As a relative newbie to this way of booking, I would’ve really liked to have seen how you would’ve actually booked the flights you discussed using your Alaska miles with the partner airlines.
I have owned the Hwn Miles Barclays card for years and I just got the Alaska Airlines BOH Visa. When do you think they will close the Hwn Miles Barclays cards (if at all)?
Just bought 50k miles making it 100k. I have some redemptions in mind that I want to make in the next year with JAL and StarLux. Your video got me to buy some and ultimately making my stash at Alaska quite a big bigger just over 250k Alaska at this time. Thank you and excellent video
Sebby, I got a question… I don’t have the Hawaiian CC. Is it worth applying for it and buying (80k) $2k on miles? At the end including sign up bonus would be around 236k miles for about $2150 including the $99 annual fee. Thanks for your advice!
My usual is Turkish for United domestic and now Alaska for American domestic. Looking forward to booking something to Oktoberfest next year. Hopeful we get to fly the 747 first class!
Taking a year off work next year and traveling to New Zealand, Taiwan, Japan, Africa, Italy, and South America. Booked JAL business class back from Taiwan for 75k. I also use Alaska for a lot of short haul flights (ex. STL-DFW is only 4.5k). Been tirelessly searching for JAL first with no luck so far. Contemplating Starlux for 75k for PremEcon to try their product. Getting business class to ICN on Korean Air could be a good option for people too. Cathay Pacific would be an awesome redemption, but I've only found Economy with my searches thus far.
I'm based in HNL with a HA CC and there's a lot of reasons to take advantage of this. Question is when may it be better to keep the miles with HA. Second, is with all these folks buyng 2x points, isnt it likely that reward fares will be snatched up as soon as it is available?
@AskSebbyBusiness hello Sebbo, thanks for the reply. So Amex did not qualify my miles purchase toward SUB. So please share with others. Maybe I used business card for personal mile???
Good morning, Sebby. I'm a new subscriber 1st, and i would like to thank you for this information. 2nd, my question is, can I buy this Hawaiian miles and transfer them now for my Asia trip in May. We're going to travel around Asia for a few months.
The most you can buy is 100k miles. You will have 200k miles. If transferred to Alaska airlines, one way businesses ticket to the Middle East from NY is 150k on Quatar Airline. Only NY to Doha is business class. The 2nd leg is an economy class.
Hi Seb, is it a good strategy to apply for Hawaiian Airlines credit card and flat out buying miles worth $2000? It would give 236,000 miles costing 0.8c per mile which is a good value too. I have some international travel I want to plan but finding award availability is a task with Alaska. So have been thinking about this since couple of days haha.
Does any one have success with Alaska redemption on Cathay Pacific with layover? I have tired multiple times in the past two years and it never seemed to work (Alaska + Cathay or Cathay + Cathay) I was only looking for economy and I have found award availability in the separate lags before tying to book them as a multi city award
Need to get 4 West-Europe round trip flights for Oct-Dec 2025. Seems like there's no availability right now and probably gotta wait a couple of months, you think it's worth buying the miles?
Correct me if I’m wrong but when buying miles, cpp doesn’t apply. The value of your money is the points you get divided by the money you spent for it (200,000p/$2540) = 0.79 points per cent spent on it. If you compare this with the rent payment with Bilt/Alaska, you get 3x in Alaska points on rent payments but pay a 3% fee, which is 1.0 points per cent spent (in this case on the fees) which is a better deal than buying points this way. Am I thinking about this correctly?
I was looking at redemptions from JFK to anywhere in Asia business and best I could find was 250k miles?? Seems like a terrible redemption. Are partner airlines the same redemption for business?
Hey Sebby. I've had problems booking award flights on Alaskan airlines. Often times, I see a great deal from MIA or NYC to Europe on One World Partners. After going through the booking process, I will get a message saying that they can't confirm seats with their partner flights and my booking doesn't go through. I just looked at the "Flexible date" search option that I learned of from your video and it seems more accurate in terms of what is really available on a particular day compared to doing a single day search. Any thoughts on this problem? It can be very frustrating to find a great deal only to find out that it's a mirage!
I tried that once and was told that the web page was out of sink with the inventory American Airlines had given them for the flight I wanted. I suppose it's worth a shot to call anyway though. Thanks
Does this not work for economy seats on alaska to Japan from LAX? its 70k Miles and costs 889 dollars to buy those 70k miles. The flight itself costs 500-600 Dollars
🌴 question for you seb🌴 I have roughly 300k AA miles, located out of Charlotte NC. Trying to fly my family of four (kids ages 3 & 1) somewhere fun. I know this is a loaded question, but how would you best use these AA miles for travel? (We are pretty flexible on schedule too) Current status with AA (platinum pro) Also a Hyatt globalist Love your channel!
I saw this pop up, but this is your business channel. Is this not available for the average traveler who has The Alaska program? Or is it not worth it if you're just getting regular seats versus first class?
@@MishimaHaruka sorry, if my comment came off rude! He mentions it very briefly, so it was easy to miss. I’m often multi-tasking, while watching Sebby’s video, so I end up watching a lot of them a couple times. I’m sure Sebby appreciates the extra view count haha 😂
I picked up 200K miles today and used your referral link when I picked up the CSR as a thank you. I appreciate the content Sebby! Safe travels and clear skies!
I normally book with cash, coming from LAX or LGB. The best deals used to be (6 months ago) with Southwest, with Hawaiian Airline being competitive. Now, I see United and AA with cheaper fares. My rule of thumb for one-way fare is: great price (

Just bought 1M miles. Targeting a big family trip to Ireland with a stopover in London on BA. 🌴
Careful! BA's fees with Alaska can be atrocious, especially in J. I'd almost recommend just booking with Aer Lingus and skipping the stopover.
Oooh, I just spent a lot of my Alaska miles this year so I appreciate this "golden opportunity" to replenish at a decent deal. Thank you! 🌴
As a relative newbie to this way of booking, I would’ve really liked to have seen how you would’ve actually booked the flights you discussed using your Alaska miles with the partner airlines.
It would literally be clicking the "Next" button and check out flow on the Alaska Airlines website after finding a low fare...

🏝 hello Sebs. Question, does buying miles count towards SUB or rewards? Say buying a ton of miles to gain rewards??
Thanks
The spend counts towards SUB. You won't earn airline miles since the merchant is a third party.
@@AskSebbyBusiness what's a SUB?
@AskSebbyBusiness hello Sebbo, thanks for the reply. So Amex did not qualify my miles purchase toward SUB. So please share with others. Maybe I used business card for personal mile???
That's odd. It's not a cash equivalent, so I would call Amex and see what's going on there.

is it worth also transferring points to hawaiian if you travel west to europe several times per year?
Sure, if there's a product you want to fly.

A lot can change in 8 months 😬

Sure, but also consider how long it would take you to earn 80k points on the Bilt card vs buying miles with a 100% bonus.
Can you purchase hawaiian miles using CSR? Does it gives 3% cash back considering travel? or straight 1%?
Should be 1x since miles are sold through a third party merchant.

Try different dates. Usually ~75k-90k+ for business or first.

The usual pricing for LAX -> Tokyo economy is 35k points. Try looking at other dates. Wouldn't book it for 70k miles.
