This video saved my life! I had a crash while building a customer drone and the wires between the herelink uart and pixhawk were severed. I tried every combination that made sense to me but I'm about as well versed in uart code as rock so seeing which cable goes into which port between the two is a lifesaver!
Worth mentioning for new people the reason you connect antennas to any RF transmitter first is because high power without antennas to release it will overheat and possibly destroy the TX
I Just got my herelink system by the mail today, hoooaa ! Its awsome i will make some update tomorrow and see all the features ! Then I will connect it to my orange cube like you said in this video, and later i will had some lidar for proximity avoidance, if you can give me hints on lidars feel free to tell me 🙏

I changed GPS_type to UAVCAN and CAN-P1 and CAN_P2 driver to 1 and CAN_D1and CAN_D2 driver to 1 enabled Compass_external,ntf_led to UAVCAN.

Great video chap. I followed to the letter and everything worked as you said ....that is until I was configuring mode 2. For some reason, the thrust and associated joystick commands are reversed! Up is down, down is up etc....any thoughts chap? I put the same sbus cable in as you mentioned and I can connect, set buttons, calibrate etc just everything is reversed....

@@MadRC I am able to install all third party apps in my Tx just like installing them in android device. Install a SD card in Tx and connect it as USB device. Paste whatever APK you want in SD card download folder then you will be able to open those apk apps from DOWNLOAD app in Tx.
Question. How can I perform an esc calibration with the herelink. Am stuck not being able to calibrate my herelink joystick. The problem is that my quad keeps falling back on take off and am thinking it has to do with my esc calibration

Just received mine a couple days ago, thank you for this walkthrough. . . was able to get a video signal w/in 5 minutes. . . very straight forward connections. I was using a GoPro as the video source. Do you know any options available for a smaller, FPV style sized camera. Is there a CCD sized mini HDMI connection enabled camera out there besides the HD Action Sports cams? I've tried it with a RunCam Split 2, which has a mini HDMI port to connect it to it's WiFi Tx, this doesn't work. I was using the autodetect settings for the camera. Thanks for taking a look.
They should have provided an inbuilt power module device in order to made the Rx compatible with 2s -6s battery feed. In my case I don;t have any problem powering this device since I already have a power module on my quad.
Alsid Prime that would be great but I assume that in the event that the production unit comes with the spring loaded throttle it would be as easy as removing the spring from the stick gimbal.
Sadly I have been told no change is coming on the gimbals but I have not stripped it to see what’s possible to modify. I’m sure there will be options to do something.

When I 1st saw this I thought, "I could have a "Yuneec Typhoon H" Ground Station for my Video/Photo Drones". However when I saw the PRICE I was Extremely disappointed. This or the Yuneec Typhoon H instead? I'll get a Ready to Fly, HD set up for a about $200 additional cost with this very Ground Station. Seems this is a COPY of the Yuneec Ground Station, set to work with the pix. A family member has two Typhoons and it is very impressive $999.

I have a drone here , a tarot 960 with a eagle eye gimbal and nikon d5300 which has a naza- mv 2 on it but I not satisfy of it’s performance so after watching your video about the orange cube and the herelink system i was just blown away by it’s features and performance so I bought the orange cube and the herelink system but I would like to put 2 gps/compass on it for more accuracy but which one , should I buy 2 here 2 gps or 1 here 2 and 1 here 3 , I know a a matter of connectors and Config With ardu pilot, . thanks for your answer
With dual GPS you should always pair them the same. As the here 2 and 3 have different chipsets try to keep them the same units. This is what will work best with GPS Blending.
No. it requires a legitimate power source. I have a BEC regulated power source with a JR cable. Used some tweezers to pop out the connectors. put the Airunit cables in and then pushed the connectors back in. I'ts a temp measure to avoid any soldering.

I am able to pair Rx with the Tx using Herelink app and its showing “PAIRED” but on QGC app which came with the Tx there is no D2D option. Its showing “Waiting for vehicle connection” means the Tx is paired with the Tx but not with the QGC app. using Px4 mini supplying the right voltage to the air unit (12v feed from power module) tried switching SBUS I cannot get the D2D option to appear on the menu inside QGS app on ground unit although the pairing worked on the ground/air unit in the herelink app I cannot get LED1 to light up? LED2 is solid green within 10 seconds of applying power. Please help.
@@jeplex7302 Yep. My issue has been resolved. I don't remember how but not as soon as I turn on my Ground Unit and Air unit both pair themselves automatically and kept the connect build. Try reflashing both the units using Herelink flash. Should resolve the problem. The whole thing takes couple of hours because of slow source server but gets the thing done. Let me know mate, I will be here in the comments for support. :)
@@bahadurbille7274 I flash reset both the herelink air unit and remote. The remote pairs with the air unit and the versions are matching but when I switch over to QGC it still says waiting for vehicle connection in the top right corner.

Needs a few scroll wheels and a few 3 way switches and it would be perfect for inspection, otherwise its useless,, need channels for zoom, photo, record, gimbal yaw, pitch, 2 flight mode switches, camera switcher, landing gear, minimum.
So with dual S.BUS this means that dual operator setups can be made? I am looking to create a system with one FPV camera for the pilot operator and have gimbal/camera movement
The Sbus port is a pass though so that’s actually Sbus out from the FC, it’s passing through from the RC In port. This allows you to feed a gimbal directly

You really would want to use a external servo controller tbh, you can use it over Sbus with an adapter and you can calibrate with in Ardu some ways but the best way is to either use manual points as the ESC is pre set or use a servo controller.

I got a Herelink. Sticks are assigned to vehicle control. Buttons ABCD are assigned to flightmodes. Wheel control is assigned to camera zoom.Camera button is assigned to camera trigger. Now I would like to control the gimbal pan and tilt using two separate SBUS channels. What options do I have when all mechanical inputs are assigned already? It would be great if a wireless USB joystick (like PS3 or PS4 or PC) could be connected to the USB OTG port to get extra channels. Would this be an option to add to the firmware?
@@jeroentaverne8232 we can not say that it is the solution but, there is a way to control camera tilt using BCD buttons with a short and long press and for flight, mode switching you can use a button to switch between two modes. But as a result, I consider it not user friendly and at some points, not enough. I would like to ask if you found any better alternative for herelink?
@@jeroentaverne8232 got you, right now I am looking for an alternative, the main issue I guess with other control stations is no communication with pixhawk because of not supporting telemetry protocol(mavlink). I will inform you in the comment as soon as I can find the solution.
@@MadRC I just got it this week, I don't know how to see the FW/SW version ? The APP showed the green D2D spectrum once. Otherwise just gray screen when the Air-Unit was still on
Do you ha live the Solex App installed ? Is sounds like your firmware is very old. Follow this guide on updating both the GS and Air unit firmware. You will need a key from your vendor to install this though. They will give a key for free or it’s located on the box. docs.cubepilot.org/user-guides/herelink/herelink-user-guides/upgrading-firmware

The dual sbus.....Why does only 1 sbus work? Or is there a way to switch between the 2 or use both simultaneously?

The problem is that when I click of calibrate and I restart the system. My herelink controller doesn't connect back for the esc to read the throttle.
What does it mean if 'd2d' is not shown?

Ok here and now no but there are plans for this in future.
What is the AWG of the wire that is connected to the SBus port of the pixhawk?
It carries no current really so you can go as thin as you need

Does the controller have a clean hdmi out for client view without flight info e.t.c.?
No and yes. No clear output Officially but you can use a USB to HDMI adapter to mirror on display but it’s not clean.

No a FC is not required for pairing , are you on the latest firmware and what power supply are you feeding the air unit with ?

Take 12v feed from power module. Hope you have got solutions by now.
