That's a very unique design. I can't say I've seen a lyre like that before. You bring up an excellent point about the smaller sound chamber making the highs much cleaner. It really does sound nice.
Since ancient times the Lyre has been around, and yet - I never really heard one played even a little, until. I hear you play it. Thank you Molly, I always leave one of your videos smiling.
Okay, I swore I wasn’t going to buy another musical instrument, but that sounds great and it is beautiful. I think I’m going to have get me one of those. I can class it as art so I don’t break my promise, right?
I have seen this on Amazon for quite a while, but I have been afraid to try it because it seemed so different. It's good to know that it has specific positive features that set it apart from others. The sound is a little bit tinny for me. I prefer a more mellow sound, but I do imagine certain music pieces where the sound might be perfect. Thank you for reviewing it!
Im sure you probably could put monofilament strings on it. Here is a little tip I use to make steel strings less tinny. Take a candle and rub up and down the strings. The wax will dampen the tinny sound a bit. Also it will prevent the strings from rusting.
Molly, you just made me buy this lyre harp and the other 19 string maple mahogany turquoise lyre harp you reviewed in another video! I just ordered both on Amazon, and I can’t wait to try them!
Oh, isn't that a konghou? I mean, obviously it's a lyre, but the shape in combination with the layout of strings in relation to the soundbox reminds me of the Chinese konghou. Suppose it makes sense considering where it was made.
Interestingly, the konghou is technically classed as a lyre because of how the strings sit in relation to the soundboard. The konghou has characteristic note-bending capabilities which this unfortunately lacks though :(
Hi Molly, thanks for the review! You mentioned nylon strings for lyre harps briefly here. Do you have any recommendations? I just cant seem to find nylom strings for lyre harps and I am not a big fan of the sound of metal strongs
i've seen a few vids of yours since recently and i'm confused why you keep laughing constantly....? is someone in the background doing things? i'm just getting distracted by it and keep wondering. cameraperson? child? pet? what's happeninnnnnnng

High notes are lovely but the lower notes don’t seem as warm, however, I bet there’s certain music that would benefit from this 😊
I was recently gifted this exact lyre, and wanted to hear how it sounds after tuned, it sounds very nice
Thank you so much! Was getting another one. Found it on aliexpress!!
I plan to buy one for my sister. She will love it.
That is SO beautiful! Would you play that just like a lyre? Anyway, lovely choice. I'm tempted!

I have to ask, do you play any instruments? I see so many videos of reviews and unboxing but never playing.
Have you tried the Harpika-a handheld lyre tuned like a kalimba and played with the thumbs?
