Im curious, while the cost of living is less, isn't the average income lower as well? If you are working in these countries you will be making the same amount the locals make in general which will make the cost of living just as difficult to live on?
Bali is a great place if you are comfortable in the water and a good free diver. spear fishing is a nice way to make more than a comfortable living while also not hurting the population of fish too harshly simply because you don't need much income to live and fish is a valuable resource there. 😀
Exactly. And what wasn't mentioned either is that in many of these countries it is rather difficult (and expensive) for a foreign national to apply for a work permit, let alone obtain permanent residency or at least a long-term visa.

Yes but the point people are making here is that, if you work for a few years in the United States, and save as much money as possible .. you could potentially retire in a cheap country and never have to work again
I'm so glad you skipped Panama. So many think it's dirt cheap to live here. It's very close to a 1:1 to the USA these days. Back in the late 90s is when it really started to change.
Thank you for this really interesting and original concept for a video. As for places to live, I have surprising number of friends that (independent of each other) decided to retire in Belize and a couple more who are just counting the months before they too, go there. Not sure if I could live in such a climate, but for the people who I know who love it there, it is apparently luxurious, the beaches are top notch and evidently there are many nude beaches as well. I suppose that if one were to live in such a hot and muggy climate, the ability to "let it all hang out" is one factor that could be near the top of the list.
My wife and I found ourself in a position when we either transition ourself from 20K earned monthly income to 3K retirement benefits and as result pressured to move from Connecticut to some bible belt states just to survive or, as an alternative to select one of those affordable luxury countries. We actually very seriously explored and considered 10 countries from your list (Costa Rica, Belize, Ecuador, Columbia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Czech Republic, Greece, and Bulgaria) and finally we have selected Bulgaria (#3 on your list) and after living here for 16 months we are still happy with our choice. The place we live (Saints Constantine and Helena - Varna suburb) is very comparable to two places we lived before (San Diego, CA and Auckland, New Zealand) but is at least 5-times cheaper. There is no perfect place for everyone, and some things drives us crazy here, but if you want to continue drink premium wines, eat organic food, and live in a sea-view luxury apartment located 5 minutes walk from beautiful beaches with excellent infrastructure and super fast Internet you have to select one of the countries you talked about.
What is included in the "cost of living " Seems in the US anyway the 1900 would only cover rent and utilities. Add food, car payments, insurance, gas prices you can easily double that figure

The title is quite misleading. For the monthly spend of $1000 please do not expect any type of “luxury”. I am intimately familiar with several countries on the list and $1K is sufficient for budget survival above the level of average local. To live comfortably I suggest one should triple that amount. I think the magic number for Europe is about $5K, Asia $4K, SA and South America $3K. Such a budget would deliver $7K lifestyle in US.

I have been in most of these countries you are mentioned and no way you live in luxury for the budget you are advertising, rather minimum survival but no luxury in anyways. If you want to live in more upscale and safe neighborhoods the budget is much more costlier. This is all based on minimum coast.
I have been for extended periods most of these countries ....half of them I would not seriously consider and the prices quoted here are very under true market value .. I would add an additional $400 - $ 500 monthly for a single person on most of them ... For example , having family in Egypt and spending part of the year there the real price for a normal NOT luxury life would be closer to $1200 a month ...
The benchmark for civilized societies is gay marriage. If a country gives equal rights to homosexuals that is a sign that foreigners and elderly folks will also be treated fairly. LUXURY LIVING IS WHERE THEY TREAT THEIR MINORITIES WITH DIGNITY. So from your list, the only countries with legal gay marriage are 23-Mexico, 22-South Africa, 16-Costa Rica, 11-Colombia, 9-Ecuador and 8-Chile. @@TheMysticRealms I think Houston is cheaper, but it really depends on the parts of Houston. Austin is just SKY high!
@@ElicBehexan yeah I haven't lived in that area in 8 years, but it was being high then. At least in that area, you can work in Austin at one of the bigger corporations and live in one of the cheaper, surrounding areas. Here, it's expensive no matter what, including surrounding areas. Honestly though, it's getting ridiculous to live anywhere in America.
Argentina?
I have been in most of these countries you are mentioned and no way you live in luxury for the budget you are advertising, rather minimum survival but no luxury in anyways. If you want to live in more upscale and safe neighborhoods the budget is much more costlier. This is all based on minimum coast.
Where is India??
#9, I don't know how you don't crack up at the capital's name.
"Confucius say 'Man going wrong way in turnstile going to...' "
Fun fact, Bagkok's full Thai name is actually:
Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit
Looks like I've gotta brush up on my Spanish for my retirement.
And since I am a tightwad, my two top destinations by price, according to your list would be: Colombia $574 and Mexico $678. Thanks, pal. I've gotta get my suitcases ready. Aqui vengo amigos Colombianos. Preparenme mi condo en Medellin, por favor.
One more thing. I think you missed Argentina. With their peso at historic lows, you can probably live luxuriously with $500 a month.
You missed Nepal?
cheapest country to live in luxury? transportation rates or having private vehicle is among most expensive in the world.
Nicaragua is the Cuba of Central America.
What about Turkiey?
Sorry, but the Philippines' official population as of 2021 was 111Million, so its the second to Indonesia, not Vietnam. In fact, the unofficial count is already 114M. Just saying...
Ok so the USA is kinda big so for my city & state (AK) monthly current cost of living is $2012.00🤦🏼♀️ I don’t know how I’m alive😅
You're not alone. It's getting brutal. Inflation is up, wages are not. "Living wage" isn't really that anymore.
Yeah. I’m trying to figure out how the cost of living in the US is only $1200. There is no way you could live in “luxury” in the US with $1200. You would actually be below to the poverty line at $1200 a month.
I'm not going to go to Mexico anytime soon..... not from my point of view and the things I've heard
I went back in 2018 to Cancun.
I went let’s just say no mas Mexico 🇲🇽
