The Rx8 is great, most fail the same way so forum searching is easy. Hard to believe Mazda left so much craptastic in it for so many years. Absolutely love the car despite it's challenges. Bought my 04 with 124k on it 2 years ago without a compression test. 14k later it's still going.
Lucky Phil. I picked up my 05 with 142k and around 162k dropped the front rotor. BUT! She's a keeper so I'm rebuilding my original motor to swap for an aftermarket block later
My 2004 is crazy fast .. But unfortunately she went into a limp mode and I can’t really find many videos on it . I don’t want to have it towed into a shop when it’s probably a simple fix .
@@dgmdgm7271 I'm not sure if you are serious or sarcastic... But anyway, 2006. model compared to 2004-2005, have better rust protection, revised (2 kW) starter motor, upgraded ssv valve, different settings for OMP pump, transparent screen washer reservoir...
Hiya mate - Owner of an RX8 weekend car for the last couple of years. You mention slowly raising the RPM to 2.5k-3k RPM but shouldn't I wait for 5 mins or so for the engine to warm up first?? I get what you're saying about carbon build up but I then go on to a 'spirited drive' red lining it a few times through the gears whenever I drive her. I always thought revving a cold RX8 was more harmful then good...? P.S Great to hear from you! Missed you man (Think I mentioned you left me like my first date....!) P.S. 2 - Just had my front calipers swapped out as one was starting to stick! P.S.3 - AUTOSOL - I noticed the front headlights were starting to look a bit dusty. For £5 from Amazon I ordered some Autosol metal cleaner. Was quite abrasive when cleaning the headlights however it buffed out well and they look like new now. I'd suggest a lacquer or some sort of UV protection so you don't need to do that again in a couple of months time
i have a question, how do the renesis engines respond to procharging (low boost like 0.5 bar but similar torque curve to turbochargers) and is there anything you can do while rebuilding the engine to make it more.....explosion resistant (besides doing it right)
Hey man. I've seen your videos about what reliability mods to do on your rx8 but can you make a list with links? Moreover will a rx8 challenge be more reliable than a cosmo?
Here you go man: www.drivenbymadness.eu/parts-usa-europe-selection Too many factors. I haven't driven a Cosmo, but from a "new is better & safer" perspective, i'd choose the rx8.
@@Drivenbymadness so I was saving money the last summer.. 4000€ to be more specific. I found many cosmo(240hp) and challenges (192hp) (first gen bcz 2nd gen are over inflated) in that price point with 50.000-85.000km (most of them in great mechanical shape). What compression should be the minimum I should check and what other factors I should take into consideration except compression and rust
Moreover kinda random but what is your opinion on the weber bodykit (maybe Bayside Blue but if you have some hot recommends on colour drop em. I passed in a medical studies university and my parent will gift me the money for some mods)
@@paramecia6839 Personally I wouldn't touch a 192. If you can find a 231 with reasonable mileage or proof of a rebuild I'd go for that. If you can find a cosmo 20b for that price... damn I'd take that. 3 rotor TT would be a riot.
@@mx3fto well for some reason tt are hella overpriced in Europe. I found as I said many Cosmos and challenges. Specifically I found a cosmo with only 50.000km and 7 compression but the owner lives in an island (no biggie. I'll just pay 3100k instead of 3000k). The only "bad thing" about his car is the terrible plasti dip he had made that I'll probably ask him to remove. I'll change the body kit and re spray the car (probably sth like Bayside Blue.. No biggie)
This man is a true legend in the Rx8 community
I'd like to point one issue/question. Why would you want to sell your RX8?
You are a blessing to the ever shrinking RX8 community. You've helped me a lot in the past and hopefully will help new owners in the future

I love this guy; he offered great help to RX8's future owners and current ones. He is a true legend and deserves support. ❤

Thank you very much Ahmed, it really means a lot 😊
There is actually a three phases of rx8, 2004-2005, 2006-2009 and 2009-2011... And differences between 2005 and 2006 model are significant.
Please tell us , what's the difference.

Street porting the renesis by a professional with a decat and tune will help lower the explosive risk while supporting more boost.
CAN I FIX THIS?
No
This should be put on more questions...
What next videos about?

Yes bro. RX8 the amazing these were made for car guys. If a none car guy gets they drive it to the ground and make them get a bad rep
