Forget the millions of dollars, millions of adoring fans, being surrounded by models, being treated like royalty wherever you go….the dream for a drummer is product endorsements and having someone else set up your gear.
@@mikeblust855 just look at the amount of work and how much time it takes. plus he has to be able to play the drums. I have a question too. Are you a drum tech too and it's easy for you? this is just a question)
Lot of work being drum tech I recently watched what Neil Perts drum tech also had to before shows monumental tasks these guys have to do no way the drummer himself can do by himself major props 🥁🤘
Cool to see Justin doing his thing! I remember him playing in PVRIS now doing this! Dude is so humble and we as maggots appreciate all the work he and the whole crew do!
As a 50-year-old retired professional drummer I got my start in the business as a tech. It was honestly one of the best things I could have ever done because that opened all the doors to the playing opportunities. Plus when you work for others, you learn how to treat people when you're on the other side of the fence and people work for you. I was never mean to my tech's but I can't say the same for the people I worked for. Rule number one and always remember it "be nice"!!! Lastly as a tech use glass cleaner for your final application when you're cleaning your cymbals. It gets all the cymbal cleaner off plus you get a better shine.
I want to know how many crash cymbals Jay goes through. He rides that right hand crash for a lot of songs and I can only imagine he’ll crack at least one every 2 shows.
I have the same crash, and I hit it just as hard as him and so far I’ve only broken 1 and it took a year, they’re surprisingly resistant for how hard I hit them
@@jayweinbergfans I have the 16" and 18" versions of that crash, as well as the 20" Jay uses. I actually don't like the 20" terribly much once I got it (it sounds way better when Jay uses it with the Knot). But my 18 sits at the front right the same as Jays 20 to crash and ride on, and I fuckin LOVE it, I have had it for a few years at this point, never cracked it once. Easily my favorite cymbal I've ever had. I use to break cymbals all the time when I was younger, its a technique problem mostly. But I got better and don't really break cymbals very often anymore, but then again they are cymbals, some are bound to break at some point regardless. But Jay and those guys are on another level, with the type of music being played, the type of performance that must be put on, add in the fact to replace the $400 cymbal is a non-issue, plus his cymbals get polished every single show, I'm sure he cracks a few of them each tour.
Putting microphones in the drums is such an underrated characteristic from a playing perspective. Just takes away the risk of hitting the microphones while playing
It also helps with the sound because you don’t have as much cymbals bleeding into the Tom mics, it takes a few minutes longer to set up but it’s so worth it.
Not a bad gig bud.. people don’t know about the drum tech or other techs on stage. Mine back in the day was “ Bunny Berkowitz “ who was Johnny on the spot and kept my Ludwigs pretty as a picture..
Yeah i agree with you, do you know the OP?? Id like to see what other content he/she has. I really liked this video and if its been borrowed and reposted id like to check out the original posters other content. Thanks if you can point me in the right direction. Cheers
I know I had a chuckle when he said that too, but I get what he means by “not a star pattern”. Since he’s doing 2 at once and going along the rim it’s not really a star but it has the same function as a star pattern
Of course, drummers know how to build their own setup. The techs build it the way the musicians need it. But when you play such a big show like Slipknot for example, you just don't have the possibility to do it all by yourself. It's not ONLY setting up and playing, as you can see there's a lot more involved in that! Plus sometimes it happens that directly after the shows everything has to be dismantled and brought to the next city, to the next gig. There you need as a musician people who take this over for you, I presume that after their shows their have simply no longer the strength to do that all by themselfes. It's not just playing that a professional musician encounters there. You have to prepare yourself, maybe you have interviews or other public appearances (besides the concerts).
Zildjian make more sense since it uses b20 metal alloy that has more dynamic and easy to mix and recording compared to most paiste b8 alloy that too bright
SORRY EVERYBODY!!! JOEY JORDISON WAS/IS GOD!!!! He did WAY more that just play drums & Slipknot's music has reflected that since he's been outta the band!!!!
It could be arena policy, or maybe just bc it’s on video he put it on so that it’s a good influence. Nevertheless it doesn’t matter if he’s wearing a mask it doesn’t change anything

Couldnt have said it better myself
Bruh for real.
Ya bro totes magotes. You ain’t whistlin Dixie
An endorsement for ANY musician is right at the top of the mountain! Even if its not omni- present from the start, its a FANTASTIC realization!!!!

I must say it is very difficult to be a drum tech. He does brilliant work🤟
Why would you say it is difficult? I’m not disagreeing, just curious.

Yes well said.

glass cleaner on brass? i think not my man...
Thank you for such a great work to do❤️
"I don´t do the star pattern, i do the opposite from where i start..." that´s the star pattern. ;-) Still, great work... that kit sounds very good!
I had a chuckle at that part too
Same
Amazing video. Amazing drum tech.
I love it!
Such a great video. Thanks for doing it.
That's a nice set up Jay. Very clean.
Wow 😯 I would love to have his job
Yes!! Great job man
I love the devotion to your craft
Kind of drummer’s guardian angel.

@@jayweinbergfans How would you know, you stole this video from the original poster
@@jd0879there’s a video of Jay with the mic company explaining this.
I am very happy to see this video as a Slipknot fan and a Dewalt fan. hahahahahha

How often do you change the resonant heads?

♥️♥️♥️🔥
Drum techs are the grease on the wheels...the train doesn't run smooth without them
What’s the name of the e-kit that you set up? I’m looking for a new one and I might end up getting that one
Would be a hectic job
does he clean his rags?
WHEN YOU STUDY
What electric drum kit is that?
BTW, who is Jay Weinburg?
Drummer for Slipknot, go check him out he’s awesome.
That is a crap load of work. I remember hating to disassemble and do the setup for a single gig. Everynight? I couldn't do it.
I think that is a Job you had to life for. Or are at least a really big Slipknot Fan.
Two 12" Toms? Or 12" and 13" ?
The toms are, (from left most to right most), 10, 12, 13, 16, 18
The opposite lug of the one you just tuned is the same thing as a star pattern technique…

What Snare is That? Damn it’s Thick!
Jay weinberg signature snare 48 ply
Too busy, check out Jazz drummers, 5 pc kits. I love SK too, but seems a bit much.
Do drummers even know how to set up their drums anymore? Techs are the shit!
They definitely do but they have other stuff they need to do to prepare for shows, having techs makes it much less stressful for the drummers

Why were you wearing a mask in a room by yourself?
Slipknot drums and crappy elevator music.
facemuzzle is so rediciulus. take it off
I thought you people went away by the end of 2020
For the love of god, take off that mask! there is noboody in the room😂
