Most of my videos are about game development; it's probably safe for me to presume that most of my viewers come to my channel to see game dev stuff, and not to hear me talk about a yakuza character for over 10 minutes. I wish that all of my videos could be about exciting game development progress, but sometimes it's not possible. When I'm unable to deliver a development video, I try my best to produce something fun and interesting instead. I really enjoy talking about the yakuza character, so that's the direction I went in for this video. This doesn't mean that the yakuza is my top priority, or that I'm going to shove the yakuza in your face all the time; it just means that it was time to make a video, so I chose a topic that I'd enjoy talking about. If you're disappointed about this, I'm very sorry. Please wait for my next video, which is almost certainly guaranteed to be development-focused.

I agree, I think maybe he should have Yakuza mode in the modern day version of yandere sim but have it as something you can turn off on the main menu for those that don't want to use it, that way people can use it if they want but it doesn't affect the story too much if you don't.

As far as the Yakuza goes, I think the last idea with a subtle blend of the first two is the best way to go, offering a little more depth.
It could have started with him thinking the people he was killing were scum, then as it became more difficult to find corrupt people, the Yakuza's boss grew more and more angry with the Yakuza's lack of success in finding 'organ donors' and remarks "If you can't get me what I need, maybe your brother can."
So the Yakuza starts killing innocents, fooling himself into believing they are bad people by focusing on their quirks. This leads him to feeling nothing but guilt and shame, the only thing driving him forward is his desire to provide for his kid brother.
Hm, nice idea! Maybe Yandere Dev will do it! :)

I would definitely put Mr. Yakuza in normal mode. Even if there's not as many as there used to be, they still do exist. They seem to think of themselves as business people, and crime is business. I don't think guilt plays a role in it if you just view it as business. Besides you get used to violence if you witness it a lot.. And they are not just bad, they have helped communities in the past, after storms/floods for example. Missing fingers are an indicator as cutting of a finger is a common form of punishment. And they're like a family, calling each other brother, uncle etc. The saddest outcome for this particular guy would probably be his younger brother finding out about his "business" and rejecting him.. So there's no real purpose to live anymore. Very sad. ... Also, I'd totally like one yakuza x yandere ending in which she realized towards the end that her true love is not senpai. They could be a yakuza couple or she gets him to quit and try to lead a normal life.

Historically, people who join the Yakuza are a part of the burakumin caste, which roughly translates into “hamlet people”. These guys are considered to be the untouchables of Japan due to the fact that their ancestors worked in meat packing houses and leather tanning. They can’t get jobs since their names are on a burakumin register, are discriminated against by virtually everyone, and they’re virtually locked into their “caste” for life. The Yakuza movement was born out of these people who desired a community or brotherhood of like-minded individuals. So it makes sense for Yakuza the character to try and give his younger brother a chance he wouldn’t otherwise get since he’s inked up and too deep within the organization.

Archsteel yes I totally agree! I'd love to see the story happening in the modern game plot and I believe info-chan has many differences from the Yakuza character. I don't see a particular reason why any of those should, let's say, "bore" anyone if they co-exists. Especially since the Yakuza has his own plotline that could connect to the delinquent opponent. Perhaps the way of interaction with the two has some resemblance but the practicality of what each one could do for you is completely different.

I love the idea of the 80's mode personally, I hope that it does get implemented. Specially because, after all this time, a new character (new as in newer than Yandere Chan herself as a game character) will feel much more mysterious and less than a game character everyone knows and considers as a popular-known-semi meme- character.
The idea of what happened in the past and playing with a new character whose intention might be very similar, yet being in a different era and therefore with different mechanics really appeals to me and also adds more significance to the game's story.

Those of you who refuse to utilize the Yakuza due to what he actually does to his victims don't realize what this game is about; who Yandere-Chan really is.
As I like to quote Yandev, "You haven't forgotten about Yandere-Chan's TRUE personality, have you?"
Shadowtail She's not completely soulless now than she was earlier in the game's development; she has a limited emotional spectrum that only Senpai's presence can rectify. Whatever her reaction to the Yakuza's methodology of victim disposal may be depends on her morality, which depends on the player.
I agree with both of you, but if we really limit Yandere Chan's true potential, we'd also be making her lose a lot of character points. Yandere is such an interesting character to play because she literally has no morals, or at least you can choose that. Yanderechan would definitely be capable of selling chicks to slavery
Just because Yandere-chan doesn't feel many emotions doesn't mean she wouldn't have a problem with the Yakuza carting away the rivals. I'm not talking about morals. I'm saying that Yandere-chan's main objective is to get rid of her rivals as cleanly and efficiently as possible. Using the Yakuza would make that goal much more difficult to obtain because of how many students would need to be kidnapped for each rival. It would also make it more difficult for the player- I can imagine Yandere-Chan befriending her rivals or matchmaking them or killing them herself, but I just can't see her helping abduct a crapload of students just to get rid of one rival. It just doesn't make sense to me at all.

There's a reason why Yuno Gasai is the quern of Yandere's, because she's EXACTLY what people think of when they hear 'Yandere'. They do feel, just not as normal people do. They don't get reasoning or guilt, all they care about is themselves and what they desire, which is usually ONE other person. And they are willing to do WHATEVER it takes to make that person theirs and ONLY theirs. Killing the person's entire family, all their friends, every person why even ASSOCIATES with their special someone. And if the Yandere is crazy enough, they'll even KILL their special someone, so that NO ONE can have them EVER. And then they'll usually end up killing themselves, because they 'can't live without them'. Do you see what all of this is? Madness. Yandere's are crazy. They are crazy psychopaths who have lost all reasoning and their grasp on reality. So.... why the fucking fuck would they care about what their actions did to innocent people around their age? They. WOULDN'T. And don't. As long as there are lesser people around senpai, the better for Yandere-chan, because she doesn't fedl guilt. She killed a kitten, because she knows it was horrific and WRONG, but did it in an attemp to feel something, and failed. So why.. would sending teenagers to be either sex slaves or unwilling organ donnars be the thing to make her feel guilt all of a sudden? She knows what she's doing is wrong, she just doesn't care. Because she only feels thing relating to Senpai. Which probably usually consists of Love, Jealousy, Fear, and Anger. Not a lot of good emotions in there, huh?

Modern yakuza is much more preferred by a lot of people. The reason for this is simple: historical accuracy isn't necessarily needed.
A solution for the problem, if it's still a problem anyway, could be that Yandere-chan's mother made sure the yakuza still has influence around their town solely because they helped her get to her senpai.
This allows Yandere-chan to have a perfectly valid reason, not to mention the pressure would be ON for the yakuza because they need to stay alive and thriving.

I think that the yakuza would be implemented wonderfully into the modern game. Perhaps the decline in yakuza in modern times is why the yakuza’s boss has such high standards-and such an immense punishment for not living up to those standards. If members such as this are declining, there would be much higher demand for gruesome services, and for those services to be kept secret. Maybe the stress of losing his high ranked position could be another factor in his stress. Nonetheless, I think that the resources would be great for implementing the yakuza in normal yandere simulator.

The reason people get mad is because it makes no fucking sense, people that traffic people don't take rich kids (this is a prestigious school, mind you) they take poor people off the street that will do what they say because they're already broken down. The cops will find the yakuza right away if he kidnaps an important kid, so what's the point?

this is a game about a girl who walks around a school killing other girls because they like the boy she wants, she chops them up, drops weights on them, kidnaps them, tortures them, makes them kill each other, and all she has to do is get a single bucket of water and a single mop and clean up the blood and then drag the body to an inceinerator which seems to be conviently placed outside, and even though the bucket still has bloody water in she doesnt get caught, and thats one girl on her own

Not exactly. Killing is just a PART of how to get rid of the rivals. You can either kill your rival, sabotage them litterally, tell them to fuck off or get them expelled. The Yakuza is also a PART of the elimination methods where it's dark. Have you learned NOTHING from YandereDev's previous videos?
I like the idea of an 80s mode but I think you should make it into a DLC after you finish the base game. This way you would be able to flesh it out more, with greater detail, and it wouldn't consume your time finishing the base game.

Even though the idea of the Yakuza being available only in 1980s mode is more logical, i think that the Yakuza existing in the original game is going to be a more interesting experience and the changes that you have in mind are fitting the story so well. This is just my though and i want to see what you will come up in the future.

I just wanted to say that even though the Yakuza were more powerful back in the 80's, they are still very present today. They still have over 53,000 members across all the various groups, and are one of the most powerful mafia-like groups in the world, and they're largest faction, the Yamaguchi-Gumi, make twice as much money in a year as the largest drug cartel in Mexico (6.6 billion as opposed to 3 billion). So having a Yakuza character in the modern day Yandere Sim wouldn't be a problem. Also, I just really like the idea of the Yakuza character so I think he should definitely be in the normal game as well as the 80's mode.

Guys, the whole game theme is generally fucked up. Killing people, kidnapping girls, bullying to death, etc. etc.? Really, if you're not okay with such a... Colorful game that breaks the bounds of common games today, then Lovesick/Yandere Simulator just likely isn't the game you should be playing. While everything is made clear you WILL have a choice on if you want to use him or not along with the many other ways to get rid of a rival/someone else, this doesn't mean the whole idea of the Yakuza should be completely discouraged because it's so damn dark. YanDev has stated several times that he wants the game to break the bounds of what might be the common norm in most games. Perhaps this is just my own thoughts that isn't shared with many others, but I really don't think complaining about something being too "Gruesome" is exactly what fits for a game like this. It's MEANT to be fucked up, Yandere-Chan ISN'T a normal girl lol. Barely anyone is normal but she's on the psychopathic bend. Please just keep this in mind next time you might claim something is too fucked up lol. ;3;

(When it becomes an official game you can "Win", I mean.) Yes, you can even play past/around the Yakuza in future game play as YanDev's made very clear, it's on the players choice of personalized actions. Yes, it's been pointed out a steady school population would be necessary for the game so a Yakuza course without death (Or very few deaths) would be ideal. What i'm SAYING is towards the people who don't want him in the game at all, period. Killing or no killing. I'm just pointing out that he can still co-exist in the game without killing if it discomforts them. I'm not sure if you were agreeing with me or trying to make a point? So I tried to express myself further if that makes sense? I've been following the games development sense very early on, so trust me, you don't need to express the ideals YanDev has made very clear, time and time again. I like it where you have multiple ways to go through things but it has to boil down to the basics; Yan-chan isn't capable of feeling emotions normally. She wants to feel these emotions that her mother talks about and when she finds the one who unleashes these emotions inside her, she wants to do EVERYTHING IN HER POWER TO KEEP HIM TO HERSELF! Why can't people see that? Yan-chan isn't normal but people want this and this and that to make it all cute and sparkly without violence. GROW UP! Violence is all around you and you want to stick your damned heads in the ground while saying "LALALALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" Granted, some people will get offended by this but take into consideration that I'm merely pointing out facts. YanDev wants to give us as many means of eliminating rivals in the game as possible but with people complaining is just like rusty gears grating together that seem to bust any minute. But, I do like how Yandev thinks. Instead of trying to give kidnapped girls or classmates to the Yakuza for the organ harvest, the kidnapping for ransom money is a good way to go. On a different topic, the 80's mode seems ok but the for the Yakuza to be just in that mode would rather...boring but kind of fun.

Yeah... Regarding the Yakuza, I think it would be better if he was just plain evil. The whole 'reforming the delinquents' thing is interesting and could possibly be a really good method of taking down the delinquent rival, but besides that, I personally prefer leaving his character to imagination.
