Oh my God! I want to be in Nottingham for Christmas. I could eat and drink myself into an early grave, with a go on the helter skelter to finish off. Heaven! 😍👍
The hour bell is known as "little john" and is the second deepest bell in the UK apparently. It sounds so close to Big Ben that when that was under maintenance, Nottingham City Council offered the use of the bell for BBC Radio to use, but sadly wasn't possible as the bells don't ring through the night.
Nottingham Market Square AKA Slab Square, where this market is held, is the second largest square in the UK with only Trafalgar Square in London being bigger.
Hi Tim. I love the Nottingham market. Seeing only 2 Christmas markets is making me want to go to one. Sorry 3 I forgot winter wonderland got one. Please show more. Thank you.
You can see they've scaled it back a bit this year. My guess is because they closed it day 2 last year because it was jam packed and social distancing was just not going to happen. The bar they usually have is 2 floors with big balconys and the whole things heavily themed. You can see they've spaced things out and completely removed some stuff to keep a more open space feel. I can imagine the company who puts it on (think its mellors) lost alot of money last year when the council pulled the plug. Still a bit miffed how the goose fair couldn't go ahead in October when alot of other larger fairs did across the country.
You are out doing yourself this year Tim. Every place looks so festive and the food looks amazing . I want to try everything they sell.Keep up the great work Tim. Really enjoy the Christmas vlogs. 🎄🎄
We’re going to Nottingham Christmas market tomorrow (Tuesday), thanks for your video Tim. I found it very informative and well edited it’s given me a good insight of what to expect.
Well I never! The Market Square's pedestrianised! When I last visited Nottingham centre a road ran all the way round the square and council house. The market square itself has also been altered... extensively! Wow! Just wow! It's all changed. Thanks for the festive treat though, Tim. I'm gobsmacked. 🎅🎅
You're going back some years there 'The Bard' I'm 58 and Nottingham born and bred, I passed my driving test in 1983 when I was 19 and you could still drive into the square then as I remember, but everything changed not long after.
What you see now of the Nottingham square was from the revamp from around 2000, when they re-introduced the trams into the city. It was rather interesting to see the work for the trams as they removed 12- 18" of the road surface which reveiled the old cobble stones and original tram lines. Which many thought they were going to reuse, but they just put some hardcore down and resurfaced it. Much of the modern track in the square is laid directly on top of and follows the old lines routes.
Tim, you have made my Christmas so very special, enjoyable, happy with these informative, fun enticing walks. I never had a Mulled Wine. Here in America our Christmas is pretty fixed and we miss so many wonderful things you have there. The Mince and other pies always look so delicious as does the other foods you describe. I think England does Christmas best! Well look at Charles Dickens after all! I am old and stay at home but you allow me to travel there and enjoy these marvelous holiday sights and sounds with you! Yes that is some GONG - must be quite a huge bell. Thank you so much for bringing us these excellent videos with your wit and charm and good humor. You are the best.
@@WalkWithMeTim We do have excellent light displays and decorated malls but NOTHING like all those festive booths and rides and the whole atmosphere of Christmas rolled into one. Just not the same as there. All those fabulous foods - we have McDonalds~! LOL
Another amazing video Tim some nice looking stalls, but 4 me you'd have 2 go along way to beat the York xmas market it was amazing keep up the brillant video's🌲🌲🎅🎅🎅
Hiya Tim! Thanks very much for this. Nottingham has never been on my radar but that was a cool vid and I bet it looks good at any time with the lovely buildings. Thanks again.
Nottingham has a great Christmas market , i actually live only a few miles away and used to work in Nottingham so seen this many times over the years ,Good video as always , You can here the bongs all over the city centre! need to visit Yarmouth again soon :-)
Tim enjoyed you're video when you see xmas markets you know xmas is around the corner, (you are really knocking these xmas markets out of the park) 🎅🎅🌲🌲
I'm currently watching this on the TV so I thought I'd pop on my phone to let you know Home Bargains had those giant sized nutcracker soldiers for sale.
It's usually a lot bigger than what you got to see Tim. Thanks to covid they have had to scale it back quite a bit the winter wonderland and Ice rink are missing this year plus a few stalls too hope you enjoyed it all the same.
Something else that we have in the city centre during the summer is a beach and a small paddling pool for the kids also stalls rides and a bar so if you are in this neck of the woods it could also be worth a visit
I love Nottingham Christmas market don’t get me wrong but I do think some of it is very expensive for what it is. £7 for a burger. Expensive in my book.
Was at this Christmas village on Friday, most food items were between £5 and £10 so quite pricey, seems like £5 is the new £1 and the pound is the new 10 pence at these prices!! You didnt give me a shout out Tim for that gift😦. Good video though☺

You and me both!
When I lived in Nottingham in the late 1960's there was nothing like this there at Christmas. There was the Goose fair a few months earlier.
The hour bell is known as "little john" and is the second deepest bell in the UK apparently. It sounds so close to Big Ben that when that was under maintenance, Nottingham City Council offered the use of the bell for BBC Radio to use, but sadly wasn't possible as the bells don't ring through the night.

And why armed cops on our streets? Keeping us safe from who?
You tell me lol
"Keeping us safe from who?" Those who refuse to live in a dictatorship, perhaps 🏃♂️🏃♀️👮♂️👮♂️
Nice video showing the overpriced tat on offer .
Lol
Where’s all the people Tim? Nottingham, like everywhere else, is devoid of people. The country is dying.
It was busy in places but this was 11am midweek
Nottingham has gone downhill, completely a student city
Coventry as gone the same.
You think
😬
