I thought it was good for what it was-it was really the best way to make Twilight a princess in 1 episode.
Friendshipismagic exactly but amy keating rogers wrote filli vanilli and....bleh -_- she is still not forgiven for pinkie's part in that episode and never will be forgiven!!

I can totally relate to Moondancer. It brought a lot of things home to me about my youth. I was nearly in tears a few times because I understand Moondancer's sense of alienation and being let down by someone she was becoming friends with. But seriously... I loved this episode so much!

As soon as I realized that this episode was tying back to the first episode of the first season, I was like "Yup, best episode of season 4." M.A. Larson you never disappoint

KP, I really love that you noticed and took advantage of referencing Background Pony in regards to this episode. When I saw that Lyra was one of Twilight's friends, then she DIDN'T SHOW UP IN THE EPISODE, I about lost my my mind. I can't believe that happened and it wasn't a small poke at Background Pony.
***** Well, _Background Pony_ is awesome, and is pretty popular, but I don't think it's quite _that_ popular. Most of the show's references to the brony fandom are much more generalized (such as Derpy and muffins) rather than referencing a specific fan work. If Lyra was ubiquitously portrayed in the fandom as a forgettable, hoodie-sporting philosopher, maybe we'd see her wearing a hoodie in a winter episode. Then again, considering how hard _Background Pony_ Lyra was doomed by canon a couple episodes ago, I think a reference to it is about as likely as Nyx showing up for a cameo.

Why I hated it: WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LET INTROVERTS BE INTROVERTS.
Why I loved it: I physically cried, this is my favorite episode. Disregard the first line of this comment whilst taking it into account.

This episode hit a lot of us right the feels on a deeply personal level. Dat social failure and rejection. We've all felt it at some point.
You know, I never actually noticed how competent Spike was in this episode, but he was. Except for the part where he said to look at the wall of FIVE pictures saying that none of them were of her old friends in Canterlot. Uh... you know that the library BLEW UP, right? There wasn't exactly a bunch from Ponyville either. But aside from that, yeah, Spike actually fit in and worked with the episode.
All of these jokes were really great! I also really liked the episode, it felt so real and relatable...
Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer...Silver Spinner? Shilight Summer?
This episode was what I always wanted ever since the first episode. I can't be happier.
As far as this season is concerned, so far at least, this episode felt the most, dare I say it? Human. While I'll always love the big, grandiose battles and epic finales, it is the more subdued and realistic episodes like this one that really make me love this show. As far as your review is concerned KP, another awesome job as always.

This is so far my favourite episode this season, as well as one of my favourite episodes I've seen. Like Top 10 good. Heck, even Top 5!
I could actually relate to Twilight in this situation, since I wasn't the most reliable friend in the past, and had I learned what I know now, I probably would have been a better person and a better friend. And Moondancer had not only a very sympathetic and relatable situation, but her story was very tragic too. Giving up on her relationship with others because she felt abandoned by the one person she felt she could truly connect to. Really fantastically written and emotional episode.

The episode airing this Saturday will sadly be the last one we get for a LONG time. Hasbro is going all HBO on us and airing the first half of season 5 now and the rest near the end of 2015. God help us all :(

I like how Moon Dancer adorned the Black Sweater of Death after Twilight henceforth and abruptly ended their once strong scientific friendship, but I agree with you that this was easily one of the best, if not the best, episode in Season 5.

Brony Alpha Well if you think about it it's a good deadline to give yourself since 1. it gives people an opportunity to have seen the episode over the week 2. more time = more work or it should but that's not the case with anything in my high school career 3. it's close to the new episode so people are exited about horses.

This is one of the best episodes of the season and definitely something I could relate to since I've had something very similar happen to me. This is what I love about this show. It has lessons and other problems that all ages can relate to.

This was an awesome episode! Only thing that I was thinking through most of it though... She never said that it was Twilight's fault. She could've just decided "eh friendship's not for me." And Twilight just HAPPENED to guess that it was her fault. I kept thinking that in the end it would be an episode about how it's okay to just have one friend, and Twilight and her would just share books every so often and be pen pals. *shrug*
Even if it wasn't this episode, I honk that MLP needs more episodes where not having a lot of friends is okay too. They touched on it a bit with the mule couple but idk
