I've had mumps for two weeks now. Despite taking medication, the swelling in my face and jaw continues to worsen. It's really causing me a lot of discomfort. 😭

I'd been contracted mumps 3 times when I was a child. First on the left side of my face, then right, then both sides. After that, it never happens again.
How quickly did you contract it on the other side? Like how much time in between infections?

It's worth mentioning, that amylase levels in blood are also often elevated - it's a cheap test to confirm mumps if clinical picture is not clear

So I am fine and healthy.

I've had a mumps vaccine and know one else in my school or anywhere was sick today I went to the doctor and he said I had mumps but I only have about 1 symptom which is the swollen gland. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY BODY!!!
I had Mumps as a child before vaccinations were given. I was lucky not to suffer extended problems, however, i can confirm it was horrendous to have. Please get your children vaccinated. My son had the MMR vaccine so he wouldnt have to suffer this very nasty disease.

Same way but you can't get orchitis and epididymitis if you don't have testes :)
You can get Oophritis, or swelling of the ovaries, but it rarely causes fertitility problems.

@astosic_s Put some ice in it to lessen pain and dont eat hard foods it will hurt even more. i also drink some meds to reduce pain and fever that time.
