I just got mine four days ago, got it with my first 50 rounds through it at $1,000 total. Good deal! Main deal breaker is this is the softest shooting 10mm over all of them. Was thinking a M&P 10 but the recoil put me off. Now, this is still 100% heavier in recoil and 50% more flippy than my 9mm but it’s more manageable than the M&P. 2nd is I can put on my Rugged Obsidian 45 can, mainly for my FNX-45 Tac on this no problem with no mod whatsoever. Great gun, highly recommended.
Fn510 is closely trailing the mossberg 590. If it wasn't having to tape the screws from backing out on the rear site plate cover, it would be great. Fn510 is without a doubt my favorite handgun. I kinda want to try the delta point pro but ehh.
It’s been a year since I heard they were bringing back the hi power and I haven’t seen one in the wild yet. I have the FNX45 tactical, just got the 510 a few days ago and I’m really liking it.
I’ve seen it in my local gun shop but prefer the Springfield SA-35. Which will be next pistol purchase. Reason 1. Is it’s not really a hi-power anymore. FN changed so much out of it, it’s like a Hi-Power with 90% of 509 characteristics, IMO, not really a hi-power anymore. 2. That STUPID 1,200 price tag….I mean….just come on! I can almost buy two SA-35 for that! At that price for a FNX-45 Tac or a FN 510 (I got my 510 for $950 in total) I can understand, but for a hi-power?!? No way in hell!
1st and foremost, the 510 is THE platform for 10mm. Anything else is uncivilized. Unfortunately, the 10 round magazine design needs improvement. After waiting 90 days to get my 510 in DC 🙄 I take to 2 magazines that came with the 510 and the 3 10 round Mags from GunMag's website to the range and quickly realized that only 1 of my magazines would hold 10 rounds while the other 4 would act as if the max capacity was 8 rounds. Something is getting stuck internally after that 7th round, and the 8th is an absolute battle without a speed loader. Trying to push the 8th round with the speed loader causes deformation on the Casing. I'm hoping there's an off chance of anyone even seeing this comment since it's a year old video, but I guess we'll see. Still a FN fan either way. It's a fantastic product with a nuance flaw that nobody else seems to be speaking about. Outside of that, it is an absolute shooter with a phenomenal amount of thought and effort in the overall design.
Are mags available yet...Oregon asking. 510 in FDE, hell yes !!! 545...I have just a few FNX45s... A couple in 460 Rowland... I will bite if the 545 can use FNX45 mags. May get several if they can handle 460 Roland conversions.
Which one do I get! Can’t make up mind.. I’m normally a 45 guy. Hell, I have FNX 45 tactical. But this 510 is looking wonderful & I like the ballistics.
I am deeply torn on which I want to get. I got bored running 9mm all the time and I've really come to enjoy my .45's (HK's & M&P) over the last year. Personally I don't care for the FNX-45 but these 5** series guns feel great in the hand. I know the 545 would be more practical but the 80''s kid in me just hears 10mm and goes "Yes".
Can we get a FNX10? I know, strikers are the in thing, but I'm coming over from a long time Legacy Sig owner, Sig has abandoned by no longer making the P229 in .357SIG. The FNX45 is bringing me over from my old German Sig P220 with its 15+1 capacity. I get it, strikers are "sexy", but IMO, the FNX is the evolution from the 1911. Where 2011s have taken the market by storm, lately, IMO there two perfect pistols. Legacy Sigs and the FNX. If we can get a FNX10 that won't have the water issues of the 509 and presumably the 510, it's merely a different barrel to go from 10mm to .357SIG. I believe, there's place for a FNX10 with a .357SIG spin-off.
Though I feel FN is unnecessarily complicated and overpriced, the 10MM is exciting.Hopefully they will produce a compact everyday carry size(4 inch)that is dependable👍
PSA - the FN has an unsupported chamber resulting in brass bulge. It’s worse than the Glock bulge. Reloading for the FN can result in case failure and blowout. I wish I know this before paying $1k for this gun. 😢 I spoke with FN regarding this concern. They said that they are aware of the issue, but aren’t doing anything to solve it. In their exact words, “the gun operates fine, you just can’t reload your brass.” I’m sure that a certain slop is attentional to aid in reliability, but this is excessive. I’m would watch this closely. It’s only a matter of time before some has a blowout and this is elevated to a legal issue. 🤷♂️
People need to stop with the 10mm/back country piece like it’s a .44 Magnum or bigger. It’s far from that. It’s not a .357 Magnum from a 6-in barrel. However, when the late COL Jeff Cooper, USMC (Ret.) fell in love w the 10mm, he saw the astonishing potential over his beloved .45 and worked with Norma to develop the Norma spec loads as a manstopper. Ultimately, this cartridge was designed and intended to kill bad men. Those were the good ole days when people didn’t speak in politically correct terms. A byproduct is the hunting/back country thing. A 200 gr. Hard Cast at Norma spec velocities has taken some African game at 100 yds. IMHO, the 10mm cartridge is the most versatile handgun (not revolver) cartridge available. From watered down 10mm lite to 10mm Norma, it’ll cover any requirement you’d have with a handgun. Why did the 10mm kinda die off? Besides guns not being able to handle a steady diet of full-power ammunition, most (or too many) LEOs are not shooters and could not handle the awesome 10mm, and their qualification scores reflected. The Norma loadings were watered down to the lite loading, thus ultimately becoming the .40 S&W. Having carried a G22 Gen 2-3 on duty for many years, the .40 is a better cartridge than the internet commandos would have you believe. Those who call it short and weak, yet love the anemic 9mm… anyway, I digress. My first EDC, when I obtained my first permit at 19, was a Colt Delta Elite. Though the gun needed refinement, the cartridge was awesome. I’m glad it’s back, and have over 3k rds through two of my XTENS, a third on deck, and a ton of ammo ready for the range. I’ve been hoping SIG would release a Carry model along with 21+ rd magazines. I AIWB the XTEN and comparing my M18 and M17, I’m a solid .25 of a second faster w the M18. Now the 510 is here, and I want a non-tactical version with plenty of 15 and 22 rd magazines! As I push 50, it’s nice to see this ole retired Grunt and former LEO whip some young whippersnappers shooting 9mm.
Nice comment, lots of good information. Bought some Underwood 200 grain and 220 grain Black Cherry 10mm cartridges, coming out of my Glock 40 with KKM barrel at just over 1250 and 1200 fps respectively, right at 700 ft/lbs. Pretty close to "normal" .41 mag loads, although not the hot stuff. As hot or hotter than most .357 loads, even from a 6" barrel. Although you can probably exceed that with the most potent .357 loads. Pretty close.....
Lol... you said "plenty of magazines". Better bring plenty of money. As of 2024 the 22 rounders are $75 ea. My hiking loadout is 4 spares so we're talking $300! The 15 round mag is my range mag so it doesn't count. But price isn't even an issue because as of right now they are out of stock everywhere including full price at the FN store. So, what comes with the pistol is what you get. That's today's reality.
Ready to see Hickok45 and Honest Outlaw review the 510
agreed, wont buy it until i see them review it

FN +10mm = ❤
I looove my 509, 545, and my latest acquisition: the 510. Every one of them are a masterpiece. Thanks, FN!
Fn 510 is amazing I own several FN hand guns and I love them. They have worked flawlessly for me. Definitely reliable.
Need a 510 yesterday...

why did yall chose not to make it a hammer style firing pin
Can the 545 handle 45 super?
Does the barrel support reloads and hard cast 10mm or is it going to need a KKM barrel?
It has normal rifling, so will shoot hardcast with no problem. Just got my FN 510 today, but that's what I was told😋
Is hammer fired better than striker fired?
Striker.

I'm so tired of people talking about 10mm being a "woods" gun. It is just as good for urban applications with the right ammo.
