  • Sometimes weak glutes are just weak glutes.
Other times, it's more complicated. Your posture and position influences how well your glutes can function. So does your foot/ankle strength.
In this video, see the connection between foot and ankle strength and glute strength for yourself.
You could do all the glute exercises you want, but in this case, it wouldn't have a strong effect UNTIL you strengthen the feet.
If you need help fixing the problem, drop me a line!

It is always the other way around. It’s the glute weakness that creates problems down the lower extremity joints and pain.

First point of contact and force comes through the foot and travels upwards through the kinetic chain…..your comment is logically incorrect

Me too. Dr said maybe tarsal tunnel. It is making it hard/weird walking. I was referred the other day to a podiatrist. I can't do a heel raise or walk on heel on the affected foot. Its stressful.

This just changed my entire dance career!
I've always struggled with engaging my glutes while keeping my leg in the air, but it's because my feet are rolling inwards. Thanks so much. I will work on this :)

this… this can genuinely separate you from being a pro athlete or not being one. assuming you have the right mentality. this is genuinely the secret to true athleticism

i’m 21 now and i played football at a very high level. and trained my nephew from when he was 5 up to 10 or 11. he became really quick and good. but one thing in particular i realised is because we played a lot bare foot. his feet became incredibly strong. he went in to play for chelsea fulham and some other clubs. this is genuinely the key that alot of players don’t know about

My right foot is more flat than my left. Can this be fixed

Thanks! Could it also be that tight glutes are causing you to claw the toes to search for stability?

Interesting thought. I usually think about this being a problem that starts with the feet and then causes a problem upstream. I'll have to think about this more.
