- Sue is worn out by all the adventuring and has become exhausted and the Doctor Alma reccommends that she goes back to her home town so Justin says that they will use the one and only teleportation orb to send her back to Parm.

The symbolism of Sue going home to childhood, a place that Justin can no longer reach, evokes such a feeling of homesickness, like he is saying goodbye to his own youth. As a kid, I don't remember this scene, but playing again as an adult, it is so poignant.
This scene always gets me. Back when I was a kid, and still now as a 30 year old man, every dang time.
It's easy to forget that, despite her demeanor and abilities...Sue is still just a kid. The part where Feena tells her it's okay to cry always gets me.
the moment you hear that bagpipe you just gotta burst into tears.
"your spirit will always be with us"
what a cheerful sweet game this is.
This is one of my favorite pivotal moments in Grandia for me. Sue started with Justin in his journey but she can't see it to the end with him. When you think about it in a deeper meaning. Sue represents the childhood that Justin is letting go of. He started the journey as a boy and never truly considered what it meant until he met Feena. So in a way Sue leaving is like Justin beginning to take his steps into the reality of what an adventure truly is by continuing the journey with Feena. I always cry during this scene because Sue is also realizing she's not ready to go on a truly serious journey. In her own way she accepts she has limitations now and knows that one day she and Justin will journey together again when she finally catches up to him.
Wonderfully worded!! I was crying so hard at this part! Sue was literally too young and weak to continue on with the adventure and had to go back home. It was very well placed in the story and wrapped up the first arc of the story so bittersweetly.
Always had me crying as well. Even seeing this video :') It was around 16 years ago that I played this game. Seeing this scene really throws me back to my childhood and makes this scene even heart breaking :
This game and Suikoden 2 are the only games that actually made me tears
I know you made this comment many years ago, but I recently played this game again after 20 years and you hit the nail on the head with this great insight. I was trying to articulate what it was, but you totally got it! It's such a well crafted symbolism, really speaks to me.
That better explains why she is always two levels behind Justin
im speechless. no game has ever drawn out my emotions like this game has.
i'll never forget about this game
I really missed Sue and Puffy for the rest of the game, I liked Sue's personality and the cute "puff puff!" that Puffy used to say after battle...
Rapp was also a very fun character but I still wished I could have Sue back.
Where boys cried: Aeris death
Where men cried: Sue leaving to parm
It's both for me
A scene likes this proves that you don't HAVE to be sad when losing a character... that they don't HAVE to die to no longer be able to use them in the game.
Well this was pretty sad, but I agree that the sadness didn't come from death, it came from saying goodbye to a dear friend, which all of us can relate to.
Grandia truly deserves to be at the same league as the chrono games,ff 6/7/9 and xenogears
Don’t forget Suikoden 2!
I’ll even throw in Skies of Arcadia for good measure
Grandia is so much better than Final Fantasy
I cried so hard at this point, it's my favorite game of all time. Maybe one day we'll have a beautiful utopia like the Icarians. 🙌
So many years later and still, tears just flow....damn, true magic :)
Sue,it's painful to say goodbye.. this is great story..best grandia's story ever
A real tear jerker, can't believe it's been more than 15 years since I played this game.
Kikunosuke777
me too one unique thing i noticed about this game is when new characters from in, some of them are temporary.
I think Sue and Gadwin both leave around the same time right? Then had that girl and ninja u meet up with, then they leave also.
I kinda wish Grandia had made an actual part 2 of Grandia, showing Sue and Justin in there Adult form.
So, 23 years from this day?
Manly tears were shed.
this part is so sad seeing sue leave whit the sad music
for me as a boy, this game and this moment in it were mindblowing. It still is
Goddammit I can't help but cry at this part it's just so beautiful. They don't make rpgs like this anymore. 😭😭😭
This was the saddest moment
Man, I still haven't been able to watch this scene without sheding at least one tear.
I still have a hard time not letting my tears go on this part because during the game you see sue growing up form little girl to a big girl whit strong will power and well her strong feelings, this part just gets me so badly ....
This scene should go down in jrpg history.
one of the most emotional moments of any game ive played
This part made my heart melt ='(... Justin and Sue where such strong companions who fought bravely together so well.. But i think it was for the better Sue go back home, she was still a very young little girl and the situations where becoming much more dangerous than before and far more life threatening since there was much more powerful foes up ahead. But still sad Sue had to go, cause you spend almost half of the game with her.
this game was so perfect in all facetts. it even allowed a truly emotional story all along
This game is so epic, when you get to this bit you actually feel homesick when you hear the parm music and see the town lol. Only game I've ever played that evokes emotion from the view point of the characters
I had to hold back a tear, why couldn't Sue stay!? After all they faced together she could handle the rest of the adventure, at least that's what I keep telling myself :(
This game had more heart and charm than any other game I've ever played. Not only that, it made me see life from a bright perspective and smile more. Yes, truley this game meant a lot for my childhood.
This scene really broke my heart ;((
They just don't make video games like this anymore.
They do. Try Falcom's Trails of series.
omg i watched this for the first time in about 5years and it moved me to tears again! i still havent completed this awsome game after 8 years lol. i will fulfill my duty to sue and get to alent as soon as i can. :) ty
OMG!!! I cried at this part!!
I love this scene, heck the whole game actually! Justin is one cool JRPG protagonist! At times's he's a goofball, while other times he's sweet and kind, and other times he's mature and serious. None of this stupid emo stuff you see in most JRPG hero's *coughs* Tales series* coughs* now-a-days. :p I love how he was torn at not continuing his adventure with his best friend Sue. It's even a bit sad when Gadwin leaves, I love how this series does that with their characters. ^^
Cara que cena linda , me lembro de ter chorado nessa parte , um dos melhores RPG's que eu joguei no Playstation !!!
damn ninjas cutting onions
Aww...that part! That's so sad T-T
Thank you for posting ^^
thanks buddy for posting this

You're Right! Granda is a REALY great Game! ^^ And it's good, that there are some "Nice" and some "sad" Moments in it. ^-^
There had to be a way to make Sue stay in the group, I wouldn't have cared if she just stopped fighting but remained in the group for the events of the story but without getting in any fight, heck, Grandia lost so much of his charm when Sue left.
Anddd no, I didn't cried when Sue left.
I swear.
I didn't
.....
I mean, at least she returns in Parallel Trippers and Digital Museum.
BEATIFUL Scene, i love it !!!!!!
This moment right here, the one where Justin has dinner with his mom the last time and shortly later reads her letter in the harbour, are among the few two gaming moments that seriously jerked tears outta me... Too emo. :<
Manly tears... Very.
Mother 3 is the only other game capable of doing that to me. Alot of other RPGs fail to make you care about any of the characters, and you end up thinking: "Yeah right, cutscene - just die already and let me check out the new sword I got from the boss!".
Every time I played this game I cant help but cry at this part :*( its so sad
My eyes teared up so much during this scene. I remember being SO SAD that Sue had to leave. :((((((
Sweet! One of my favorite scenes, the others being (sorted after how much I enjoy them):
1. Everything between Feena's departure and entering
"Spirit Sanctuary"
2. Leen's last words.
3. Mullen's realisation.
4. This scene.
5. Mirror of the Moon or Mirror of the Stars?
6. Justins speech to himself before leaving Parm.
7. Ending and Epilogue
8. Leen returns the Spirit Stone to Justin after
Twin Towers.
grandia... a master work
This is one scene that should have been voiced. Great scene
But the voice acting in that game wasn't the best ... It would've probably butchered this scene
@@Faceless_time_traveler ah it wasn't bad either. I found some of the voice acted scenes some of the best in the game
I CRIED TOOOOO!!!
omg....this is sooo greaat
I love this game, brings back fond memories, as a matter a fact it is also a milestone for me for this is the first game I beat without a gameshark and boy was it hard.
holy shit! whole of epicness!!!!
u dont play grandia ull never feel tat greatness!
well this is enough for me to play the game again!
Can we have a sequel about sue's adventure?
YESSSSS i hope game arts really do that because SUE IS my mood to play grandia we need sue adventure in grandia 4
I actually gave her a Mana Egg as a souvenir ... I guess I just lost track of how invested I was in the game
I just realised i never got as far in this game as i thought i did. I really want to replay it now
Amen!
dat bgm truly hits the spot...since sue collapse and have to rest in dight it keeps haunting me lol
and thinking how sue goes back to parm with heightened abilities, magic like howlnado is nothing to laugh at >.
@Kinsmar i know this sound weird but i think this is the ps version and whats the different between psx and saturn i only have the psx one and i love this game
Grandia..... I love Grandia. Grandia IS THE BEST GAME EVER MADE!!
I cried......
NOOOOO! SUEEEEEEE ;_;
@DygitalNinja Both scenes made me cry as a kid, XD it was like losing a friend and seeing your home just appear infront of you after such a long journey, which ain't even over yet. Far from it. It's tempting and it made me think. Would I go home, I would just say hi but, the adventure would be over . . . kinda thing.
Wasting my tear......because I meet sue again just after finishing several main quest......
i cried too
Yes, they were.
*laugh* I have nothing to add ^^
For me this moment was far more emotional than when Aeris died in FF7. (don't flame me too bad, I liked that game too) The characters in that game felt like they were sneaking off to cut eachother every other scene, but this game contained some happiness, so losing a character I liked like this was just as hard for me as it was for the characters.
Yes! I agree! They are all good Parts! (Well, the whole Game is good! ^^)
@Luxai She might have leveled slowly; in fact she is usually 3 or 4 levels behind Justin even at this point. But that didn't seem to hurt in battle. You can compensate by leveling up her bow and her earth magic (+STR). I save the seeds for Feena because frankly there's just not much other help for her. I will eventually get around to uploading some videos of this game, with Sue at her best. I think that even underleveled she would have no trouble holding her own even late in the game.
...This, the true ending of Crono Cross, and Aerith's death back in FF7... I believe those made me into the gamer who's obsessed with RPGs I am today.
I have to agree with DygitaNinja's post though-- It'd be a lie to say this part didn't rub off on me in a way I wasn't used to in media before. It was fantastic.
Many zelda easter eggs in this game all the way from treasure hunt to the dungeons. Sue found the apron. They found the helmet and shield outside. Sword found inside the chest
@DygitalNinja yes, it makes me cry
that´s so sad...
i wish sue was still in my party damnit she was the second strongest
I wish this scene was voiced
this is such an underrated gem... my 2nd favorite rpg all time (behind ff3... sorry, but the locke-celes-rachel plotline is my favorite)
Question is how can Sue back again to Zil Padon with the other member? There is no way she through all the way that wall again.
i wish i could give them a hug........ಠ_ಠ too bad its a game......damn it!....
goodbye sue o_p
This game is so old-fashioned compared to what's coming out now, but I want so badly to keep this era from being forgotten, so I will probably keep putting it in my top 10 no matter how my tastes and preferences change. They save the most heartbreaking portrait of Sue for a single piece of dialogue at the end... Game Arts was truly one of a kind.
Why DID sue have to go home ..?
I knew she was tired ... but .. why? x
This game... No all games from the 1990 and beginning of 2000.. they were all Great.!!! so.. why is it that all now a day's games only focus on graphic this and big flash here.... it's rare to have ... to see a game with good music and story... *Sigh*
i love this game and i hope to see a second story.. but with same gameplay and style :)
i dont remember this scene. is this after they cross the End of the World? i thought if i remember correctly i batled Gaia with Sue too.
Ferdy Hoshigaki Tube Yes, it's after crossing the End of the World, but before any battles with Gaia.
Too bad she had to go at this point. A lot of walkthroughs will say she is a weak character. But I can assure you she is every bit as lethal as Justin if you train her the way you do the other two. It is actually Feena that seems to be a continual weak link throughout the game. Even when I replay this game I still go ahead and use Sue as I do Justin and Feena because her magic and combo potential is there.
But yeah. It was sad to see her go.
@nickthestick26 She did lvl slower than the rest tho, except Gadwin. If you had kept her she would be underlvld endgame.
@BrokenClayman You're exaggerating, sure the Saturn version is better but the PSX version was far from horrible.
Who thinks the 1st sad song sounds like ys 8 main theme?
@Teoskaven Part of the main theme. LGiNEaNxOxo#t=2m15s
make grandia 4 sue main char as adult :3
i dunno why this part is not dubbed…
A melhor cena do Jogo e a Mais Triste, depois disso o Jogo se torna Ruim com uma História Preguiçosa e muda completamente o Foco pra algo forçado.
The most charming game i ever played. The only game i played since that can compare to this game charm is okami.
Also the grandia battle system is the greatest battle system of any RPG.
1:21
2:20
I hated this, especially when she is replaced with a less appealing character.
Im crying so much here 🩷 what a powerful scene 🩷
Greetings Grandia fans, I have news. If you're interested in hearing from the original voice cast? The voice of FEENA & LILLY (Angela Anderson) is doing a live interview on Twitch March 27th!
