  • At a certain point in your car enthusiast or curious ownership journey you realize that you've spent way too much time researching old muscle cars. XD I know I didn't cover near everything but I was really tying to clear up the whole Gran Torino, Torino GT thing. I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!

Great history of Torinos!! I never noticed that they changed the grills in 68 and 69. One of my favorite cars that I owned was a 73 Torino that was special ordered with a 4-speed and 351-4v Cleveland. ( I bought it from the original owner) It also came with a 3.50 :1 positraction. I owned it in High School and it surprised a lot of cars on the street. One of my favorite memories was when we got pushed for a race. The kid called my car a grocery-getter and other comments! When the light turned green. His car stumbled and I could see him in my rearview mirror by the time I got into second gear. My friend and I were laughing at him so hard I couldn't drive. He was so mad that He pulled up and yelled a bunch of obscenities at us. Told us "he would be back after he installed a 428 CJ".
The people I sold that Torino to junked it out for the drive train to put in a Model T. When I found out, It broke my heart! If I knew what they were planning on doing with it, I would have never sold it to them.

In 1968, the Torino was offered, very rare, with a 390hp, hydraulic lifter 427
. The last body style, 72-76, only had the sportsroof in 72 and 73. The 72s had a fake hood scoop, the 73s did not. The Torino actually started morphing into the Ford Elite in 1975.

Really? I thought the 427 wasn't offered, only the 428 Cobra-Jet. I know it was originally planned to have a 427 but I thought the workers' strike meant 422's weren't built. Maybe why the 427 was "very rare". - Thanks. Learn something everyday.

    Wouldn't the plural be "Torini?"
