I ended up in a similar situation with two guys attacking my bf on the ground. I was kicking them as much as I could but I know I missed 1-2 kicks and hit him instead. But it was me kicking that kept them from being able to punch him and eventually they had enough and stopped.

In Canada, I was told, " We can't keep them in jail forever." Also, our 'Life' term ends at 25 yrs. They can then start applying for parole.
I just read in our News that a live 'Horror Story' here in Vancouver, "Robert Pickton"😳, is able to start applying for day parole!! This is a real 'Oh My Gosh', you wouldn't think this would be able to ever happen!! It doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be granted it, but the victims & family's have to relive everything, to be heard as to why this shouldn't be allowed. They never are able to have peace and just live, loving life. 😔
I'm so sad for these true victims for what they have to go through their whole lives. It never stops for them 😥. Even when the Evil Soul goes to Prison. It's not right. Why can't they make a jail where life is Life!! The victims will then maybe, live a life with some peace.😔

One thing I feel that should be a class in high school is one teaching about relationships. The more awareness kids have about healthy and unhealthy relationships with their partners, the more they are able to recognise the signs of a toxic and abusive relationships so they can get out quickly and safely.
And it's not just relationships with a boyfriend/girlfriend that should be discussed, but relationships with family and friends, too. If I had known that what my stepfather was subjecting me and my mum and sisters to was a form of abuse, I would have gotten away sooner. I didn't even know that my stepdad was a narcissistic abuser who is emotionally, verbally, and financially abuser until a therapist through victim services told me so after I became an adult.

It definitely should have been attempted murder, but I'm shocked that he got a mandatory 29 years (up to 60 years) for the lesson charges. In the state of Washington a guy got 26 years for first-degree premeditated murder - in a plea deal with an iron clad case - and that her mother strongly opposed and WANTED to go to trial! (Kassandra's Secret on 48 Hours.) Talk about a miscarriage of justice!
It's astonishing how drastically sentences can vary from state to state, especially when plea deals are involved - and Washington DAs are afraid to go to trial in a lot of cases for some reason. It makes no sense.

My first husband, which not many people even know about bc I don’t mention him, was a control freak. We stayed married only six to nine months. Before we married he was great. After we married, and I mean right after, like our honeymoon he changed into the control freak monster he really was. He cheated, did drugs, slapped me around. It was insane. He did a complete one eighty after we married. I left one morning like I was going to work (which I worked at the same place his mother did) and went to my mother’s house, called my dad and went back over for my things. I had a restraining order and he still would call me! Finally after two years of total hell, he left me alone. He scared me. One time I went to his mother after he slapped me around hoping she would talk to him and take my side and she said to me “ well, you must have done something wrong for him to hit you.” And that is a direct quote. I couldn’t believe it! I feel lucky to have gotten out when I did. He threatened my life, pulled a weapon on me twice, and constantly talked down to me. I don’t get people like him. I’m glad this young lady got out with her life. But I fear like she does that it’s not over. Scary.

You sometimes don't know...I had a boyfriend back in my 20s. Visited his family, went on dates, stayed at each others homes and it was great. I started getting threatening calls, some disgusting stuff being done over the phone for about 4 months not knowing who it was. One evening I was at his parent's house with him, while his parent's were away, we were house sitting. He was acting weird. We tucked into bed for the night and that's when he tried to stranle me. I got free, grabbed my bag and RAN LIKE HELL out the front door. Hiding here and there till I got to a store and ran behind the counter telling the cashier to call a taxi for me. I called police once i got home and barricaded myself in my home. Police got him. Not all who get into these situations have red flags or abuse until the perpetrator seriously loses it. Oh, those creepy calls were actually him. Police discovered he was also stalking me while in a relationship with me. 30 years later, I still look over my shoulder. I hope the victim in this story can find peace someday. I unfortunately haven't.

One of the most ridiculous parts of these types of stories with these psycho dudes is that they dictate every bit of their girlfriend's lives and they're always terrified that their gf is going to cheat on them, but they are always the one who is cheating anyway. As a man I cannot stand anyone who puts their hands on women with the intent to do bodily harm. You don't love anything except yourself you psycho.. these are the types of guys-people I would love to get him locked in a room with me for 10 minutes of what will be pure hell for him now..Give him a taste of his own medicine.
Sophia was so strong for standing up in court and making him hear her piece. And she's super smart because well she shouldn't ever have to change her name and move out of state undetected.. The sad truth is these women usually always have to.
Also you could tell her brother still to this day just feels awful about hitting his sister with that bat. Even if he is the one that saved her. His head was down and he looked ashamed. And he definitely shouldn't be. Hopefully he knows he's a great brother and a true hero.

@@KatherineLaura6564what? Of course they want to be abusers. Otherwise, they wouldnt abuse anyone. They do the vile things they do, because they WANT their victim to hurt. They want to inflict pain because they believe the victim deserves it. They don't need help, because the help won't change them. It's their personality, that will never change.
Some people confuse true mental health conditions, with personality/character flaws. These arent cases of a simple lapse in judgement, where they are going through something and snap. Or a case where a person is truly not well mentally, dealing with a condition like schizophrenia. Or having a psychotic break. Which are all things that require and can have success, in helping a person through.
However, cases like what's described in the op comment, or in the video. These types of people don't need help, and no amount of help, will change them. These are the type of people who need to be kept away from society, or at the very least, have a close eye kept on them, keeping away from the vulnerable.
My English is not the best, so I may not be explaining things very well. I apologize for that. Basically, what I am trying to say, is that yes, there are cases where prison is not the answer, with mental health treatment being the better route. However. The majority of cases are not like this, with instead of it being a mental health concern. It's a character/personality issue, which can not be fixed. Ever. With prison being the better option.

In less than a year after I left, he had already killed my 2 cats I'd had for over a decade that I was about to be able to bring over with me into the country. Another year after that he murdered the lady who'd let him live in the addition on the side of her house. She told me once that the addition used to belong to her only child, a daughter she said was killed a couple years prior. Then she, herself, is killed a few years later by my accursed ex, and then he set the house on fire. If I hadn't gotten away, it would've been me.

Horrible parents that think their teens as young as they are should keep boyfriend/girlfriend relationships. Finish school first and then when grown and ready for marriage they can seek for life partner suitable for them through prayer. Today's parents are destroying our young teens pushing them out there in a vicious world when they are not ready for relationships.

There should be a class on healthy relationships. Not only abusive/bad relationships but how good relationships work too. So explain how the boyfriend is bad and how awesome the brother is. And why we need more relationships like the brother.

I'm so proud of her and her strength at such a young age. I wish that animal got life in prison honestly. But this just proves once again to me that kids have no business getting into romantic relationships and I hate that this has been so normalised now. There's already a risk when dating as adults because you never know if the person you're involved with might turn out to be a monster like this animal that attacked her. But how much more then kids who are at a vulnerable, mentally and emotionally unstable stage who are still figuring themselves out, don't know any better, don't know anything about spotting red flags and struggle with processing their emotions??! I really hope parents take more caution when it comes to their kids getting involved romantically with each other.

I don't know why you would continue to leave a door unlocked after the first time. I would have made sure to lock all doors, windows, get a security system and cameras. If I were attacked once in my bedroom I'd want someone to check my room every night. I'm glad she's okay.

This chilling narrative serves as a stark reminder of how quickly a seemingly innocent teenage romance can escalate into a life-threatening situation, underscoring the importance of awareness and education about healthy relationships among young people. It's crucial for communities, schools, and families to engage in open conversations about the signs of unhealthy relationships and provide the tools and support needed to navigate them safely.
