Nadeshot Is Wondering Why We Want Games To Fail - It's To Make Entertainment Better Again

  • Gaming and movies and entertainment in general has been decreasing in quality almost as rapidly as it has been increasing in quantity. From buggy releases and microtransactions to season passes in 70$ games and worst of all the woke agenda taking countless peoples beloved hobbies and ruining them. The industry is what we make of it, and it is long past time we force it to be better, irrespective of the cost.

"You need to reward them for making games"
We did, and where did that lead us to?
Higher cost, less ownership, more monetization, more cut content, less support, more bugs, ruination of beloved IPs.
Oh and let's not forget, absolutely no respect to the customer.

"You need to reward them for making games" is the Marxist "Labor theory of value" whereby the value of a product shall be estimated by how much time was spent making it. It's a human things to say but it's completely reality-averse. People people for a product, if they need it, not for the work that goes into it, especially if they don't need it.

the majority audience, the ones they demonize the most, ya know the straight white males or just males in general, but they pick on whity the most and they are the majority audience who play these games, these companies are only catering to the woke dipshits that are less than 1% of the gaming population.
and this is why when their game starts to fail they always go to blame the very same people they pissed off in the first place, it seems they haven't learned anything yet, i feel like they need to hit rock bottom to learn anything.
remember when Ubisoft said that gamers need to get comfortable with not owning their games and they decided to take a game off of steam that people payed full price for?

    "We don't make enough money!"
"Exactly. You've turned a passion into a paycheck."
Finally, someone said it. The rampant rising cost of making videogames IS NOT the customer's problem, especially considering that it is a SYMPTOM of the actual problem of bloat and poor allocation of funds in videogames. They aren't focusing on performance and optimization so games can run on lower spec builds, they aren't focusing on proofreading scripts to make sure that their stories actually land on delivery, no, they are focusing on hiring entire DEI departments and employing 15 different people for the same job when only 1 is actually doing the work. There are TOO MANY HANDS IN THE PUNCH BOWL and not enough to go around. This is why Indie Devs are seeing success; they remain small, create within their means, and generally avoid attaching themselves to a parasitic big name publisher. And we CANNOT fix the bloat by continuing to ENABLE it when we see it. We fix the bloat by refusing to refill the punch bowl AKA our money. Once the money dries up, they are forced to recede. The big companies responsible for ruining games are forced to withdraw and subside, even if just for a time. They are forced to either quit or analyze their mistakes and figure out what their competition is doing that is allowing Indie Devs to succeed.
We don't CARE that you aren't making enough money. We want you to make LESS. Because it's what you f***ing deserve for turning our hobby into your next big business venture. We wanted to get away from corporate influence and mainstream media by playing games and having fun. You have now FORCED corporate influence and mainstream media into our games and have put "Fun" second to "Profit". You deserve to fail.

Whenever someone says "The entire video game industry is dying! We need to save it, or we'll have nothing to play ever again!" its clear they only ever play "AAA" crap. Because this crash is really only affecting the top levels of the industry. Indie games are doing just fine. Thriving even. They're the little rodents that have been living in fear of the giant dinosaurs that dominated the ecosystem for so long. But, now that the ice age is upon us, the massive dinosaurs that refuse to adapt are starving to death, and those tricky little rodents are slowly taking over their world.
And sure, there are plenty of indie flops, too. But the scale is entirely different. When an indie game fails, it doesn't destroy multiple studios and end the careers of thousands of developers like it would at the "AAA" level.

Much like comic books, movies, and TV shows, video games lost sight of the most important person in this equation: The consumer.
Investors are important. But the consumer is the one that makes sure the investors get profits.
Programmers are important. But the consumer is the one that make sure they get new projects.
Producers, animators, concept artists, HR, accounting, chief whatever officers. If you are in a product producing company, none of you matter more then the customer. Period.

In fact the few times gamers tried to organize and boycott on purpose, it usually failed. Plus half the time the only argument is "you can't comment on a game unless you buy it".
Even companies use this line. Because at it's core that is all they care about, getting your money. Who cares if their game is absolutely hated and despised if people still bought it the company is happy. Sounds like a naive child off the rip. “Game studios aren’t going to green light any new games!!”
If he truly thinks that, he has no idea how the stock market or any business works. It’s all about cash flow and growth. Ubisoft, who’s about to have two flops (hopefully,) cannot just decide to not make any games. They’ll need to pivot and do better by laying off the wokies that made such awful games as to not sell even enough to break even.
They’ll need to downsize and focus on making a game that we will WANT to play or the top stockholders are going to lose A LOT of money and CEOs and board members could face heavy fines and maybe even jail time for not doing everything they can to protect people’s investment in their company.
They won’t get rid of their best talent that pointed out the flaws and said “this game isn’t what people want.” Instead those people will be promoted and looked to in order for the next game to be a hit. And if the game studio doesn’t do that, then it deserves to go bankrupt and be bought out for pennies on the dollar by somebody or company that will.
