He didn't really debunk the existence of ESP, he merely debunked common folks who claimed to posses ESP. There's a major difference.
I've been fascinated by ESP since I was a girl. I'm also a skeptic. It takes a LOT for me to believe in certain phenomena. I could cite many examples of experiments into the paranormal - that which can't be explained yet scientifically. Also, I tried remote viewing a year ago. I did it about twenty times. There's something called beginner's luck with remote viewing; the first times they try it they often have astonishing accuracy. My first 5 times were unbelievable. There is NO WAY my hits were coincidence. Anyway, there's tons of evidence if you are willing to look for it. But if you come from a place that ESP is impossible, you're closing yourself off right from the start.
This is hardly a debunking. The topic is controversial and this guy is just taking a side. Boring and lazy.
In a hotel in Spain my girlfriend was asleep and I was staring at her face while thinking about some stuff. Suddenly she opened her eyes wide and sat up straight. Fast, from the hips. Then she started describing people going down and up the stairs. She was in a trance, completely fascinated and she spoke to me: "Do you see that?" So I could interview her. "Style clothes?" I realised our room was a former staircase. Then she asked again: "Do you see that?" After the third time avoiding the answer she assumed "no" and smashed back into the bed. In deep sleep. Next day we found the faint shading on the wall where once the stairs were. Almost like big scientific data graphics. True story. What her perspective on the matter was, we will never know.
You have zero knowledge of the research that has been done on this topic in parapsychology for many decades, do you? Disappointing...

@@MrHewlettcraphard nothing in his original statement attached his character. In fact he did show no knowledge of the research done. There have been hundreds and thousands of repeatable experiments showing effects and in 2018 the APA published a peer reviewed journal making the case for ESP. this video is one sided and uses studies which do nothing to address the claims of ESP and nulling the effects shown over decades of research.

Over 60 years ago, when I was in my early teens, I experimented with a variety of mental things. I concluded that natural things involving hearing of low level sounds, the mind's processing of vision, etc., could be mistaken as ESP, by ESP believers.
So intuition is not a sense.
It is a subconscious aggregation of information received through the 5 senses.
Is it really detrimental not to recognize that?

Pseudoscience means not falsifiable. Kind of hard to falsify something that's not falsifiable

Wisdom resides in understanding our limitations. We perceive through our senses, we conceive through our mental processes. Sensory inputs deliver too much information to process, so we filter what we perceive to modularize our concepts into byte-sized ideas intended for verbal communication. In turn, language limitations further degrade that original sensory information as it's shared in our commonwealth of knowledge. We don't know what we don't know!
Science is the systematic acquisition of knowledge, taking into account our limitations. We can emulate our senses with artificial sensors that extend and characterize our senses. We can model information with the precise language of mathematics to further extend our knowledge, enabling prediction with acceptable error. What we *can't* do to acquire knowledge is beyond the intrinsic limitations of these capabilities, hence the falsifiability test.
Most people think ESP = Extra Sensory Perception. Really it means Extra Stupid People = marks.

The false belief we only have 5 senses finds its historical origin with Aristotle. Our sensory system can be described with over 15 senses. Perception is then what we construct and can rise from a combination of input from different senses. Examples of additional senses from the classical 5 is our sense of balance from the inner ear, proprioception making it possible to know our body position even with our eyes closed. Another example is that touch can not be described as a single sense but a combination of many different senses that are either sensitive to heat, vibration, or pressure. Taste is a perception that combines sensory inputs from out taste buds, our nose, our eyes, and texture and hardness felt by our teeth and tongue. So when talking about extrasensoriel perception it seems important to define senses correctly to prevent people from identifying other sources of sense as extrasensoriel.

Can you believe that some humans down through history were enlightened beings? If so then ESP could be a the beginning of enlightenment or at different levels!
I'm reminded of a lesson from my philosophy of mind class. One of the first lesson was from a philosopher that disregarded astrology and esp not because they could be explained but for the simple reason that they could not make reliable predictions.

Humans are animals just like dogs and cows, and those animals have proven abilities such as: dogs can sense who is bad and good and cows when a storm is coming.
Humans have abilities to determine when a situation is escalating or exactly what was said in the video.
I agree with David on many levels, but being a skeptic of just plain feelings that can or can not be proven or disproven is not one of them.
Dogs aren't that good at telling good people from bad, look at all the little kids that get bitten for an example.

It’s a case by case basis, and some people are just better at picking up on things than others. A sceptic can’t deny a person’s intuition just because they’re not as good at it.
The coming of a storm has effects that we can't sense, but these are physical changes in the atmosphere and no extra sensory perception is needed for organisms that have evolved to sense these changes. I'd say the notion that dogs can sense who is "good" and who is "bad" is a misinterpretation. Dogs often instinctively react negatively to behavior and body language they aren't accustomed to and they can interpret the body language of for instance someone with cerebral palsy, someone who is drunk or just smiling as being threatening. They can be trained to respond to different signals, such as certain behavioral patterns, but that is us training them how to and what to respond to; it's not that they're sensing "good" or "bad".
i'm a sceptic. i don't deny it, i say it's dumb to assume it's a supernatural fenomenon. if we don't even fully understand our and an animal deeper brain processes, which is part of the the natural/material world, then it's primitive/retarded/dumb or arrogant to say it's some psychic/spiritual or a not yet revealed sense, because first you should know the whole capability of the basic 5 senses and what's happaning with the collected information in your subconscious. and David showed in statistics that a whole bunch of people thinks that's the case. basicly god of the gaps, olny with magical senses.
How can you not say that these might be evolutionary traits?
And no you cannot say that if they were them everyone would have it because not everyone has the capability to run as fast or jump as high as everyone else.
Humans are by far the most evolved organism on the plant so why couldn’t such a trait be something encoded in our DNA?
The science isn’t backed up because we haven’t created the technology to break down every strand of DNA and be able to decode it. I believe we’ll get there one day and humans will have telekinetic traits, it’s all in a matter of time.
My dad believes in pseudoscience. My dad believed in conspiracy theories. My dad talked about government conspiracy theories and that black people get free things from government. So, my dad told me and other individuals that he wants unemployment benefits and he works for his wife. My dad had a judicary hearing, and then I found out my dads name and board of review were on the internet.

I think we have all experienced some weird things in our lives but its very rare and you cannot reproduce it.

I love a good debunking video. There is way to much bunk out there that needs a severe de.
Well, like I commented on the last video of this, all people have way more than five senses. There's balance, sense of gravity, temperature, sensing where your limbs are, etc. Still though, the people who claim to have "special senses" are delusional.
It amazes me for what ever reason this myth of the five senses prevails and even in these critical debate because medical science state that there is around 20 - 25 sense depending on how you count them. For example, temperature has two separate senses, one for hot and one for cold. Its an extraordinary example of how science is so poorly represented in western culture. The myth of the five senses is a Aristotelian concept and is just one of many of such concepts that continue to be propagated despite them being superseded generations ago. Without this debunking then there is not really going to be any improvement in those statistics any time soon.
An interesting point on this subject is the prevalence of the literal interpretation of the archetype and continual justification of theory based on this concept. The name that seems to pop up all the time when debating antiquated ideas, Jordan Peterson is a prolific user of this concept, though Jungian but still, in his strange contradictory arguments about and against equality of outcomes. Physics has a similar problem with interpretation of motion which for me is a corollary for flat earth and Peterson believes relying on the same cultural mechanisms. And I wonder why climate change hasn't been designated a process in which it becomes a solvable problem.

All it is is your own intuition. Some people can read it better than others, just like any other ability that takes practice.
Through evolution we have lost much of our sensory abilities.We don't need them like we used to.Who is to actually know at this point what the human mind is capable of.Now that doesn't mean I don't have skepticism of people who say they tell the future.Most people would be terrified if they found out something like that about their own self.

Professor Brian Josephson won a Nobel Prize in physics for the discovery of the Josephson Junction. It's essentially a superconducting transistor. Do a YT search for him and ESP. Over at Big Think, you'll find an interview of him where he discusses the reality of PSI effects, as reported in peer reviewed physics journals.
