Taylor; your performance of this piece has inspired me so much. The nuance of registration changes and beautiful legato made it even greater than the piece itself. I've always loved it. I will be playing it on March 29 in our Lenten concert which also includes the Faure' Requiem with strings & organ (Rutter edition) and a short piece by Puccini also entitled Requiem. Thank you for the love you give through your music. Chris Muller
Chris...A huge and heartfelt "thank you"!! Best wishes with your playing of this , as well as the Faure' and Puccini...I know that they will be superb!!
Hi Taylor, quite the piece for sure. . . great job and really solid performance! I will look into the world of Alec Rowley, thanks and have a super week . . .best. . . jeff
This is Alec Rowley's best known organ piece but he composed a substantial body of organ music. He wasn't Bach but his music is melodious, attractive and usually not too difficult. Personally I prefer Rowley's music to that of his near contemporary William Lloyd Webber and I think it's long overdue for rediscovery. Thanks for a lovely performance.
@@taylorharvey9669 There is a lot of Rowley's organ music on IMSLP. His Festival March and the Postlude from the Heroic Suite are among my favourites, especially the March.
Of course he isn't Bach. A bit of a silly euphemism really , completely dissimilar genre's and two and a half century's apart. Your comparison with Lloyd-Webber, however, is more appropriate, although I do not agree with your opinion
Such a beautiful English piece...
This piece is incredibly beautiful.
Yes, I agree...glad you watched...
