I use race glaze polish and a good quality orbital buffer...shines like new and the shine doesnt fade. None of the wipe on stuff lasts...in a day it looks like it did before you did it.
I 'm doing a bare frane restore on my 1986 moto 4 225. My plastics are not broken but they look like that .my frame racks front bumper and rear bumper are blasted and painted the rear bumper has been powered coated chrome l will try some of these trix but probably finish with the buffer
I tried that method it was awful makes the bike all greasy and smells bad and within a month its faded worst than before… so ima give the torch method a try than slap some uv protection clear coat over top of it
This works really well and it’s not hard to do but it will be back to faded white in very short order. It would be nice if there was something put on there to protect it. Are you aware of anything?
@@HillendaleBros That’s odd. I’ve done three of them and all three of them faded back pretty quickly. They do get ridden a lot so they see a lot of sun.
Do not do this people. Heat is not necessary and you risk permanent damage to the plastic. Use a buffer and a nice plastic compound and you will get a better result.
Lol it's not going to hurt it if you just take your time and don't burn it, it doesn't "damage" plastic, it's actually pretty good for it, plastic is made by heating it.
If you have a buffing wheel I recommend using it instead of a heat gun because the heat gun makes the plastics brittle after a while both work though
When using a buffing wheel what kind of pad and buffing compound should I use? Thanks
Small torch works 5 times faster! Nice job!
Dang! Looks awesome 👌
Yeah bro it turned out nice thanks for the info. I wanna do my lid to my ice chest.
very helpful video, Thanks
Cerakote Works awesome for Plastics

Tire shine helps to
Will it catch fire if I’m riding out in the sun?
Brake fluid works great!
Is the material HDPE?
Another video showing 60% paint thinner and 40 % boiled linseed oil . Looked like it worked
I just found that method. Looks like it works pretty good. They don't recommend the heat method.

Propane torch is much faster incidentally

The ones have done have not faded back. Going on 3 years, guess I’m lucky

@@markmanning6773 yeah that could be, mine stay covered pretty often
Cerakote has a really good plastic restorer.

it doesn’t mess up the fibres heating it?
Did not for me. And I’ve done on about 5 or so ATVs
@@HillendaleBros ok thank you
A pressure washer works great for getting the white layer off.
Barely any comments???
do u think i could use a hair dryer cause my dad doesn’t have a heat gun
Yeah probably, will just take a bit longer to warm up
Is your dad going to be going out with wet hair though?
can this type of plastic be welded?
Yes I use zip ties to weld it back together with a soldering iron
Yes
You can also notch it, JB weld it and then sand it. It's work but it ain't coming apart afterwards.
Does this actually work I started doing it and it looked like it just scrapped it up even more
Use sand paper, it’s your best bet, go from low grit to high grit until it’s shiny
Looks hella scratched up lol
No
i have a secret, that makes the atv plastics, or any other molded plastic look new. Its to good to share. ill sell my secret for $10 a pop.
Do you have Venmo? I need to know.
