amazing video, ive seen at least ten other videos about amusement park accidents and this is the best one ive ever seen , super informative , respectful , and honest without assumptions or opinions !!! instant subscription !!!!
These accidents are sad, especially because people lost their lives. I wonder how many of these accidents could’ve been prevented? The first story is a prime example of what happens when you don’t follow the rules. But a lot of these other stories, the writers were just going about their day at an amusement park. That kind of stuff scares me because I love amusement parks. I love roller coasters and I always think that I’m going to be perfectly safe on them. But these accidents happened and I’m pretty sure that the people that the accidents happen to felt the same way😢😢
@@drumnbasssakuga9352 no of course not. I just meant if inspections were done, parts replaced as needed (instead of rigged) then many of the ride accidents you see wouldnt happen.
ALL of them. Simple as that. If maintenance had been performed as specified by ride manufacturers - no accident. If park employees felt empowered to remove a guest who should not ride - no accident. If guests who don’t fit the the parameters of a rider and accepted they should not ride - no accident. If guests obeyed the safety signs and safety barriers meant to ensure their safety - no accident. None of these were caused by an “act of god”. I’ve yet to find an amusement accident that was unavoidable.
The Superman ride incident is actually frighteningly similar to something I been thru. One a the most recent times I’ve been to Cedar Point, I was getting on gatekeeper with my sister and I got in the seat but when they checked it, the employee wasn’t satisfied so she moved me to a different row I’m assuming bc it was slightly wider and had a longer belt. Obviously I’m alive to type this so I was fine. But thinking back on it now I’m so glad that didn’t happen to me bc that’s one a my biggest fears
Great video! I like the primary research you did showing handwritten notes. For some reason the audio gets very quiet during the transitions between different accidents. You have a new subscriber!
As much as I really wish that I had a second chance to be paid as a ride operator as a second life, it also seems, as small of a chance as it may be, it's also the one job that if things go wrong, they can go WRONG...
I remember the Batman ride accident so vividly. Those teens were nothing but trouble, and I'm glad no one was hurt despite the man needing to change his clothing because of blood.
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od I don’t think they meant the teens “should die.” More so that the teens willingly hopped a fence and entered dangerous areas of the ride. Chances of getting struck and killed by a moving train rise significantly for anyone in that situation-which is exactly why the fence was there in the first place.
Im jealous... I cant go in most rides because of my sensitive stomach. Its not that i have to puke but my stomach just really hurts from all the force giving me the feeling of nauseous and some type of weird cramps. When i tell others that i cant go in they always blame me for being scared. While im only scared for the pain its gonna cause me 😓
I absolutely love riding roller coasters and now that I have permanent damage in my lower back from a serious car accident that happened almost a year ago and now I can't ride anything that has a jerking movement.
All I can say, is imagine being on the ride before these. Knowing that you avoided these horrible accidents by minutes, and being a few people ahead in line. Or being in the next group about to get on. Imagine if you let someone go ahead of you in line, only for them to be in one of these accidents. The idea makes me sick.
All rides have emergency stops that cut all power to the ride but rollercoasters don’t have brakes on the actual train, the brakes are on the track so all they can do is stop it on the next brake run or on the lift hill
The New Texas Giant accident wasn't "explained in detail," on this poor video, in spite of the cause being well known and simple. The deceased riders torso was not underneath the lap bar but riding on top of it. Therefore, she was not restrained and came out from under the lap bar easily. The controversy over this accident is that employees likely noticed this dangerous situation, but didn't use logic & common sense to figure out that the rider could leave her seat even though the lap bar was down & locked properly. Employees might've been reluctant to call attention to this, not wanting to refuse the lady her ride or embarrass her due to her obesity. There were no mechanical problems with New Texas Giant that day. The amusement industry did learn a valuable lesson over this accident and parks worldwide have initiated measures to prevent this from happening again.
Yep, the operators feel victim to “chronic niceness” and it cost that lady lower body. However, at the end of the day, nobody owes you safety. Don’t trust a high school kid with your life. It wasn’t the rider’s fault per say, but she should have known her limits.
@@davemccage7918what a dumb mindset to have on that incident. Regardless of their ages it is Six flags responsibility to provide a safe environment. She didn't speak much english and it's reported that she did ask to be double checked and let off and they reassured her. So yea she was concerned for her safety. I've gone to that six flags many times since childhood and many of the people employed there were people I had studied with. That park was slacking on safety and overall just knowledgeable staff until this incident lost them even more money and slapped them in the faces.
Not sure how you could attribute this to anything but politically correct cult of victimhood which now pervades everything. Not to mention the incidences with disabled people, the operators just don’t want to be sued by some entitled loudmouth.
Not wanting to embarrass obese people has lead to more than 1 death... It needs to be part of training if it isn't. Safety is one area where it's acceptable to be less than polite.
I was working there back when it happened. Most folks fail to realize we were yelled at and suspended for denying riders. I was forced to let a basically toddler ride on the batman ride there because the manager refused to deny the family. And almost all of us were 16yrs old working 12 hour shifts in the heat
Safety is where you often want someone autistic to make sure people do things properly EVERY single time and in ALL circumstances, including the circumstances where there is pressure to let rules slide, and when it is most important to ensure they are followed.
Two of the accidents on this list had the same rollercoaster design (the mouse one) and it really scares me because there’s one of them at the amusement park close to where I live😭😭
14:39 This guy was being a dick to the teenage operators and very likely threatening to sue for discrimination. That guy knew he shouldn’t go on that ride, his family knew, EVERYONE knew but in typical vet fashion he decided to act entitled
Daniel Tosh has a whole bit about this in one of his stand up shows, probably about this exact incident. One of things he mentions is how when someone has a cast on everyone always asks how it happened...
I remember an incident with the Great Nor'easter at Morey's Pier where a maintenance worker, in a restricted area while the ride was running, was struck by the foot of a rider and killed. This was back in the early '90s.
The fact I just rode on Superman at Six flags New England and they had a girl trapped in one of the seats because the seatbelt malfunctioned. (they had to use the jaws of life to get her out) Scared me more after this video with that horrible death of that guy. Glad there were no photos.
So basically, if people learned to follow the rules, ride operators never let rules slide, and park management never went cheap on maintenance to save a few dollars, pretty much nobody would ever be in a roller coaster accident.
I remember when the Six Flags accident happened in 2008. From the story that I remember is that the boys were looking for a hat that one of them lost during his ride on The Batman earlier.
I haven't seen anyone say this, but don't let this make you scared of coasters. These accidents are only due to people not following rules, bad operators, or bad safety checks.
I guess the same kind of person who raises a kid that thinks it’s okay to stand up on rides as long as they try not to get caught. Absolutely awful for everyone.
Little short on the analysis. The event description and outcomes are efficiently described, but without analysis of "This person was injured because of a combination of human factors" or "This ride failed due to poor foresight from the designers" at the end of it, you leave the audience to decide potentially {all these coasters and theme parks are unsafe and terrifying}
@@CoasterCollege the video is titled "10 Roller Coaster Accidents Explained in Detail" though. If it was "10 coaster accidents summarised" then the review would have been more positive 😊
Man, these things are not safe at all. And we really should ban that class 2 restraint, and use better restraints regardless of the classification of the track. Six flags (fiesta Texas) use some of your videos as training (specifically the mine drop ride)
That's insane dude, I'll have to check it out
I’ve always held Fiesta Texas in high regard (and not just because it’s my home park.) Now I’ve got even more reason to❤
Thats cool to hear!
Just found you. Appreciate your experienced and researched approach. And, much appreciate that you respect the hurt and sometimes killed riders. It's not exploitive and pandering. Thank you.
pretty comforting to think that majority of rollercoaster accidents are due to the riders not listening to general instructions
I wholeheartedly agree. I don't love riding rollercoasters, so it really helps me to listen to all of these stories and have them mostly be caused by guest stupidity
First story is pretty wild. Heard it many times. Allegedly, the person who had struck the boy shattered his shin bone.
Ngl, these videos are very relaxing for me. I really enjoy listening to these videos as they're very informative and you don't include any opinions or speculation without saying it is.
relaxing
meanwhile, the video: decapitation!! 💀💀
Next time don't say videos about death and accidents are relaxing. Just stick with that they're informative

Moral of the story with lap bars, don't be overweight, have legs, test for yourself whether it's actually engaged.
A bit of overweight is ok, just don’t be morbidly obese.

amazing video, ive seen at least ten other videos about amusement park accidents and this is the best one ive ever seen , super informative , respectful , and honest without assumptions or opinions !!! instant subscription !!!!
But these accidents happened and I’m pretty sure that the people that the accidents happen to felt the same way😢😢
I would say every one of them was preventable.
@@JMetal98Preventable yes, but what’s scary is that most of these couldn’t have been predicted by the victims.
Ooh perfect to listen to while I'm folding laundry, I salute you sir!
I honestly LOVE the simulation where you can see almost exactly what it would be like! Its really cool!
I watch out of curiosity and interest. No fear in me, and still love rollercoasters and other “fair” rides. Just so interesting.
I'm so sorry you had to go through that, I'm just happy that nobody was severely injured... (other than the poor kid.)
I know you aint appose to say it but... how the hell did the foot that did ze thing not break from going that fast?
Someone was decapiated
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od I don’t think they meant the teens “should die.” More so that the teens willingly hopped a fence and entered dangerous areas of the ride. Chances of getting struck and killed by a moving train rise significantly for anyone in that situation-which is exactly why the fence was there in the first place.
@@HugeRMCFanBoY-bx3od Where did they say that the teens should die? All they said was they were nothing but trouble. Stop being so dramatic.
And people make fun of me for not going on the "big rides".
I've seen how negligent businesses can be, and to me it's not worth the risk.
cool shorter queues
Im jealous... I cant go in most rides because of my sensitive stomach. Its not that i have to puke but my stomach just really hurts from all the force giving me the feeling of nauseous and some type of weird cramps. When i tell others that i cant go in they always blame me for being scared. While im only scared for the pain its gonna cause me 😓
@@MissxLarizthey need to be more understanding
You should start a podcast and interview former theme park workers. I bet they have some interesting stories
I still wish a what really happened video on Idlewild and or the minor Thinderbolt accident or the death caused by a microburst at Kennywood.
Idlewild is coming!
The Kennywood one sounds interesting
I absolutely love riding roller coasters and now that I have permanent damage in my lower back from a serious car accident that happened almost a year ago and now I can't ride anything that has a jerking movement.
I've been on every coaster on the list accept Big Thunder Mtn Disneyland, Ride of Steel Darien Lake and Fujin Raijin 2
Impressive!
Those danger zones (DZs) should be fenced off. Lads will always go where they should not be.
Maybe teach those lads not to enter those danger zones in the first place. Not the theme parks fault for the stupidity of the “lads”
All I can say, is imagine being on the ride before these. Knowing that you avoided these horrible accidents by minutes, and being a few people ahead in line. Or being in the next group about to get on. Imagine if you let someone go ahead of you in line, only for them to be in one of these accidents. The idea makes me sick.
love this one because it’s sort of like those clickbait horribly incorrect theme park accident videos but done right
We love you in Japan bro keep up the good work!
Why does this get recommended to me the night before I go to Thorpe Park. 🤦♂️
On the first one, security should have some kind of emergency button that stops the ride if they see someone in a dangerous position.
i mean it was too late if when the security guard saw the kid lying on the ground not moving
what about the obese one or the amputee
@@avreve wasnt talking bt tht one
All rides have emergency stops that cut all power to the ride but rollercoasters don’t have brakes on the actual train, the brakes are on the track so all they can do is stop it on the next brake run or on the lift hill
moral of the lesson: dont ride roller coasters in random ass parks
Safety is where you often want someone autistic to make sure people do things properly EVERY single time and in ALL circumstances, including the circumstances where there is pressure to let rules slide, and when it is most important to ensure they are followed.
what does autism have to do with this?
@@Johnwicklover1994 people who are autistic have a greater tendency to follow rules ALL the time, not just when it's convenient
@@herseem Maybe some of us, but not all of us.
I love how you went to the trouble to create animations and models and find original footage.
Love the visuals for this one. The simulatons were made very well.
Never ride in front row again is the lesson i take from this.
Batman is my favorite since I was 15.
On the news they said he lost his hat and was going to find it
Imagine being known as the guy who kicked someone’s head off
💀💀💀💀
Daniel Tosh has a whole bit about this in one of his stand up shows, probably about this exact incident. One of things he mentions is how when someone has a cast on everyone always asks how it happened...
I think the most memorable coaster accident for me was the smiler at alton towers, where two trains collided in the batwing element.
The fact that they used freaking glue on a wheel still blows my mind
Fear in rollercoasters restored
shockwave was so fun, im so glad i got to ride it before it closed
1. No Spin Roller Coasters
2. No messing around
3. Don't every ride a rollercoaster ever again in your entire life
4. Don’t leave your house ever again.
rollercoasters are safer than riding in cars. Go ride a rollercoaster, just don’t screw around, follow the rules, and be vocal about your safety.
Scariest thing is that most incidents where due to lackluster maintenance in one way or another
I remember an incident with the Great Nor'easter at Morey's Pier where a maintenance worker, in a restricted area while the ride was running, was struck by the foot of a rider and killed. This was back in the early '90s.
So good! your videos are high quality and super informative, you always give victims respect. You've helped me get over me fear of coasters :]

The fact I just rode on Superman at Six flags New England and they had a girl trapped in one of the seats because the seatbelt malfunctioned. (they had to use the jaws of life to get her out) Scared me more after this video with that horrible death of that guy. Glad there were no photos.
The first case involved an idiot trying to retrieve a hat, climbing 2 fences in a restricted area 🤦
He lost his head and hat
“Hey jimmy we can’t afford the repairs for the coaster”
“Ah don’t worry mate I got some pritstik here”
So basically, if people learned to follow the rules, ride operators never let rules slide, and park management never went cheap on maintenance to save a few dollars, pretty much nobody would ever be in a roller coaster accident.
Correct
so glad I got this video recommended to me a week before I go to valley fair x.x
I remember when the Six Flags accident happened in 2008. From the story that I remember is that the boys were looking for a hat that one of them lost during his ride on The Batman earlier.
ooohhh
What I've gleaned from this is:
1. Don't be stupid
2. Don't be too fat
second point only applies if you don't follow the first
I'm glad I'm getting reccomended these videos AFTER I went to Disneyland
I haven't seen anyone say this, but don't let this make you scared of coasters. These accidents are only due to people not following rules, bad operators, or bad safety checks.

The last one was unbelievable. Who let's 3 children go on a roller coaster all by themselves?!
I guess the same kind of person who raises a kid that thinks it’s okay to stand up on rides as long as they try not to get caught. Absolutely awful for everyone.
so im never going on a rollercoaster again
YAY queues have 1 less person!
Roller coaster accidents are rarer than being struck by lightning two times in a row
Little short on the analysis. The event description and outcomes are efficiently described, but without analysis of "This person was injured because of a combination of human factors" or "This ride failed due to poor foresight from the designers" at the end of it, you leave the audience to decide potentially {all these coasters and theme parks are unsafe and terrifying}
It's a cut from much longer videos with more details
@@CoasterCollege the video is titled "10 Roller Coaster Accidents Explained in Detail" though. If it was "10 coaster accidents summarised" then the review would have been more positive 😊
The last one and the mt. Olympus one are the same ride design. Wild
Man, these things are not safe at all. And we really should ban that class 2 restraint, and use better restraints regardless of the classification of the track. Assuming that guests aren't gonna be dumb, like in the last accident of the video, is just a recipe for disaster. ESPECIALLY when they're children.
I've never rode a coaster and probably never will. Not due to the fear of the coaster but my fear of heights and anxiety. But theses are fun to watch
