Yes that was Freddie from beginning to end. A few people thought it was Montserrat, but from what I understand this was the demo sent to Montserrat because he wanted to do a collaboration with her, he adored her. The collaboration came about and is "Barcelona" album. She was blown away by his talent and vocal ranges that he could easily jump in and out of with little to no build up, he could jump from bottom notes to tippity top, as this recording showed his "tippity top" lol. If you react to Barcelona there is a line he sings "When you walked into the room you took my breath away" he was talking about the 1st time he saw Montserrat perform. She was the best of the best for female opera singers and so beautiful like a butterfly. They ended up adoring one another and it came through so strong when they were on stage with one another, the chemistry was unreal.
This eventually became Ensueno. You must check it out. Then Barcelona. How can I go on. The Golden boy. All are amazing
Thank you, just checked it out. I now understand it more now thanks to you, after seeing the ballet.
Can you believe this is Freddie's voice? That man could sing everything, and amazingly as well.
I do love this, it's him singing the song he wanted to show to Monserrat Caballé and that she then sang entitled "Ensueno" (Dream, in English). You have to check out the Barcelona Album, Freddie and Montsy (how he lovingly called her) are a match made in heaven, truly! He always loved opera, he fell in love with her voice and wanted to sing with her and thank all the gods of the universe they did, and it's the most outstanding album. Freddie could match her opera voice, every time.
They truly loved each other, they truly admired one another in such a pure way. A match made in heaven for sure!
These 2 are GRAND, LEGENDS!
Scientists did a study of his voice. They said he was able to use parts of his throat along with a wide jaw that allowed him to sing in four octaves. It’s like he was created to sing and perform. He was our Motzart. 😢
one thing ive noticed with freddies high singing is that he makes it sound so natrually low (if that makes sense) and with ease.
Now barcelona 🤣
Yes that was our beautiful Freddie, the voice of an angel. This sends me into a whole state of mind. So beautiful 😇😇😇😇
More great vocals - IN MY DEFENSE & MADE IN HEAVEN 🥰
ABSOLUTELY YESSSSS😘
As others have said it's all Freddie's voice and Mike Moran on piano, a demo for Ensueno. It's amazing isn't it??
Freddie loved opera
Just Freddie's voice! The finished song with words is Ensueno, Freddie wrote it and sung it with Montserrat Caballe, you should listen to it next, from the Barcelona album. So beautiful. Freddie could sing anything, even scientist who studied his voice say his voice was the greatest in recorded history. He has several special vocal qualities that singers just don't have, his vibrato is 7.04 Hz, faster than the best Opera singers, also he uses what's called false vocal cords, most people don't use them. His voice puts out duel tones like Tuvan throat singers, it just comes natural to him.God created him to sing. Great reaction.
You remind me of the time long ago when I discovered Queen. It's not like anything else. Truly and totally original. "We are not worthy of a man like that with a voice like that." You really are right. It's not from this world. It comes from a place beyond what we can see and touch here in this world. Like Mozart. We're only now realizing we were alive during Mozart, during Shakespeare, during DaVinci. Only this time, it was Freddie Mercury.
He wrote this and recorded it to send to the opera singer he was recording with
I had a similar reaction the first time I listened, even after hearing all his duets with Montserrat Caballe. It's not just his range, it's the musicality of this piece. Recently watched an interview with Mike Moran and he said they needed a B Side for The Great Pretender, the cover Freddie was releasing. Freddie told Mike to play something classical on the piano and he would warble something over it. Warble? Unbelievable. It was taken to their meeting to play for Montserrat. I am so glad we have this to enjoy now. Although it makes his early loss even sadder.
Warble! I just love him saying that.
Unbelievable - yes - Freddie! You must review some of the songs in the album he made with the Spanish opera soprano Monserrat Caballe on "Barcelona" you will love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The more you learn about Freddie and his voice, the more you appreciate what an unbelievable voice he had. There will never be another singer in his unlimited category, (rock, jazz, opera, and anything else he wanted to sing.) What a terrible shame to lose him way too soon.
I watched another reaction video of this song done by an opera teacher. She did not classify Freddy’s vocals in this song as falsetto, she termed it as counter tenor. Seems even without formal voice training Freddie could really do it all. Missing you Freddie ❣️
Counter tenor is falsetto.
@@ZENOBlAmusic You can tell how familiar I am with Opera ;-)
@@kimsloan4652 Yes, people are not really that familiar with opera. But you were on the right trail! Which video were you referring to? Where an opera singer discusses this song?
No you're right! In classical music this would not be considered falsetto. This would be a counter tenor. A male soprano. Falsetto is a male who sings high but not necessarily a counter tenor.
@@ZENOBlAmusic is not
Barcelona album as a whole is amazing! "How Can I Go On", is one of my favorite tracks from that album. Great reaction!
HEAR THAT?? 🎶🌸 H E A V E N L Y P E R F E C T I O N 🎶🌸 All the comments below express my sentiments!! This piece of Heaven brings me PEACE ☮️ 💟
That's all Freddie
I giggled inside before the video started when you said ,” you never know what to expect with Freddie,” because I knew what you were in for. Yep it was ALL Freddie. You asked,”Who Is this Man?”
Sir, this is THE LEGEND, Freddie Mercury himself. Freddie performed this for Montserrat Cabelle’ a famous Spanish Operatic Diva. He wanted her to hear what he was thinking about for a song her wrote for her and him. He wrote the album Barcelona for her because it was where she was from. The song Barcelona is absolutely amazing and in it he describes where they first met and how he felt about her. Do yourself a favor and check out Barcelona first and then go check out the rest of the album. Freddie was a genius and could not be touched with his vocal skills, especially considering he never took voice lessons. Great reaction friend♥️
Your reaction is priceless
Yes , the most talented man in 100 years , Greatings from Poland
Freddie was a great musician, tremendous singer and an amazing composer!
Your first reaction to this was almost identical to the first time I heard it. Can’t be him!!! Until he hit that lower register. Just incredulous. Amazing. OMG. Pretty much covers it. 👍
Because I couldn’t SEE him singing this, it was difficult to comprehend. Check this out from a Wembly concert. “IMPROMPTU “
ruclips.net/video/WWNJM3NI6-o/видео.html
It absolutely was all Freddie. He recorded this as a demo/guide vocal to send to Montserrat Caballé for *her* part -
When lyrics were added, it became the song “Ensueño” on their album Barcelona .
Here’s the link for that one… give it a listen, and you can hear her singing, with Freddie doing his baritone lines.
ruclips.net/video/qMy-gxwCMvM/видео.html
Agree!! Monserrat (Montsy) convinced Freddie to sing in his natural baritone voice in the song “Ensueno”. He didn’t want to at first because he was afraid it would disappoint his fans. The song is beautiful and their voices together are magical!! 😍
Freddie sang a cover version of the Great Pretender which one was released in 1987 as a single and Exercises in Free Love became the B-side production of it. Can you imagine how good he could have been with trained vocals? But he never took singing lessons.
God Job. Please react to Rachmaninov Revenge later vertion!!
Freddie never fails to amaze and surprise! The expression on your face was like mine when I first listened to this!
You can see why I suggested this tune, and yes all Freddie, although not playing the piano that's Mike Moran,Freddie said just play a tune and I'll sing along,I purposely didn't tell you anything about it,but he did this sort of thing live in the concerts for an impromptu moment, and they also sing rock and roll live such as some Elvis,or Tutti Fruity and others, and some Dame Shirley Bassey with Big Spender, look at Rock In Rio Blues in front of around 250,000 per show
Love Big Spender 🎶🎶 💰
The rock & roll medley from London in 1977 is epic absolutely love it 😍
@@debramoore7513 Haven't seen ONE reactor react to Big Spender and it's starting to piss me off. One minute & 31 seconds of sheer bliss. They don't know what they're missing.
@@3ScotsInk ♥️♥️ I know, right?? “IT’S BLISS”.♥️♥️ I sent off my Freddie message to Monika!! Excited for the opportunity!! 😁
@@debramoore7513 Thank you my friend! Now if somebody will just react to it! Just sent you my message-- send me yours!
I *LOVED* the delight of seeing you go "I'm all nervous to discover what else can Freddie do with his voice" knowing this song you were about to hit and the surprise awaiting :D That relatable doubt of "wait... is this Freddie?? No? Who is this?" and the realization when the more familiar notes get in the mix "no WAY!! This is Freddie!!" Priceless :D 👌
Not a song, really, just Freddie vocalizing for a song he was sending to Monserrat for an album they were doing. He is singing her part to run it by her. Amazing, isn't it? He has done some of these vocalizations live at Queen concerts. This may not have been Freddie on piano, I have heard conflicting reports on that part. Excellent reaction, thank you.
Yes, that was all Freddie. It’s one of those “hidden gems”. I’ve been a huge Queen fan since 1974 and I just found this a couple years ago! I didn’t get into his solo albums that much back in day. He did this to bring to Spain when he was meeting Monserrat for the first time. He wrote it for her and she loved it. She actually performed it on stage shortly after. It also showed her he could collab with an opera singer. The rest is history as they had a beautiful album together.
Please react to IN MY DEFENSE
Karen, you’re absolutely right. He can sing 4 octaves. And all the other numbers just …….. no words for, to good 👍🏻👏🏻💕 the song, we did hear now, was born in the first rehearsal in a hotel in Barcelona with Montsè. They where making music from midday to sunrise. She can say, that she was the complete night with Freddie. 😃🤣
Someone once remarked…”he’s a wizard”
Just amazing, the first time I heard it I kept waiting for him to “come in.”
That’s mike Moran on piano, he co-wrote Barcelona with Freddie. Montsy asked, how many songs on this ‘album’ thingy? Freddie said usually ten, & she said oh let’s do that!
Freddie said holy crap!!!! He & mike Moran wrote & composed this whole album, it’s pretty mind blowing. He was very proud of this work.
Isn’t he incredible? He never had any professional vocal training, he just had this innate ability and phenomenal talent, and all self taught. He was a huge opera fan, and in particular of the Spanish Soprano Montserrat Cabale and it was arranged that they would meet. As many have already said, he did this as a demo for her. She was the one who suggested they do an entire album together and because of her schedule, Freddie got two weeks to write all the songs which he did with Mike Moran. The Barcelona album is wonderful, every song will give you goosebumps. Barcelona is the title track, The Golden Boy, La Japonaise, How Can I Go On and Ensueno, Guide Me Home.
Hello Patrick. I just wanted to say how much i adore your Queen and Freddie reactions: you are genuine, real and speak from the heart. Please continue with their catalogue, as I want more from you! X
I don't know when you posted this I've never seen you before because I don't watch a lot of RUclips videos but the very first time I heard this song and not only captured my heart but my soul and kind of actually described in my entire life this man was a genius beyond people's believe.... I do not know if in this track he was playing the piano or not but that definitely definitely was him singing I don't know if he wrote the music...or not.... But a man truly disserving of the honor bestowed upon him by the late Queen of England.......
And I Am having this song played @my "wake/celebration of life"......cuz it just explains me.......
Gibt es noch Fragen wer der beste Sänger ist/war?
Es kann nur einen geben......Freddie Mercury.....😍😍😍😍
Unbeleavable, thank's Freddies voice! Still missed
Great and emotional reaction. It's incredible. Here is a pure talent born with Freddie. He has not received any voice training. It has all come from within him and that is his phenomenon. Thanks for this great reaction.
Yes That Is All Freddie Mercury.
This man could sing anything
Great reaction! Freddie was mimicking a soprano voice here. This is a demo of the song Ensueno, that he first gave to Montserrat Caballe. He recorded these guide vocals for her throughout the whole album. But he actually often did something similar to this live as well, check out Rock In Rio Blues live in Rio 1985. The Barcelona album that Freddie and Montserrat recorded together is truly amazing. It is some of Freddie's finest work, he was the first contemporary artists that ever collaborated with an opera singer.
Chill bumps every single time! He was so talented! 🤩
Have you done “Cool Cat” yet? He sings in falsetto the entire song. 🔥🎶🔥
The look on your face is priceless!! Great reaction and yes this is our dear Freddie
This man could sing everything, unmatchad
Freddie Mercury living on my own remix reaction
He does something similar live in concert - Impromptu at Wembley / Budapest etc Incredible voice.
ruclips.net/video/WWNJM3NI6-o/видео.html
Thank you so much for doing this beautiful and unique masterpiece. I love your reaction. There is some of this type of demonstration at the Wembley Saturday Magic Tour performance: Impromptu which is wrongfully and sadly overlooked by reviewers. Perhaps they just don't realize that it is Freddie's vocals, and not a flute or other instrument. Please do the Barcelona album. The songs he created for Montserrat and his joint venture expanded music where it had never been before.
HI Pat!
Just RE-listening to some of your Freddie reactions.🥰
QUESTION/RECOMMEND…
Do you have THIS on your Queen/Freddie To-Do List:
From Queen’s 1986 Wembley Weekend Concerts (I nicknamed Wembley that, cuz folks seem to forget that there are TWO consecutive Wembley concerts)
…FREDDIE’S “IMPROMPTU”?!?
(He did live Impromptus in all of the 1985-86 shows… basically a short improvised jam session where he sings the HIGHEST FREAKIN’ NOTES, LIVE!
At Wembley, on SATURDAY, JULY 12, there’s a recently REMASTERED HD video of Fred’s Impromptu by:
VIDEO REMASTER ITA channel. (Their remasters - they’ve done a few of other Queen live performances too - are UNBELIEVABLE.😳)
Wow 🥰 loved it liked subscribed 😁 more queen reactions please 😍❤️ Freddie Mercury ❤️
Beautifull.....Beautifull.....Beautifull....Beautifull....my fred .... Beautifull voice ....
heres freddie impromptu from wembley 1986:............
Фредди уникальный вокалист.Может спеть все,что угодно❤
Great reaction. Mike Moran on piano. Freddie only on vocals👍
In my opinion the first iteration of this song came at the end of the track Man Made Paradise from the Mr. Bad Guy album of 1985 starting at 3 min 19s. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/Gb7Aj8Zydyo/видео.html
This is so very special, hauntingly beautiful and hypnotic, I always go into a semi trance when listening to this, Freddie is the gift that keeps on giving.
I'll ping you across some work Freddie Mercury had recorded at Garden Lodge / studio I'll send them to your private messages on instagram
I purchased that album back in the day. I found that track disturbing as I was young and ignorant. I don't know why he recorded it but one never knew what to expect from him. I shall now dig down my storage and revisit as well as other less well know tracks on other albums collecting dust. Being an old fart, I'm still not too old to learn. Thank you for your reaction. May I just add that you have the most amazing speaking voice?
Listen to innuendo, white man with lyrics about American natives, 39 by Brian about universe from hot space album, you want to break free about women place in society etc
Thank you for saying these amazing words. Thank you xxxx
That was Freddie from start to end Mike Moran was playing piano. He does a version of it at Wembly 1986
Your title of your video are u questioning freddy? Please don't don't even have the balls too judge him don't make a fool out of yourself pal hes the best along with Elvis there voice's and charisma un matched!
A word for beautiful Freddie SUPERLATIVE.
Yes it's definitely Freddie.
Freddie mercury can sing everything from opera to pop rock and he is gentle and a great singer
It became Ensueno on the Barcelona album with montserrat. He sent that to her so she would know what they could do together. She sang it on the album. No he wasn’t playing the piano. Mike Moran played it and helped him with the Barcelona album.
I think they are two slightly different tunes
@@sandrabutler3752 yes. But it was the start of something similar. The piano is the same at the beginning. I’ll listen again when I have time.
Actually it is almost the same.
@@sandrabutler3752 it was his demo for ensueno
You have to see Barcelona
WHAT!? That first one sounded like a woman :0 wow incredible.
Dude i heard in an interview eith Freddie he tried to sang like an opera singer to see if the music he was making for Montserrat was good, but I'd never guess THIS is how he tested :0
If you want to listen to Freddie doing something similar live, watch "Rock in Rio Blues" 1985. Freddie did an amazing vocal improvisation with very high notes.
Montserrat say Freddy you have perfect voice for Opera. I think him love Opera a lot, and yes you play the piano here.
Yes,it's Freddie. Mercury, the messenger of the gods..He created this as a demo for Monsterat Caballet, the opera diva he recorded Barcelona with. They did an album of the same name & it was a very big deal. There s a beautiful video .of them perform Barcelona & the other songs. It's magnificent. This cut is redone on the album with both of them singing. He did the de mo
cover Great pretender
recorded Jan 87
released Feb 87
B side excersisess in free love
which they performed as an ice braker when they met montsarat
which became ensuno
they then recorded the single barcalona released oct 87
b side excersises in free love
Yes that's freddie the one and only 🤩🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love him beyond ❤ xxx
Unfortunately there are some who do not know how good Freddie's voice is!!.. they only see and remember Freddie for the 80s like I want to Break free and Radio Ga ga...obviously apart from their anthems. Now you have heard Freddie's outstanding, beautiful and phenomenal voice for yourself. Yes, this was ALL Freddie, but the piano was Mike Moran. This is where Freddie goes into collaboration with Montserrat Caballe a famous opera Soprano. Barcelona, the Golden Boy, Guide me home / how can I go on...le Japonaise..sung in Japanese!! React to Rio Blues in Rio..this is Freddie's improv...if you thought his voice was high here....check out Rio Blues..!!! I hate it when people put Freddie and Michael Jackson up against one another yet do not use this song as an example of Freddie's extraordinary voice... He was 4 Octaves and his voice was looked into by scientists...which you can also see on RUclips.
Listen to Ensueno where they sing it together. Monserrat is the soprano. He sings Baritone. He says she wanted him to sing in his natural range which he almost never does.
Freddie adored opera hence his album with Monserrat Caballe
One more song called machines when computer starting to be introduced in our lives.
De Argentina ...reacciona a Barcelona con Montserrat Caballe
Another one you may want to hear Rachmaninoff Revenge, Freddie Mercury is fantastic on it.
ive got a feeling this song is on the Monserrat Caballe album they did together. There are no lyrics.
Yes that was our man
By himself??? What???? 🙀🙀. Wow! Never would I have thought he would blow my mind again. That was something out of this world. His voice was SPECTACULAR!!!! God bless is soul 💯🙏🏾🙌🏿🥰
@@awordfrompresidentpat1985 yes all him alone with his piano. Check out barcelona its not sad i promise he wrote that one to. Missed you on here!

Golden Boy - Freddie and Montserrat Caballe (very famous opera diva from Spain and Freddie's dear friend) performing together.
One of the many talents of Farrokh Bulsara.
you know roger taylor can sing higher than Freddie
Freddie Freddie Freddie there is no one better if there is let me know please 🤔
yes it was all our darling Freddie.... genious
Monseratt said his range went from tenor up to falcetto.
yes it was Freddie, the closer to death he got the closer he got to paradise.
Montseratte Caballe has a cover of this as a tribute to Freddie, that too is wonderfull
Woowie, what a voice!! Great you checked that one out. Loved your reaction as always dear!! Perhaps you want to react to some later stuff like In my defence or Let me in your heart again. Much bless youngman❤️
That is the greatest that I have heard from him, because it is so different.

You reacted the same as I did when I first listened to this! Freddie never fails to amaze me!
The 2012 remastered version is much better.
so we agree his underrated and appreciated lol.
thats Freddy himself !! i love it :)
