Everyone some been sharing some pretty amazing tips. I think we'll need a part 2. Thanks for watching and for commenting! Both me and the algorithm truly appreciate it.
Ur not gonna hold it against me considering i just bought a Boston marathon jacket off ebay without ever been to Boston. Now i just have to come up with a finishing time
Humble-bragging is a must. I have met some humble-braggers who are so good at it that - to civilians (non running athletes) - they seem to be genuinely suprised and delighted at their new personal-best(sic) and want to share it as a way to encourage others that with hard work it is possible to reach your running goals no matter how modest they might be. Yeah right! Real runners aren't taken in!
This is spot on and had me on the floor. Everything you shared is true. For part 2, include hiring a personal running coach, and joining a runclub. Is becoming a "serious runner" Expensive? YES!!! 😂🤣👏🏾👏🏾
And you will be injured at some point so familiarize yourself with human anatomy and medical terminology. When the physical therapist asks “what brings you in today?” You can answer “I’m having pain along the lateral aspect of my right foot, most notably at the base of my fifth metatarsal“. 🧐
….and spend most of your time following Running You Tubers for tips , gear reviews, experiences on races, and if it is on various languages or from different countries , that’s a plus! #epicness
Real GPS watch linked to Strave, check! No social life, check! Short-shorts, check! Spend lots of money, check! Rebranded social media accounts, check! Eating as fuel, check! Study running culture, check! I'm beginning to think that I'm a serious runner. Life is good!!!
"You can't put a price on epicness." "A serious runner." "No hobby jogger." Still waiting for your overprices merchandise running cloths with those mantras printed onto it! Would definitely buy it!
If you want to be a runner, don’t carry your phone in your hand. And for god’s sake, stop thinking, let alone saying, that 26 miles of run-walk is the same as 26 miles of running.
A few more tips. A serious runner: -is a proselytizer to all non-runners; -distinguishes herself from non-runners by wearing race shirts; and -looks down on all non-runners who wear Hoka or On running shoes for comfort.
But I'm already a runner, what I really need to know is how to be a serious runner so I can (humbly) look down on other runners as they look down on joggers
I guess I'm destined to forever be an ultra marathon hobby jogger... cuz my Hokas and second hand gear are taking me straight to the bakery where I'll wolf down 3 pastries on a REST DAY. Yeah, I said it!! 😆
What does a serious runner think of track athletes who only run mid distance and do not have a Marathon PR? And when will we see a serious runner running in the same race as Kipchoge?
Call the elites by their first name only. 🤣 as if we were close friends. So true. On a serious note, many fast runners think it gives them social status in real life.
This was one the the best; certainly the most concise summary of your Serious Runner ethos! I’m guilty as charged on almost all counts. Do I need a lawyer? Martha
You should make one for trail runners. They have no idea who Eliud is, or anyone Kenyan. It’s WSER, HR and UTMB. “Serious” trail runners don’t talk about Leadville, nor about anything
Well, Sure you covered the most important stuff, but…how much should i run, and how fast? Should i run everything same Speed ? Should i look at my heartrate ? How about, stridelengh. How about recovery ? Will there be a second Part with this details? Regards Peter
In a future edition, I would like you to address the question of whether qualifying for any wave other than Red really constitutes a BQ. I mean, if you are finishing the race any time after 1pm aren't you basically just another Boston tourist, who probably ate pastries at Mike's the night before? I know this is intermediate material, but the beginners need to be exposed to these ideas earlier in their development.
Hey, I resent that! At age almost-71, my USATF age-graded Boston time last month is 2:45 & change but I’ll never be in the red-wave despite BQing on my first marathon and BQing again in both Bostons I’ve run. Now you can tell how Very Serious I am 🧐 😂
@@joelgriffitts1385 Obviously I was jokingly giving you a hard time. I started really late (58) and am glad I didn’t miss out entirely on something that had never remotely been on my radar the first half century of my life. I wish you longevity too. If you keep running reasonably fast you’ll be crushing your AG in races so at least there are some things to look forward to when those 5 yr increments tick by…..Martha
Run Boston 10+ years ago and wear your celebration jacket at EVERY race event afterward… others need to know you ran Boston even if your slow as shit now.

If you commute to work, wear your running gear and make sure everyone sees you. Asserting dominance on non-runners is mandatory for serious runners.
HA HA! ur killin me girl......ur killin me
This is golden. I've never felt so personally attacked
“Earn the right to wear the jacket.” 🤣. 30 marathons and 7 Bostons ago (humble brag), that’s truly what I obsessed about 😂. This list is spot-on!
It still amazes me how many obsess about the jacket and all about Boston. 🙀

I am up 4:30 AM hitting the pavement. This is a testimony of my dedication and hard work!😜
Lots of direct hits….and I’m strangely proud.

Nice to finally see a truly serious video as I found nothing “funny” about this. All truths. All realities. No fluff.
I very much appreciate this comment. This channel has only ever been meant for serious, educational content.
@@TheSeriousRunner Roflmao..... okay 👍 😂🙋🙏

I watch these videos and think the same with every single one....FML
Worth the wait you Serious Runner! ❤️You can’t put a price on epicness!
Started running 22 years ago rockin' a du-rag, basketball shorts, and air maxes 😅😂
this is so fuching true😅 and I have just ran 4 half marathons in a year
All very solid tips, glad you're changing up the content.

You're just spitting straight facts.
'Absolutely do not show up wearing basketball shorts''

Everything a *runner* needs to know in less than 5 minutes…
this is spot on....😀😀.Though I bought my Garmin two years after I started running.
So funny yet so true. 😂😂😂
Loved the sarcasm. Great editorial on the hypocrisy & absurdity of the mentality of the sport & it's members..... it's why I run at 3am by myself😂🙋🙏
sarcasm? this is an educational resource!

12 weeks no booze or lose!
I make my destination trip to Fargo ND for epicness AND optimal BQ conditions.

I only do a few of these things. Maybe I’m not the serious runner I thought I was.
Will this part of the curriculum be on the test?
Quiz on Friday 😂
But.. but I use Fitbit!!! 😅
Muito bom! Parabéns!

The shorter the better. Truly a philosophy to live one's life by.
Depends what we’re talking about 😂
Finally I know I'm not alone :)😀
Funny but true 👍
Cool 😂

You forgot " always wear spaceship antigravity shoes"

So to start running I need a second job?
4:13 Serious runner reads the right page, then left page, then right page again. Because, laps.
