Stealing a video from a creator and 'adding' 15 minutes of brain numbing commentary is not good content. They call Matto untalented but the irony is incredible.
It doesn't matter how much they added. Addition is not transformation, it's stealing regardless of how much reactor rumbles. If he added 200 hours of commentary on top while also uploading the entire documentary, it would still be theft. It's not the effort or the length that matter, it's the reuploading of others work that matters here.

It may not be meaningful and have an actual impact on the world like engineering or sanitary work or working oil rigs, farming etc... but you're still creating a product or service that sometimes entertainers and informs while being paid for it, it's a job, it's work. You have channels like Wendover, Real Engineering then you have F1 channels, music channels, gossip channels, news channels, financial channels etc... Are they all equal in "importantance" and contribution to society or what's actually meaningful? No. But it's all still work, just different fields.

Honestly yes, so many people have spoken out about things they don't like before being absolutely forgotten after 12 minutes- matt's made a genuine lasting impression on the zeitgeist, even if it's not exactly the one he was aiming for it's still something in the right direction

Got into Matto's content for his GTA videos but stayed for his ability to defend the people in a way I've never experienced from a content creator. The man's sense of logic is nearly impeccable on every topic and he rarely makes a bad call once he's had the time to think things through. I think that's all some people could ask for in a role model sometimes tbh (not to deify him or anything, it's just a very aspirational quality to have imo)

For example: person X gets stopped by an LEO on the sidewalk because the LEO thinks the person in question being stopped clears the ID of a convict on the run. Person X complies with the LEO, doesn't run away and plays along, subsequently resulting in him being held up for nearly an hour. In the end it turns out, the convict on the run was not of the same sex, not of the same race and not of the same build as person X, and the LEO has mistaken person X, a fat asian guy, for a white skinny chick who's on the run for one reason or another. They both just happened to be named Kim Smith.
Afterwards, person X can contest the LEO's actions and highlight his ineptitude. Were the PD to physically or psychologically attempt to stop person X from doing so, they would be in the wrong and would undoubtedly get flak for trying to sweep the case under a rug.

I'm a dev, I know him quite well. He's a bad person so often, he's ego will take prevalence and will just try to lie to us-his audience. We'll see how braindead it is, especially since almost 80% of his viewers are above 25; not the usual kid that has kids as audience.
As someone who also watches Theo (I'm a web developer), I'm kind of in a tough spot where I think Theo actually does a good job at reviewing up and coming and newer technologies that someone else (me) doesn't have reaches to see every new tool that pops up in my industry.
That being said, his petulance regarding being told to remove an entire documentary does show him in a bad light. Super childish behavior and something I will keep in mind moving forward.

It's so refreshing to see someone that's actually reasonable. Someone who defends their position and brand with this much passion. These videos show me how many lies other "creators" tell themselves to think they're making content. Your content, whether it's detailed accounts on other creators, or GTA videos, or other games, it's consistently entertaining and informative. Something not many people accomplish anymore.

Hey Matt, just wanted to use this moment to tell you how very thankful I am for all the times you spoke out against injustice throughout the years.
I used to always kept my head down and just silently protest by myself when I came across people or deeds I viewed as immoral, even on the internet.
But thanks to you, your way of sharing your views on morality and your consistency in these views, even when faced with hate and pure arrogance of people who won't even consider listening to what you have to say, I learned that I have to take a stance and make myself heard whenever I come across something I perceive as wrong if I want it to stop.

It's been over 15 years, since I was a teenager, for me to hear "autistic", "schizophrenic", "gay" being used as actual attempts to insult someone.
It's actually a testament to how insensitive and childish they are and how little do they care about anyone other than themselves.
Found your channel recently and I admire the way you handle yourself. You’ve been personally attacked by these insecure streamers and not once have you stopped to their level. It bothers them so much that you can calmly and logically defend yourself while they melt down.
I'm a software developer who recently decided to subscribe to Theo. It wasn't until I saw his daily uploads I realised he was just releasing videos reading literal whole articles word for word, often adding nothing of importance. Without knowing the previous drama of Matt and Theo, I didn't like how he was reacting to content still, even if it was in article form. A lot of people look up to Theo and I was unaware of how much he shitstirs on others when he lacks originality himself. Shame on you Theo.
I no longer subscribe to Theo and don't care for his opinions any longer.
Even worse that he always admire next js and vercel no matter what (and how overpriced it is in fact). When he had an interview with the creator of VueJS, he still referred to nextjs all the time instead of talking about vue.
Theo must know that in hindsight, what he did was bad. Why else would he retell the story in such a different way compared to what happened.

i genuinely love and appreciate how although he may be involved in drama he stays on the morally right side, acknowledges the perspectives of all parties, and even respects the side that he doesn’t agree with by wording his thoughts in a way that doesnt attack the person directly but just an explanation of why he feels that they were wrong in the given situation

Describing what you've been doing lately as "done nothing" is so freaking obtuse it makes my brain hurt, you've been doing challenges on the gaming side as well as the react stuff, and both have been great content, I really love your ability to explain something in clear terms and clearly explain your opinion and position. I agree with most of them but not all, and I can appreciate where those differences are coming from.

Being in IT myself, I have watched Theo's content for his insight in the current programming landscape, he has professional software experience after all and his videos are fairly engaging.
That said, I never knew of the past and ongoing drama with Matt, now that I'm caught up I can't believe this even happened, totally unprofessional of Theo, lost all respect. We do need content like Theo's yes, professional software devs that provide their insight covering changes and emerging technologies in the dev industry, it is a fast-paced industry overall and covering something soon is a realistic thing to want to do to gain views. But, covering that HoneyPot video so soon and on the entirety of the video is just pure greed and a huge disservice to the original creators, Theo's reaction to being asked to take down his video is totally unwarranted.
It's petty but I've unsubscribed from Theo, it's hard to watch his content now knowing how unprofessional he's been to a respectable creator. Matt's definitely not just a gta content creator, his insight on RUclips and other creators are what we need in this messy hell hole. All that said, I'll just stick to Primeagen, way more deserving of views. Thanks Matt for covering this.

I hate to say this by the way, but in a stream from a while back, where Theo and ThePrimeAgen were watching a video together (the video itself was also a reaction-so like reaction to a reaction), Theo made a remark like "Ohno this will give Darkviper and aneurism", and PrimeAgen seemed to go with it and even kinda entertain it like it was a funny thing...
Not saying prime would behave himself like theo, but it was still sad to see and I thought it was worth mentioning.

I like critically analyzing the claims that are being made, so it's really fun when you speak in ways that for people who don't care and why they would rather want to compartmentalize thoughts and feelings that they disagree with, or it causes them grievance to consider why their viewpoints may be wrong; so for me when you speak in ways like this, it is very entertaining to be critically thinking and analyzing the words that you are saying so that way I can learn from it, or get a differing viewpoint to consider, extreme fun to be sure for me!

I responded to Theos tweet about this incident and he snarkily responded to me before blocking me. I feel like people these days almost seem too... dumb isn't the right word, but sort of tribal, and panicky about everything.

Thank you for the insightful video. I found them a bit iffy anyways as it just felt like their content was audiobooks for dev blogs. I also did not like the way that they disclose their sponsorships as it was always a "I am sponsored by them btw" and then a "trust me bro, I'm impartial". Now I feel like I do not trust their content in the slightest considering the way that they handled this situation.
I would also like to point out that one of their videos telling their viewers not to harass anyone (posted around 3 months ago), because of the amount of spam a tutorial from another content creator was creating unintentionally, (from what I can remember) heavily implied that people should go comment on that video and ask for it to be removed... And even better, that content creator did the same thing about adding a pinned comment and telling people to not make test pull requests on real repositories, and in Theo's eyes, that's not enough and should still be removed...
Seeing people be so disrespectful and rude to you makes me pretty damn sad. You're so kind and have good intentions towards others. I don't understand why people are so hateful. Stay strong, and I hope the kind comments you receive as well as the kind community that you have amassed keeps you going. Take care boyo.

As someone with severe mental health issues arguing, let alone engaging, with these types of people on the internet is so infuriating and it really upsets me. Yet I still use reddit and argue with idiots all the time and I hate it. I get the impression react content is similar I don't think you enjoy arguing about react content as I get the impression that whole era was very upsetting for you.
Just make sure that it doesnt get to you and upset you and know when to stop. I'm not gonna tell you not to because then I'd be a hypocrite because I cant stop and I don't know why because it kills me.

I used to be the same, it was like some sort of masochistic addiction. I'd more or less seek out people to argue with and then get really stressed out responding to them and would often end up deleting my accounts. My advice is just to think before you write a message online. The reality is that you're not going to change anyone's mind and you're just committing yourself to future stress for no reason. It's better to block said person and move on. I ended up deleting my Twitter and Reddit accounts which did the trick and I haven't regretted it for a second.
I turned out to have ADHD btw which may or may not be related but since getting treatment I've been much better about avoiding internet arguments. Maybe you're in the same situation?

I think I watched and liked this video twice already. In the future, I may turn off Member notifications. That way my view, watch time, and engagement all help you in the algorithm when the video releases publicly. If I watch a “first cut” Member's video, I tend to not watch the video in full when it releases publicly.
I imagine the algorithm takes this into account

@@emperorsascharoni9577I know the videos don't always get re-uploaded. But some videos get edited and re-uploaded after its original "Member Only” release. None of this is a big deal. And I'm obviously still gonna watch the vids. 👍
What's so crazy to me is that Theo understands that his video was not fair use. He says as much in his Tweet where he says "I never said the words "transparency" or "fair use"". In other words, he knows he is stealing the content but he still feels entitled to be able to use it because he paid them in "exposure". He also says "drama content is easy and free". Theo, the call is coming from inside the house.
