And whenever we crossed the Bosphorus bridge to get to the airport, it would feel amazing. And let me tell you, Turkish food and sweets are the best! Especially the ice cream which is sold on streets. One of my favourite thing there was definitely donor kebab and baklava

Turks like to eat pickles or drink pickle juice, as they believe it is healthy and strengthens the body. They pickle just about anything. They also make pickles at home. Pickles are good for the digestive system and strengthen it. If you are thinking of eating a food that needs to be eaten with salt or something a little sour, pickles are a good accompaniment. That's why they sell right next to fish sellers.^^

Pickled Beetroot juice with cabbage and cucumber is the same colour as Pomegranate juice but both are healthy. One probiotic the other is antioxidant. But what the Sea Food staff said about Balik & Ekmek is true. That's why actually there's huge price difference between fresh fish and Balik & Ekmek which is normally frozen Norwegian fish. For more fish you ask for " Duble "" (single $3.50) which I ask actually triple whether have takeaway Döner or takeaway fish ''Balik & Ekmek"" Yes, very simple: just grilled fish and salad but love it, my favourite. Yep! Don''t worry. It's clean. That place has been there since Galatians - Galatia/Golden Horn but weren't selling fish and bread then 😂

Hi again! 😂 So you don't like fish but Döner etc. Well! That's Eastern Turkish food and they use spices such as black pepper, sweet red pepper and on preference " acili " or " acisiz" with " hot pepper " or " without hot pepper" Anything with fish is the Black Sea cuisine. And we never use any spices (traditionally) but herbs such as dill. Steve! As you said you don't like fish, so probably you won't like the Black Sea food except Pide ie.cheese and egg on top. However, designers of Lou Vuitton company have visited and mentioned the Black Sea food in their book. Well! Do you remember I've mentioned previously I's Laz! Actually, there is a good Black Sea food restaurant near where you stay ' Hayvore ' in Beyoğlu. Try fish there, maybe you might start liking fish or hate even more. Of course, no spice's used in a good Black Sea restaurant 😂

I have visited India's Kerala region for teater studies back in 2004 and fall in love with the culture, the people. I hope and think Pakistan is similar with more meat :).
While you are in Istanbul, whenever you need any help, advise, etc you can contact me any time. I'll be glad to help.
And a little advise for you. There is a bosphorus tour operated by the municipality, so it is very affordable. It is 65 TL per person. If you you took it during the work days it is not very crowded. It starts from Eminonu but you can hop in from Besiktas also; it takes you all the way to the Black Sea taking small stops on the bosphorus villages and gives you around 2 hours time before the return trip at a little fishermens village at the very end of the bosphorus. You will have a great views of the Yalis (Ottoman time wooden villas facing the bosphorus), Istanbul's forests etc.
I hope you'll have a good time here in Istanbul. Very glad to meet you.

I don't even understand how balik-ekmek (fish bread) became so popular among tourists. It used to be super cheap but now it's just overly priced fish inside bread because of the tourism. That's crazy and not good, it's hurting local economy. In Karakoy, you can find some of the best Greek and Levantine cuisine in the whole world actually, seriously, the best, like with Michelin stars and everything. Also Karakoy has still the meyhane culture going on, so there's a lot to do over there at nights. Especially: Raki Balik and dancing to Romani music. Besides food, those streets are full of history really, Camundo steps, Karakoy palace, the French passage, if you want to photograph something it's really the place. For example, the Bankalar street was the historical financial center, the Wall street of the late Ottomans, some of those old buildings you can photograph over there are really unique, each of them were designed by another world famous architect of the 18th and 19th century. It's just across the street where they sell those fishes, Tünel is another interesting sight, it's the second urban railway system in the world after London Underground and the first in continental Europe (built in 1860s), you were like 100 meters away from it, it is still functional and it takes you to the top of that hill to Taksim in 1 minute only. Some of those churches you can find in Karakoy, are as old as Hagia Sophia, just not that huge, but they are still functional, as churches I mean :) I believe a lot of tourists see Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia, blue mosque, the egyptian obelisk, grand bazaar and stuff and they think that's it about Istanbul. Actually that part of the city is the oldest part of the city also known as Constantinople, but there's lot more across the bridge, not only fish bread.
