Wow. I did not expect DLP to act upon complaints about the music. Fantastic news. Good to see the original music back in both the ballroom and the seance scene.
There is still some work to do though. The organ sound is still missing from the ballroom and garden scene, and they still need to return the orchestral soundtrack between the endless corridor and the seance scene.

@@jacoaster I cannot seem to get used to the Wedding March and the original Haunted Mansion ghoul sounds in the corridor. It just feels wrong in the context of Phantom Manor, breaking the continuity of the orchestral score.

yes, if the us parks/ imagineers listened to me, they'd restore liberty square's HM changing portraits back to their former glory without the new led backlighting, black drapes, and dumb camera flash. They'd also need to fix the stretching room's lightning because sometimes it doesn't flash at the right time, and in general doesn't flash long enough to see it good.

I'm happy on the outside that the ride Phantom Manor is finally reopened after a long one year refurbishment. But sadly on the inside, I really do miss having Jay Meyer's face on Ned Nub's bust and Verne Rowe's face on Rollo Rumkin's bust since after 2009. I know that Walt Disney Imagineering decided to have Jay Meyer as Rollo Rumkin and Verne Rowe as Ned Nub according to one of the promotional images of the singing busts from the Haunted Mansion franchise.
Thank god the original music has returned!

i am honestly astonished at how fast they put back the original score! maybe it was a fluke while opening and that's why it changed so quick but if DLP actually changed it back because of its fans makes it AMAZING!! as a DLR passholder, most changes are done and we can't do a thing about it, no matter the backlash so i am SO happy for all the phantom manor fans. the score of this attraction is absolutely outstanding and i am SOOOOOOOOOO glad they brought it back!!
I think it was the fact that many people complained during the soft opening, when small but very crucial changes could still be made. The old audio really makes me view this refurb in a much more positive light 😁
DLR won't listen to fans, they get their money no matter what. DLP needs to appease fans, because it's never been a strong park. In profits, obviously it's strong in theme. DLP's best fortunes have happened when appeasing the public.
The Notorious BTG Yup. Of course, there will always be tourists who won't care about such things as the Phantom Manor soundtrack. DLP doesn't have the strong local fan bases that the US parks have, so annoying the fans who visit frequently is not a good idea 😬
Changing a soundtrack is pretty easy. If fans demanded that the Phantom Canyon sequence were entirely changed back, they'd be in for a rude awakening.
I am so glad this ride has finally re-opened!!!! I am going in June and I am so so sooooooooooo excited to finally ride this!!!!

This refurb was SO needed and the ride story is so much more clear and cohesive now. The old stretch room portraits were embarrassingly bad. And now Melanie looks like an actual character. I LOVE that they put her in the staircase window. And the phantom's identity is no longer a mystery...which it didn't need to be. The corridor of doors is much spookier now, and the phantom figure at the end is, um, terrifying. Yay. THIS is how you upgrade an attraction.

I just want skeleton Melanie back and her corny “Will you marry me?” and evil laugh taken away. She’s supposed to be a tragic victim and that line undoes the entire ride and makes her sound villainous.
@HauntFreak13 Actually yeah I agree with you. Her cheezy lines at the end make it seem like she was in on the whole thing. Good point.

I have to agree with everybody else. Phantom Manor was not the same without the original soundtrack. Although there seems to be some compromises. In the ballroom to seeing you can hear the chattering of the guests and the clinking of glasses. That's the traditional sound effect in the ballroom scene in The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. But it works.

Great to see its back again
Ok, this video, along with the fact they put the old music back in, really now makes me like the look of the new Phantom Manor. All they could do would be to put Melanie back in at the start and I'd be one happy camper. I don't even mind the Constance-y part at the end, since they never say she started murdering anyone, just that she's justifiably gotten a little desperate for *someone* to love her.
She's gone insane and her thoughts a little dark. This makes sense when she lived in that house for god knows how long.

Not a big deal for me
I actually like the scene better without the music, even though the original track was one of my favorites in the score. The scene’s just so much more chilling with the howling wind, I got goosebumps the first time I saw it
I think this is a great improvement... the ride before was a bit disjointed and the story didn't really come through, but in this you really get the sense you're in a sweeping epic that has it's own distinct identity, rather than a clone with a few different elements. Also the second half of the ride really feels a lot more cohesive with the first half.

Tbh... I still mind the change of the Piano Parlor music, and the removal of main theme in the hall with the doors and instead having HM SFX. But it nearly isn’t that big of a deal to me
Nigel Lievaart I think changing the piano music back to the old one isn’t as easy, because the piano key movements and the shadow of the Phantom have been programmed to be in sync with the music.
msRavenswood yeah that’s exactly what I thought too.. but hey I’m just a nitpicky Phantom Manor fanboy 🤣, but I can live with new Piano part, the flow of the soundtrack is a bit broken up now... instead of good flow from the hallway all the way up the seance. But it’s fine 👌🏻

Okay can the Haunted Mansion in DL get this treatment cuz the lighting design everything in this attraction is absolutely spectacular and I would love to see it come to California
I doubt they could do an entire refurbishment like this, but maybe throw in more appearances of Hatbox Ghost and Constance for a creepy wedding theme.
Its wonderful they put back the original ballroom music, but why now does not hear the organ when we approaches to it? It wasn't only the music, there was organ too

The lighting effects are really great now. The Foyer now has a more perceptible illusion instead of just a tiny mirror - the wallpaper repairing itself and the portrait changing to color. The lighting shifts in the stretching room with the bride vanishing from the portraits are really cool, and the purple flash of room light during the lightning is neat (I wish they'd have added the creaking and groaning of the room stretching like in Florida - that was subtle and very cool and atmospheric). The load area also looks great, but I hope they don't cut the fan that billows the Bride's veil - that looked really beautiful in other videos I've seen.

Kinda an annoying request, but this channel clearly has the best camera and editing skills, so could you guys maybe make some sort of full experience video with the exterior as well? (And PLEASE get the moving bust that you missed in these last few videos. Haha.) There's just not a lot of good quality comprehensive videos of this out there. The ones that are comprehensive are too dark, and the ones that are not too dark are not very comprehensive!

Not sure if it was intentional or not, but Melanie's dad/the Phantom kinda looks like Liam Neeson.

I guess it was something they were trying. I kind of liked the contrasting audio shift of the original US foyer music (the theme on quiet bells and flute-like whistling wind) in the seance room as a lull between the hallway (which was *really* noisy before they changed it) and the cacophonous US ballroom audio with the organ. Now the whole hallway-seance ballroom is quiet and eerie and builds slowly before the raucous grave descent and canyon.
You missed the moving bust! This was close to being the best video of this ride but that’s one of the best effects. 😪 That’s one of the original effects from the Haunted Mansion and has a very interesting history of being invented by Disney Imagineers on accident. You should take this down and add that in before you get more views.
It doesn’t really add to Phantom Manor’s story though.

MrTheoLater 🤷♂️ The story is that they came up with it while working on the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln attraction at Disneyland. They had a mold for the animatronic’s face and it was sitting on one of the Imagineers’ desks and when they walked past it, they realized it looked like his eyes were following them. Maybe someone else actually invented it, but that’s just the story that has been told.

I don't think people were understanding why the phantom was changing back into a rotting corpse before (I still don't understand why he did other than it being gross and evil and stuff). They might not even have known he was supposed to be the phantom. Having the father's portrait change into the skeletal phantom in the changing portrait gallery and stay that way for the rest of the ride keeps consistency.
