The only thing that stopped me from buying this game is that those technology card holders would not be big enough to fit sleeved cards. But, it seems as if it is no issue with their Gamegenic sleeves?
They do not fit completely. We did not have all of the cards in the trays since we would not use them all in the game. Thanks for the note and for watching. -Lincoln
I was trying to catch that during the game (one of the easiest rules to miss). If your pop only allows "4" resources, you can get 4 of them every B or D phase, allowing you to store them up. I don't think there were any problems here.
Hard pass on a game that uses AI art. Art in board games has gotten much better once publishers paid professional artists. AI algorithms to produce images steal the work of human artists to generate output. Artists should be compensated for their work.
@@TheNathanlockhart No, the AI art is "cheap" now because the companies running them are doing so at a loss, and there is lots of real art out there for them to pilfer. Once the companies have to charge for the services to not go bust (apparently Midjourney is pretty close to that) and the feedback where AI art is fed back into the model will make it look worse and worse. And once they start using these stochastic parrots to write game rules as well, people will just stick to the old classics that will still be playable while desperate companies churn out drek no one will pay for. (Or people will just make their own copies based on the rules, since copyright is apparently dead in the AI future anyway.)
@goodvibe1010 I'm not advocating AI art, I just accept the reality that it is inevitable. And it's not just me that is going to end up with soulless games rushed through development, it's all of us. It's already happening more and more, and it's not slowing down. I've lived long enough now to have seen enough impassioned stances for greater quality fall flat on their face when the masses rush to the cheapest thing. I'm not going to believe that THIS is finally the time where quality and morality win out over price.
thats particularily shocking, since the game isnt even using expensive components and runs you roughly 90€ to buy... its pretty much all cards and some cardboard boards... and they dont even have any artists to pay... that feels like some pretty greedy profit margins there
@@boardgamegeek Very informative video, and ty for not being one of those board games channels that are not completely against the use of AI art. There are folks out there who don't mind when board games use AI art "ye olde luddite" etc...
I really like how calming Mike's voice is. Great teaching voice. It doesn't feel judgemental nor demeaning. Just helpful.
Thank you!
Wish I could teach this well! Looks like a great game to play. Put it on my ever growing list.
Great teach Mike, I love when people give you hint of how to start and what strategy to use
I think it's important for teachers to give direction for new players even they end up crushing you.
this is how all CIV games should be designed...love this game 10 out of 10!
If I had played this with you, I would have 100% been saying "Mason Reese" a lot :)
Awesome game, highly highly recommended.
Great game and Mike did a good job explaining the rules and helping Nikki. I think that should be a practice game and you must play it again.
The first game of these are usually learning. I have played about 10 times before this playthrough.
It helps us to understand better also!
I LOVE AI art so much - it's amazing to see what can be accomplished. Buying this game for sure.
Seems like such a fun game!
Well, you guys did it to me again. I ordered it while watching you play. It’s coming tomorrow. lol.
I wish the video descriptions had links to Lincoln's hockey jerseys! Party on dudes!
1:54:20 - Doesn't matter for the game I guess, but Nikki counted down 8 when she should have counted down 9 when paying for the card.
Lincoln's score is quite high! How did he score 13 points on technology cards? That was impressive.

Plenty of space in the holders

Not for nothing, why sleeve cards that Are just sitting in holders?
Beaker = flask
What do you think about the art in this game being Ai generated?
i dont mind it...see my other comment...so much strategy and different paths to try and what really sold me was how combat works
Neat. Someone used a tool to help make a game.
People care way too much about the Ai art.... crazy thought but that's kinda where we're headed as a society no?
it looks like it.
@@origenward3845 no, *someone stole other people’s art to make a game.
Mike, you let the Roman Empire down 😅
I got crushed!
Nikki had way more cubes and points on the resource track than her population would allow.

It's a nice stance, but eventually you're just going to have to give up gaming.
I agree 100% - generated "art" is actively offputing to me and I lose any interest in even trying to play a game :(
@ TheNathanlockhart And you're gonna end up with soulless and bad games rushed through development.

disappointing that you're highlighting a game that uses 100% AI Art. I'm really disappointed in this, actually.
