Song: "The Kids Aren’t Alright"
Lyrics:
When we were young the future was so bright (Whoa)
The old neighborhood was so alive (Whoa)
And every kid on the whole damn street (Whoa)
Was gonna make it big and not be beat
Now the neighborhood's cracked and torn (Whoa)
The kids are grown up but their lives are worn (Whoa)
How can one little street
Swallow so many lives?
Chances thrown, nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard, hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams
(Go!)
Jamie had a chance, well she really did (Whoa)
Instead she dropped out and had a couple of kids (Whoa)
Mark still lives at home 'cause he's got no job (Whoa)
He just plays guitar and smokes a lot of pot
Jay committed suicide (Whoa)
Brandon OD'd and died (Whoa)
What the hell is going on?
The cruelest dream, reality
Chances thrown, nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard, hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams
(Go!)
Chances thrown, nothing's free
Longing for what used to be
Still it's hard, hard to see
Fragile lives, shattered dreams

@peterpark2525 50"... oh my, in their 50s... hahaha, they're still kids!! Ask me how I know... 😂🤣😂 I'm still living my "youthful years"! My saying is... "I AINT DEAD YET"!
These guys in their fifties and a lot of their fans at 0:49 are of the same age. Shout out to all of them guys like myself

If not the best, definitely one of the most recognizable from it's era.

Last time I saw The Offspring in concert was Woodstock '99. It's nice to see they're still out there killing it.
you've been a witness of rock n roll history
I saw them back in 2014 I think( don’t remember the year), and they killed it.
how was limp bizkit
@@andybinau1697 That set was absolutely fucking insane. I got punched in the face during Break Stuff and was in Fred Durst's line of sight when he was trying to get security to let him crowd surf on the plywood to the speaker set up. The group I was with were all pissed when they wouldn't let him go haha
I also met Vern Troyer (Mini Me from Austin Powers) later that night and we talked about everything that happened to that point at Woodstock. Limp Bizkit was the main point of conversation.
Woodstock fucking sucked in many ways, but it was awesome and totally unforgettable in others. I'm so glad I went.
@@sgtleobella thats fucking dope man thanks for sharing
This song hits you differently when you got older.
You start to remember some childhood friends that for some reason went to different paths and someday you get to know that something sad happened to, a disease, some accident or just succumbed to drugs and you get really sad, and somehow feel a little guilty thinking if you were close tho them, some things wouldn't happened, but that's life, I suppose.
You’re spot on. I knew too many from my youth that died from drugs or messed up their lives.
I supose. But I'm sure they remember you too the same way.
@@bojengels1 it's interesting, how even far away, I'm from Brazil, it all happens the same way, choices are choices, no matter what.

Arf great sont. But the voice sounds different... i didn't recognize his voice. Great song anyway.
Well, he is old now and also is one tone down
Love how they go as hard as ever but in the late legend stages of their careers they all look chill and calm no matter how fast they are playing
Seeing 50+ year old guys performing this song as if they were 20 years old, but even better than when they were 20, is something priceless, and KIDS should learn something from this.
The lyrics of the song dó hit hard tbf. They were right. When we we young, we thought this song was just a great feast to listen to.
When we grew older, we realized, they were warning us?
"The Kids arent Allright"... that title really hits hard on reality today.

Wow, they still sound great after so many years. That's cool.
Don't think these vocals are live.
@matthewchunk3689 Well those vocals are NOTHING like what the actual original is. If you think they are, you need help from Baby Jesus 😂
It's not the original vocal track but it sounds pitch corrected and autotuned
I wish I got to see them do Gone Away, like the album version, live. It's such a powerful song and you can just feel the raw emotion in Dexter's voice. Not gonna lie, I was kinda pissed when five finger deathpunch covered it. It was terrible.
Yes and five finger deat punch cover is also mainstream, ive heard it many times on radio. What a shame

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? THE CRUELEST DREAM, REALITY."

The lead singer getting dragged unwillingly into the uptempo by the drummer, the lead guitarist gets it right away and loves it, and the bassist is totally confused until the last 30 secs😂😂😂😂
this song reminds me a sooo good parts of my life when i was a child / teen sooo good, can't stop listenening to Offspring songs
Anjing bener, enak lagu ini sampai kapan pun, all the best the offspring
I love that so many singers sound even better as they age
That's what I immediately thought. I just watched Offspring at Woodstock '99 and 'Pretty Fly' sounded like normal Dexter Holland, but "The Kids Aren't Alright" sounded like his voice wasn't necessarily bad on that song, but was worn out from the entire concert- I assume that song was later in their set. I came to this video expecting his voice to be a lot worse because of how much these guys have aged since 1999, but sure enough, he sounds absolutely fucking amazing here, given that it's been over 20 fucking years. I will say, it's crazy to watch a video from 2022 directly after one from 1999... it is like a time capsule, but in a matter of five minutes. The 90s had the best era of music hands down, and it isn't even fucking close. Just... amazing. Truly sad I was born in 1996 and not 1986 or honestly even in 1980. I imagine being a teenager in the 90s era was something incomparable.
I don't know but for me this is better than when they perform on woodstock 99.
