I do hope you update the app and update the Skydio so you can show off Keyframe Skill. I find it hard to find myself liking it in the way others seem to praise it. I do however feel it is cool and adds to the usefulness of the Skydio 2. Unfortunately I just don't see a real need for it mostly because the Keyframe is not able to be saved. Well, you have to take off and position the Skydio 2 in the EXACT location and orientation that it was whwnit started the Keyframe Skill originally and even then it can't store more than one Keyframe.
What I don't like about Cable Cam or Keyframe is that you actually have to fly the "waypoints" wasting a battery, trying to figure out where and how you want to frame a shot. If you could add these points to a map and manipulate later offline that would be cool.
I also understand that the waypoints for Keyframe are not GPS coordinates. They are visually derived. Apparently, Skydio decided that using visual cues rather than GPS coordinates was a better way to produce the way points. The problem is that they are not reproducible in this way.

Yes, exciting news about Keyframe. But you're right to critique it - would be great to be able to save and also to not have to fly to the spot and mark it first. Thank you for your comment!

I see the Cable Cam skill as just that. A virtual cable that you'd set up on a Hollywood set from one roof to another.

Need to do an update on the way point feature called keyframe.

What I find odd is that the Skydio 2 has no way to do a POI shot. This is due to the fact that you can only select people or cars. So if you just want to get a cool cinematic shot of a tree in the rising sunlight and circle around it as the sun rises, you'd have to have a human or car able to be tracked by the Skydio 2. And that would ruin that shot.

      Yes, also a good point!

This is the one glaring deficiency of Skydio. A quick spotlight mode to lock onto a lighthouse, tree, house, etc. and be able to fly around in any direction is so useful and takes a fraction of the time to perform that the new keyframe function does.

@@agasdoc Yes, will be interesting to see how their firmware evolves (improves?) over time.

Do you think the Skydio would be safe to autonomously follow my sailboat?

Probably if you set a home point over land

Yes, there are many videos showing over water tracking, however, unless you are just slowly coasting along with not much wind or on motor power it may not work well and you could run out of batter sooner. When the battery is low it will attempt to return to its launch point but if you are moving, we'll, good luck! Also, if the battery is too low then it will just land so good luck with that too!
Personally I wouldn't try this with a sail boat given the requirements needed for sailing. I'd much rather follow in a motor boat as a chase boat for the Skydio 2.

Good comments in this thread. Yes, possible to do this, but I'd want a really calm day and would also want to be pretty conservative with the battery and keeping the sailboat close to the home point.
