Thank you so much. This wreath was a stunner - and I agree that they tend to get overlooked a little. So bigger and fuller catches the eye. But a classic item is timeless and roses and carnations just work well together 🌼
One of the things I love about you John, is that you love foliage. I'm glad you didn't put the roses in first, because I prefer to see you build it up. Often, your foliage would almost be enough without the flowers! You usually add a variety of colours and textures as you did here. I think this makes the arrangements look special always and a beautiful back of foliage makes the flowers pop out and be even more special. In other words, I agree with you! I thought that this was a lovely week for you to do this particular wreath as it reminds me of Remembrance Day, which is a solemn and important national day here in Canada. I know that it is celebrated in the UK as well.
Thank you. Yes, I do like a mix of foliage - I think it looks more realistic and interesting than just one type alone. That is a beautiful idea the connection with Remembrance Day - it’s those colours, and a ring represents a never ending circle - just as we will always remember those who fell. Hello, If doing for Christmas. When would be the optimum time to do this. How long will an arrangement like this last. Many thanks, your channel is incredible.
It depends on when you have visitors as the main thing, as well as where you might place it. If outside on the door the; it will last well as cooler, but would need watered every day. Also if below zero it will freeze - that ok if it stays below zero for the whole time, but will be dead when defrosted. If inside it’s warmer, so best to make the day before you need it. Great video as usual! I have a wee question about using a foam wreath - I’m considering using one for an indoor Christmas wreath with foraged foliage as it‘s a good shape, easy to fill and seems sturdy. Is the wreath foam soaked prior? And with an indoors arrangement would I run the risk of some bottom pieces falling out if they end up a bit too dry when hung for a while with central heating on? Should I mist every so often? Last year I used entwined willow branches for a ring then made individual clusters of foliage tied onto the willow. They were sturdy but the willow ring started to sag and my wreath stated to look a bit…oval toward the end!!! 🤦🏻♀️ I’d like to try the foam plastic ring for sturdiness and longevity this year!
Hello Jen - good question. The foam ring would be fine inside - outside the materials might get blown away! Yes, you would pre-soak it, then create your design and let it drip over a sink for a little while, before placing. It’s best to mist it every day, and you can resoak every few days for the best longevity. Bottom bits should be ok and not fall out. The base needs to be solid for a wreath to not lose shape - the fresh willow last year would dry out and become lose and this would allow it to lose its shape. So a wire frame inside would of solved this a bit, as would adding more willow for volume. But for fresh foliage the foam ring is the easiest solution available just now. You can also wrap the ring in clingfilm to hold in water and insert the stems through this. Then resoak by submerging in a tub of water. You can even leave it in water for a few hours to rehydrate. Enjoy getting creative 😀🌼

Oh I agree on foliage. An arrangement with little or no foliage is by definition ugly to me. They look "disney" fake and shallow. Foliage is like the stage on which the flowers can be the star.
Your videos are incredibly helpful. I learned SO much. Thanks for that. and God bless.
Thank you 😊 that’s a great description, the foliage as a stage, and it is true .
Glad you enjoy the videos 🌼🙋🏼♂️

Thank you - we didn’t realise this, so that’s good to know. 🌼
