[TECH TOUR] A 7-Second Quartermile WRX That Turns Corners... Fast
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 21 мар 2016
- A WRX that runs 7.7-second quarter miles and competes competitively in time attack racing with a simple change of the tyres and sway bars? It doesn't really seem realistic, does it? But that's exactly what Andy Forrest's savage WRX is capable of. Andy, who hails from Scotland, shipped his Subaru down to Sydney for the 2015 World Time Attack Challenge, and was good enough to spend a little time showing us around his 1200hp genre-bending monster.

The most informative interview I've ever seen! Insane car
Andre is the best interviewer. Always great interviews.
Hope this car comes back to WTAC.
Andy is a total Subaru guru. He mapped my wrx, on the road, turned it into the best car I have ever owned. He is also a really nice guy.
finally a normal guy talking real car shit. awesome video.
It's so refreshing to hear somebody talk that knows what the hell they are talking about.
Thanks Matt! We're lucky that Andy is very generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge too - Taz.
THIS is how car should be tuned.
Fantastic video guys, 7.7 seconds 1/4 for a time attack car is straight NUTS
Jolinator that's impressive for just about any build, especially a wrx mid differential setup.
Jolinator 7.7 1/4 mile is pretty nuts in the first place
How the F does it do that?
How mcuh does it weight??
A man that knows what he's talking about. Refreshing.
What a thoroughly charming and knowledgable chap he is. He literally knows the systems and theories inside out! Can’t believe how well he came across too!
Wonder if he could apply some of his magic to my car.
He certainly knows his stuff and it's great meeting people like this that are willing to share some of their hard-earned knowledge. Keep an eye out for the update on this car in the next 2 weeks, it's every more impressive now - Taz.
Finally. A EG33 gets some HARDCORE love :O) One of my favorite engines.... Thanks for the (highly detailed) interview. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! - Taz.
OvalWingNut Yeah, you almost never see them swapped into all the other monster imprezas.
Too bad it's not still in the SVX! Now that's something you never see, BIG HP SVX.
Andy is a bit of a legend here in Scotland. I've seen him out on the public roads where I live mapping it. The 7.7 quarter is quick. Most Americans struggle to get near that with 2 more cylinders and a another 1000bhp on top. Serious respect to Andy. Hi from Scotland
thankyou for asking some interesting questions
Thanks for watching :) - Ben
This is the template engine setup for my futture Legacy. Andre is that good an interviewer in terms of his thoughtful and appropriate questions and how he listens and considers the responses he gets that I'll probably have to abandon any qualms about his rate of speech. Glad I kept watching, I am new to the channel obviously. Good work. (Thanks Taz.)
Awsome video guys! Was the best interview I've watched in quite some time. Very informative an well thought out!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
That's some high-level ECU tuning shit. Excellent job, boys!
Just when you start to think you "know some things about cars (Subarus)" this guy comes along and makes you look like a 2 year old with a hot wheels car lol... insanely knowledgeable. extremely interesting and entertaining interview!
Thanks for the comment! Andy is certainly a very clever and genuine man and we're excited to see how the car in its new form goes at this years World Time Attack Challenge next month - Taz
Stumbled upon this page and instantly subscribed. Great interview.
Awesome watch, cheers guys.
+Fullboost thanks mate! Great car isn't it!
Fullboost big fan of both channels. AFP is once again heading down under for wtta this year. Would be nice to see how improved his wrx is now.
3 years ago and still more advanced then the average supercar wow
The amount of knowledge this man has is awesome !
Andy forrest is a top bloke
Man it's brilliant the way you lead the interview to allow Andy to share his wisdom on the setup. This car is pure genius. You can tell it's the result of many many hours of hard work and sweat. congrats guys! Does Andy do tuning and setup for other customers?
Cheers for the kind words mate! Countless hours have gone into this thing for sure.
AFP, or Andy Forrest Performance is what you want to be Googling. He's based in Scotland - Taz.
Brilliant watch, much of what was discussed has peaked my enthusiasm and that's a great thing as a professional. After following Andy's handy work at Ten of the Best back when he was using a MicroTech ECU, it's thoroughly impressive to hear him describe is present race car. As always, the gentlemen over at HP Academy have brought another epic interview to professionals and enthusiasts alike.
Great going with this one gentlemen, I enjoyed it; off to have another watch 👍🏻
when the gentlemen was discussing the engine build, TC and management system, I knew this was gonna be good :)
This is the only channel that includes these indepth details about every aspect of these masterpiece's.
Sub'd
regards
Dave
damn, this car is absolutely insane. the best of both worlds in a wrx, who woulda known? goes to show all it takes is a good engineer and tuner
🙂
Very nice interview (accents included) he was very patient and passionate def the types you want your info from. This interview also helped me a looking at my different set ups differently. Very good bruh.
Wow Andy knows his shit this interview was amazing.
nice vid, its great to listen to people that really know the ins and outs of there setup
+fatchance Andy is a straight up bad arse tuner. He really knows his stuff. - Ben

Awesome interview and great detail! Thank you for the in depth interview.
Our pleasure! - Taz.
Control systems engineering baby... Man is that guy impressive
Very technical & informative love it thanks HPA, keep up the good work.
hands down best tech vids with the best content and no bullshit
Thanks for the comment and support mate - Taz.
Excellent interview. TV personalities just seem shit compared to this guy who clearly knows what to ask and the guy who he is interviewing is a fucking genius.
This man is the Lord of the Subarus...
Incredible interview..................need to put it in a stock body Impreza and watch others cry.
This guy really knows everything about his car!!
What a great interview Andre ! Andy seem like he has a wealth of knowledge !
Amazing how far aftermarket ECU's have come. Astounds me what you are able to do with products that are readily available.
Great to see Andy's Subaru on here being from the uk it's been around a while and is an immense package. Well done Andre on the interview.
"It started as a street car" every race car driver ever
The elder Gentleman, sounds like He has tons of knowledge with regard to dynamics of these motors ie;.Engine, suspension (traction control), (ECU)-shift match timing...all Balanced for true performance on an all wheel drive 1200hp car...very interesting. Super cool, thanks for this video...good job HPA!
Wow amazing car and very knowledgeable guy, that time in the quarter mile to boot in this kinda of car is very impressive.
Incredible, just incredible
You are the Man Andy!!!
Wow. Let's get Andy back!
great interview! I feel like I've learned a bunch from both . Sweet car also.
Cheers for the kind words and glad to hear you enjoyed the vid! Keep an eye out for more every Tuesday - Taz.
Andy's a legend! Repping Scottish tuning scene
Damn this guy really knows his stuff I’m just impressed by his knowledge 😳
Thanks Andre. That guy is very clever and explains things so well. You should do a feature on the car with some video too. :)
this was so informative. great interview
Excuse me sir!!!! You are my hero! Lol I have to build my RS coupe like this beast!
Ruining a car's ability to corner for straight line acceleration is imo kinda sad... this is a well built performing car!
This guy knows his business
Saw this car go at Knockhill many times , sounds great . He had bad luck not being able to run though , Good luck for this year Andy ,AFP ! , Greetings from Scotland , ta for the upload :-)
Great watch. Extremely educational too. Thanks!
Well, that pretty much covered everything lol. Great interview, amazing car.
Great interview. Lots of awesome info.
I have seen this run at ten of the best at york airstrip in the uk, it was awesome
This dude knows his shit
Andy is a legend and I remember when he first ran his scooby at TOTB. RC Evos were also pretty good and of course the RK Tuning and Abbey Motorsport Skylines
There were some great tuners around in the UK back then but now most of those shops have closed or don't compete so the scene is dead bar a few names
Informations!!! Thanks!!!
great video
This is my new favorite tech car channel 👍
Lmao at the older gentleman swinging his nuts around in the back 👍
amazing well thought out car .man nows his vehicle. very good interview alot a knowledge there 👍
AMAZING what an insight into what it takes many thanks from Scotland
Awesome car and great interview. Very informative. Thank you for asking the hard questions that most people avoid!
Want to be like Andre? We can't do anything about your accent, however, we can hook you up with some of the HPA branded gear that he wears.

Our first batch of stock is extremely limited, so get in quick! - Taz.
That's a very tidy sounding setup, and a really informative interview. Thanks!
Baddest Subaru on the planet!!! 💯%
I had no idea this level of technology was in these cars.
Most Honest Racer Ever! Thanx For The Info Nice Ride
Wow he really maxed out everything to regulation limit. Insane!
Did he say it revs out to 9K?
Not that crazy for Subarus. The us spec sti only rev to 6.7k but the global market sti revs to 8k. This engine is just an ej22 with 2 extra cylinders so 9k isnt that much of a stretch.
@@natesmith9007 it's still stroked on top of that
@@Johnny-tq9no freaky piston speeds at 9k rpm with 90mm stroke lol
@@nicoleibundgut534It's a 79mm stroke, same as the ej25. It was originally 75mm, like the ej18/20/22. So piston speeds are considerable more reasonable lol!
THIS GUY IS A GENIUS!!!
Love the EG33.
freaking beast of a car.
Sure is mate! I'm glad we got the chance to speak to Andy about it. - Ben
This guy's brain is a computer. Reminds me on Christian Koeingsegg
siven point siven
Great vid. Looking forward to this car progress
+OpticalNZ thanks mate. Hopefully we will see it again at WTAC 2016 :) - Ben
Amazing and informative interview!
The most impressive Subaru ever built
Beast! 👍👍👍 go the Rex
Insane project!
This Scottish guy knows his shizzle
This is the worst nightmare for evo owners lol
Hector Mendoza Not even boxer four cylinder subie engine. Lame.
Nice Try It's a Subaru flat six what do you mean? If anything it's better than the 4 cylinder.
4g63 and honda guys are already in the 6s and 7s Subarus are too expensive and weak to build for these kinds of conditions
Western diamond back Rattlesnake Exactly. Worlds fastest evo is only .2 seconds off this time being a 1.8L lmao
Not many cars can do both, almost any car can be fast in a straight line with enough money but can it do it reliably. At the end of the day you would still be driving a "Honda" which is not as cool by any means.
122 Evo owners disliked 😆
really cool to just sit and watch how this guy set everything up, pretty clever. he said theat they are worried about making too much noise and raising egt with an ignition cut, yet you see antilag and 2step and wot box setups using an ignition cut all the time, do these cars have to acheive a certain noise and emissions standards? are they worried about burning parts up with fireballs with an ignition cut?
Great question, we'll have to ask him next time we see him!
A lot of tracks have noise restrictions, and the WTAC is in Australia which seems to be very strict on everything so at a guess the car is aimed at complying with the track regulations there, although there might well be similar rules at the cars local stomping ground too - Taz.
Sweet lord😮😮
Wow now that's a well tuned car absolutely amazing man knows his shit
Think when the aero is sorted its gonna put some good times down
1:11 dude in the background on the right in the shorts. When it's hot and sticky outside and your left ball is wrapped around your right leg...
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching and getting involved! - Taz.
1:16 guy in the background under the tent 😂😂
ruclips.net/video/6m47EQtAMzI/видео.html - Taz.
I wanted to see it run
Great video!
Thanks +LGx. Appreciate the support :) - Ben
that moment youget a first glimpse on the car after reading the title: O.O WHAT!!!!
Great interview. Thank you
When I did a motor swap wish someone told me about the SVX motor then
for once a video I'd like some subtitles ;) Cheers, keep it up!
love wrx
