    Here I am in the gym just trying to get my miles in at 8.5mph....but then of course you couldn't just crank your dreadmill up to 8.6mph, but totally showed me up by starting to go a full 9.0mph 🤣!

      Hi Sage, Nice to see you're making new friends quite fast in your new town.

    This was fantastic. I'm impressed that you were able to do a video this long about treadmill workouts.
    Whenever the treadmill and my coros give different reads, I assume that whichever had me going faster was correct. Even if it's the same watch/treadmill every time.

    Even before I got more into running I’d always eye the people next to me on the ‘mill and try and make my speed sliiiiightly higher, hahaha. Also the elevation maps on those revel races are insane!

    you missed an opportunity... you should have took a picture of Sage's workout once he had gone and uploaded it it Strava as your own

  • @Martha-fluterunner

    Even better than Revel races: Tunnel Marathons, since most Revels start at much higher elevation and are much steeper. 😂 from she who BQ'd on a Tunnel Marathon. Fortunately I BQ'd again in Boston so I’ve saved face. Loved this video. I too photograph my treadmill monitor for Strava, with my shoes on the iPad shelf. You nailed it again, Stephen

    • @TheSeriousRunner
      @TheSeriousRunner  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, the Tunnel Marathons doesn't look like it'd be quite as brutal on your legs... this is why we need a downhill treadmill, to practice for the races that give you every advantage imaginable.
      Thanks for watching!

    If you record your treadmill run on your watch and uploading it to Strava, just swing your arms violently and quickly to record a flattering pace. Followers will be impressed. Lol.

    Treadmills stood the test of time for a reason and they are necessary if the weather is too cold or too hot outside and you can get a solid session in without much worry.

    I do all of my training on the treadmill except for long runs. I do so because I want people at the attractive gym goers to see how fast I can go for an entire 8-mile run. There, I said it.

  • @nomaderic
    @nomaderic 3 года назад +2

    The only reason i run on the treadmill at the gym is because I lift before and since I'm already there it's super convenient. Even though I'm nowhere near an elite runner, I still notice I run longer and faster than basically everyone at the commercial gym and I sometimes feel like people look at me like "look at this guy trying to flex" when im nowhere remotely trying to do that, im actually hoping no one notices me lol. One thing I always notice is guys will see me running and set a speed way faster than I am going and I watch them all eventually have to stop while I'm just cruising along lol

  • @Anthony-yd2we
    @Anthony-yd2we 3 года назад +1

    The rattling treadmill at my gym only goes up to 15% incline and doesn’t even calculate elevation so I can post the photo to my strava. Unfortunately, that’s incline any hobby jogger can do. A serious runner needs their treadmill to at least reach 20% incline.

    should have had the running competitor come into the gym again because he forgot something, and then you jumping to 16mph and making sure he didn't see your breakdown. Tips from a serial irony monster. Also, love your stuff. Give me more.

    Get comic relief about the "mill'".
    Personally,running twice a day all the time, I routinely do my am running in grass ( 12k)& pm on the treadmill @ a good pace( 8k)
    I've won a ton of of 5& 10k races doing this( 84 miles per week).
    I consider my 4:48 per mile, 20% up,5% down mill, my secret weapon.
    Doing 4 mile UPHILL tempo runs or 4-5 mile repeats.....ect. Most elites use it( Farah,Gebersallasie, Ingebrigtsen, Bekele ect...)
    Dude....it works.......if you work it.
    ( just saying.....)

    I'm going to go ask Sage if you actually wear that gear out on normal runs. For some reason that tickles my funny bone. And how are you running in those pleb shoes on the treadmill, definitely not as serious as I thought you were. How can you even run without a plate? Next video, all of the people that got into Boston with no cutoff times are actually frauds! That ending was hilarious.
