Yep, it's beautiful, there's no doubt about that. But I'm definitely a bit weird, as I prefer walking two kms through an open pit mine, over crowds 😊. Having said that, I'm glad I went and experienced it. It's obvious why so many people love it.
Those skinny bows are probably because they are post spawn, given the time you were there. Regarding Maligne, I've fished it a few times and from what I can glean people in the know rig those freighter canoes with a boat load of batteries and fish up around Spirit Island and further chasing the illusive record brookies that don't exist anymore. The lake produced the AB record Brookie back in the early 80s. We can only use electric motors there yet the park runs tourist hauling gas powered motor launches and run up down the lake all day long. Go figure. Great video Aaron! Thanks for bringing us along.
Yep, you're right about the skinny rainbows. They're called kelts, and are post spawn. It's funny, I'm not used to fishing lakes that don't have stocked diploids. 😊. I never really mind not catching fish - so it really had nothing to do with that. It's just the huge noisy boats and the large number of people that kind of turned me off. And I have no judgement at all - it's definitely an amazing place, and I'm glad I went to see it. It's just not for me.
Very nice! I fished muskiki early ice this year that was pretty cool caught some nice ones on chronamids as well. As for the pit lakes I've fished them all and anything with red seems to produce on those lakes! Quite possibly my favorite trout lakes I'm Alberta for rainbows anyway.
The lack of fish had nothing whatsoever to do about my lack of enthusiasm for Malign. I just don't like crowds. Big noisy boats going by every 15 minutes creating huge waves, and hundreds of people all over the place, is just not my thing. It was a beautiful place, but no matter the fishing, I won't go back. I like fishing places where I can find peace and enjoy the feeling of being in nature - it's why I do so many solo river trips. Malign is just too busy for me - no judgement, just not for me, that's all. 😊
Butterfingers!🤣Those kind of releases are more fun. Those "sea snakes" you got in Maligne were kelts - those fish had spawned and are on the recovery trail. They'll be nice and fat again next year. The videos are even better when you're both operating cameras, another great adventure. I miss those Muskiki cutties.
Yea, that makes sense. I'm not used to fishing lakes that aren't stocked with diploids 😊. I'm always wishing I had someone to operate another camera or two 😊 - maybe you, this spring...
Nice compilation!
Yeah, Maligne is an absolute sh*t show with all the people. If it wasn't just so damn beautiful!

Another great video. Really like the split screen sections. Nothing better than brothers fishing together
Thanks! The split screen editing requires the most work, so I appreciate the comment, and yes, l love fishing with my brother!😀

Very nice fish!
Thanks!
Great job Aaron! That was a great trip!
It sure was! 😊

Nice! Love Muskiki, but, yea, I'm with you - I love the pit lakes more 😊
Love the video. It takes many years to learn the secrets of Maligne. When you do yoy can have many 50 fish plys days.
