What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

I wouldve kept my mouth shut if a family was praying . But if I heard another atheist say something like that I'd most likely yell at them or tell them to shush. Cause I was raised to not discriminate anyone no matter, there race, sexuality, and religion. (I'm atheist)
I’m an atheist myself but my best friend is a very religious Christian. Every time I go to her house and have dinner they say prayer- I completely respect that. Its their happiness and faith- you should never attack someone’s happiness.

Being a big city, San Antonio is pretty pgressive and likely has a lot of secular influence, but I agree. Try this in New York or L.A.. In fact, it might be interesting to try it in San Francisco or Portland, some place with a very liberal culture and a high concentration of people from the lgbtq… community who might be in the restaurant. It would be interesting to see if they would support the praying family or the bitchy atheist.

As a Christian my family growing up prayed in public at restaurants and we still do. Never have been harassed for it…there will probably come a time where it will happen. We were taught no matter where we are at to be thankful for all the God gives us…it’s not meant to be preachy but if someone asks us why we are Christian’s (or why we pray)we would share why as they got the ball rolling so to speak by asking that question to us.

It’s crazy because I remember one time at a restaurant where I was with my family and we all said a prayer before dinner and some unknown customer complained to the manager about how us praying in public made her uncomfortable and that we should be removed from the restaurant. Well the manager sure enough told her if you don’t like it you can leave then and sure enough she left and and gave the restaurant a bad review on yelp 😂
Honestly praying in a public restaurant can bother anyone that doesn't like it. But you can't expect anyone to like it just because you do. Because that unknown customer had every right to do that even if you don't agree with it.

Ziffly no , actually those verses are all about the persons true intentions. if your intention is to pray in public just so people will see you and think you are holy, that is wrong. same with giving to charity. don’t tell people just so you can be praised. but if you wish to pray in public, there’s nothing wrong with that, it doesn’t have to be a big spectacle for people to notice. it’s all about intention.

I’m in high school and I do theatre and during show week we do a thing called tradition and at the end of tradition which is before our performances we do a group prayer and we ask all the ones who aren’t comfortable with it to step to the side and be silent. And most of the time we have quite a few in the prayer group. As a Christian it makes me very proud

Can I ask if you were raised in a religious family? I am 14 yr-old atheist and my Christian parents would force me to lead a prayer before every meal and sometimes in our evening devotion. How do i get through this? I mean I love my parents but they're crossing beyond the boundaries of my belief. I can't mind my own business for that matter :(

I pray with my family whenever we go out to eat at a restaurant and back then, I didn't really like praying cause I thought it was embarrassing until it was around 4-5 months ago, I went to a Cuban restaurant, this one waitress was about to give us other things and saw us praying and after we prayed, she said: "I know it sounds weird when I say this, but that was absolutely beautiful." Because of her, she showed me that there's never shame in praying in public and now I'm never afraid to do it before I eat.

It only becomes problematic when it's asked of everyone at a public event to pray a Christian prayer, only because to assume everyone in a public crowd is christian is ignorant and irritating.

Everyone has sinned and fallen short for grace, we have all lied, or stolen, or committed adultery, or used God’s name in vain even when we won’t even use our mothers’ names as words to express disgust. Most of us, honestly have done all of these things, and more that break the Ten Commandments of God. These evil actions might seem harmless to us, but the truth is our moral standards are customized to fit us to make us feel less guilty, but God’s standards are perfect, He is the righteous God; therefore, He would not ignore what we have done, and do nothing about it. After we die, He will judge us, on the Judgement Day, He will judge us, and would surely send all of us to Hell. The Bible says “for the wages of Sin is Death”, our Death proves that God is very serious about Sin. But, God is also Love, He is the merciful God, He doesn’t want us to perish, so, He took upon a human flesh with the name Jesus Christ, and suffered and died for us on the Cross, and was resurrected back into life on the third day after His death. He did all of this to save us from our punishment and condemnation. When in court the judge can let you go free if somebody pays the fine for you, that’s what Jesus did. The Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law, you and I broke it, Jesus payed the fine, so that whosoever would believe in Him and love Him above all things and repent, would enter to the Kingdom of God. I don’t know what you have gone through, but Christ knows, for the Bible says He knows every tribulations we have gone through, and knows and understands our every thought. If you seek Him, you shall find strength. Trust Him like you trust a parachute when on a broken plane.
All prandpas love their grand children dearly, and I’m sure your grandpa loves you very much as well; therefore, I am sure that if there is anything he wants you to know, is that you need Christ, for who wouldn’t want his dear grandchildren to go to Heaven when that one day comes… I believe it is your grandpa’s wish for you to see this comment, so is it God’s wish, so God used me to preach to you the Gospel. Me too. In the first example, they had her act in a very aggressive manner. However, after that she was not nearly as aggressive and even showed them respect. She was wrong in that praying in a manner that didn't disturb anyone was their right, but the aggression showed towards her was also wrong.

It’s a common prayer in Texas among the southern Baptist community especially among the young. My step-sister, step-brother, and 2 of my cousins are southern Baptist and use it. My brother, step-father, and mother are non-denominational Protestants and use personal prayers at every family dinner and I just give them a moment of silence during it as I’m an atheist.

i had been in this situations a lot of times when I was in Asia, and i couldn't stand out for myself, everyone around agreed with the bullies too. Being a Christian in some asian countries is a nightmare honestly.

@@usjta idk, everyone has their own belief and opinions, we grow in different enviroments and have different experiences. As long as we're happy and it doesn't harm anybody, i think it's alright. Most of people judge when they don't understand. The Asian believe in Buddism and Confucianism, and they think everything Christian do is forgeting their ancestors and praying in some God that's unreal and invisible. But actually, in many Christian convents around the world, they take care of orphans, disabled kids, old people and the homeless. It's true that believing in God makes my atheist friends and people uncomfortable. But it makes me happy and proud being a christian no matter what. I have spent many years learning about religions, and there was time i stopped believing in anything but myself. In the end, i think being a Christian is the best suit for me, as i love taking care and teaching children, also praying with them.

@@usjta you're right. actually, my reason is personal tho. in a very very hard time of my life, i was helped by a Catholic nun. So i was so insprired by her. It's all about experiences, like the Chritian-hatred in Asia, but i also felt a lot of love when i was studying Buddhism in Thailand. so i can't say all the Asian hate Christian, and i can't say all Christian are good and charitable. it's different for people, you know. The picture of God in my mind is the face of the nun that day, who stayed beside me when nobody would. but to some people, it might be someone to fear, or a friend to talk to.

I always experience people just like this every day but it’s something I know will be a part of life.
I was at work when my sister called. I had told my boss my dad was in the hospital so I had my phone on vibrate in my pocket. When I got the call, I told my manager and she let me take an early break. I found out he had a massive stroke as they were moving him out of icu. I was fighting tears when a customer saw the look on my face and asked me if she could pray with me. She will never know just how grateful I was for her prayer in my time of need. If you feel the need to pray, then do so. I will sit or stand as a Christian and fellow child of God for your right to worship.
I'm a Christian and we always pray thankfully no one he's said anything. In school I'd pray silently with my eyes close. My best friend who's an atheist knows when i got my eyes close I'm praying so she never interrupts and when she eats with my family my father prays and she just bows her head down or stares. She has told me it doesn't bother her she's happy with what i believe. We always have a mutual respect for each other.

I’m an atheist but I believe everyone should be allowed to practice their own religion. It is so weird that people have such a stuck up attitude about religious practices.
