Andy is a bit of a legend here in Scotland. I've seen him out on the public roads where I live mapping it. The 7.7 quarter is quick. Most Americans struggle to get near that with 2 more cylinders and a another 1000bhp on top. Serious respect to Andy. Hi from Scotland
What a thoroughly charming and knowledgable chap he is. He literally knows the systems and theories inside out! Can’t believe how well he came across too! Wonder if he could apply some of his magic to my car.
He certainly knows his stuff and it's great meeting people like this that are willing to share some of their hard-earned knowledge. Keep an eye out for the update on this car in the next 2 weeks, it's every more impressive now - Taz.
This is the template engine setup for my futture Legacy. Andre is that good an interviewer in terms of his thoughtful and appropriate questions and how he listens and considers the responses he gets that I'll probably have to abandon any qualms about his rate of speech. Glad I kept watching, I am new to the channel obviously. Good work. (Thanks Taz.)
Just when you start to think you "know some things about cars (Subarus)" this guy comes along and makes you look like a 2 year old with a hot wheels car lol... insanely knowledgeable. extremely interesting and entertaining interview!
Thanks for the comment! Andy is certainly a very clever and genuine man and we're excited to see how the car in its new form goes at this years World Time Attack Challenge next month - Taz
Man it's brilliant the way you lead the interview to allow Andy to share his wisdom on the setup. This car is pure genius. You can tell it's the result of many many hours of hard work and sweat. congrats guys! Does Andy do tuning and setup for other customers?
Cheers for the kind words mate! Countless hours have gone into this thing for sure. AFP, or Andy Forrest Performance is what you want to be Googling. He's based in Scotland - Taz.
Excellent interview. TV personalities just seem shit compared to this guy who clearly knows what to ask and the guy who he is interviewing is a fucking genius.
Brilliant watch, much of what was discussed has peaked my enthusiasm and that's a great thing as a professional. After following Andy's handy work at Ten of the Best back when he was using a MicroTech ECU, it's thoroughly impressive to hear him describe is present race car. As always, the gentlemen over at HP Academy have brought another epic interview to professionals and enthusiasts alike. Great going with this one gentlemen, I enjoyed it; off to have another watch 👍🏻
when the gentlemen was discussing the engine build, TC and management system, I knew this was gonna be good :) This is the only channel that includes these indepth details about every aspect of these masterpiece's. Sub'd regards Dave
Very nice interview (accents included) he was very patient and passionate def the types you want your info from. This interview also helped me a looking at my different set ups differently. Very good bruh.
The elder Gentleman, sounds like He has tons of knowledge with regard to dynamics of these motors ie;.Engine, suspension (traction control), (ECU)-shift match timing...all Balanced for true performance on an all wheel drive 1200hp car...very interesting. Super cool, thanks for this video...good job HPA!
really cool to just sit and watch how this guy set everything up, pretty clever. he said theat they are worried about making too much noise and raising egt with an ignition cut, yet you see antilag and 2step and wot box setups using an ignition cut all the time, do these cars have to acheive a certain noise and emissions standards? are they worried about burning parts up with fireballs with an ignition cut?
Great question, we'll have to ask him next time we see him! A lot of tracks have noise restrictions, and the WTAC is in Australia which seems to be very strict on everything so at a guess the car is aimed at complying with the track regulations there, although there might well be similar rules at the cars local stomping ground too - Taz.
Saw this car go at Knockhill many times , sounds great . He had bad luck not being able to run though , Good luck for this year Andy ,AFP ! , Greetings from Scotland , ta for the upload :-)
Want to be like Andre? We can't do anything about your accent, however, we can hook you up with some of the HPA branded gear that he wears. If you're interested check out our brand new merch shop for the details - shop.hpacademy.com/ Our first batch of stock is extremely limited, so get in quick! - Taz.
Not that crazy for Subarus. The us spec sti only rev to 6.7k but the global market sti revs to 8k. This engine is just an ej22 with 2 extra cylinders so 9k isnt that much of a stretch.
@@nicoleibundgut534It's a 79mm stroke, same as the ej25. It was originally 75mm, like the ej18/20/22. So piston speeds are considerable more reasonable lol!
Andy is a legend and I remember when he first ran his scooby at TOTB. RC Evos were also pretty good and of course the RK Tuning and Abbey Motorsport Skylines There were some great tuners around in the UK back then but now most of those shops have closed or don't compete so the scene is dead bar a few names
I couldn't find one with a quick search, must be something out there though. Just so you're not left with nothin' though...: ruclips.net/video/D16SSEb7ldw/видео.html - Taz.
Have this car ever been featured in Japanese Performance Magazine? It looks so familiar. It also kind of looks like a Rolls Royce;) Awesome car nevertheless.
Not many cars can do both, almost any car can be fast in a straight line with enough money but can it do it reliably. At the end of the day you would still be driving a "Honda" which is not as cool by any means.
Andy is a total Subaru guru. He mapped my wrx, on the road, turned it into the best car I have ever owned. He is also a really nice guy.
The most informative interview I've ever seen! Insane car
Andre is the best interviewer. Always great interviews.
Hope this car comes back to WTAC.
It's so refreshing to hear somebody talk that knows what the hell they are talking about.
Thanks Matt! We're lucky that Andy is very generous in sharing his wealth of knowledge too - Taz.
finally a normal guy talking real car shit. awesome video.

Fantastic video guys, 7.7 seconds 1/4 for a time attack car is straight NUTS
Jolinator that's impressive for just about any build, especially a wrx mid differential setup.
Jolinator 7.7 1/4 mile is pretty nuts in the first place
How the F does it do that?
How mcuh does it weight??
Finally. A EG33 gets some HARDCORE love :O) One of my favorite engines.... Thanks for the (highly detailed) interview. Cheers!
Thanks for watching! - Taz.
OvalWingNut Yeah, you almost never see them swapped into all the other monster imprezas.
Too bad it's not still in the SVX! Now that's something you never see, BIG HP SVX.
A man that knows what he's talking about. Refreshing.

+Fullboost thanks mate! Great car isn't it!
Fullboost big fan of both channels. AFP is once again heading down under for wtta this year. Would be nice to see how improved his wrx is now.
hands down best tech vids with the best content and no bullshit
Thanks for the comment and support mate - Taz.

thankyou for asking some interesting questions
Thanks for watching :) - Ben
Awsome video guys! Was the best interview I've watched in quite some time. Very informative an well thought out!
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it.
Amazing how far aftermarket ECU's have come. Astounds me what you are able to do with products that are readily available.
damn, this car is absolutely insane. the best of both worlds in a wrx, who woulda known? goes to show all it takes is a good engineer and tuner
🙂
Wow. Let's get Andy back!
3 years ago and still more advanced then the average supercar wow
Excellent interview. TV personalities just seem shit compared to this guy who clearly knows what to ask and the guy who he is interviewing is a fucking genius.
That's some high-level ECU tuning shit. Excellent job, boys!

Awesome interview and great detail! Thank you for the in depth interview.
Our pleasure! - Taz.
Very technical & informative love it thanks HPA, keep up the good work.
Control systems engineering baby... Man is that guy impressive

Most Honest Racer Ever! Thanx For The Info Nice Ride
Did he say it revs out to 9K?

"It started as a street car" every race car driver ever
Ruining a car's ability to corner for straight line acceleration is imo kinda sad... this is a well built performing car!
This man is the Lord of the Subarus...

Well, that pretty much covered everything lol. Great interview, amazing car.
You are the Man Andy!!!

1:11 dude in the background on the right in the shorts. When it's hot and sticky outside and your left ball is wrapped around your right leg...

Insane project!

Great vid. Looking forward to this car progress

This Scottish guy knows his shizzle
This is the worst nightmare for evo owners lol
Hector Mendoza Not even boxer four cylinder subie engine. Lame.
Nice Try It's a Subaru flat six what do you mean? If anything it's better than the 4 cylinder.
4g63 and honda guys are already in the 6s and 7s Subarus are too expensive and weak to build for these kinds of conditions
Western diamond back Rattlesnake Exactly. Worlds fastest evo is only .2 seconds off this time being a 1.8L lmao
