When I was driving long haul, I drove in 36 states, and the drive up Fancy Gap northbound was by far the prettiest sight I saw anywhere. Looking down in that valley, at the farms, communities, churches, etc... just beautiful! Like something from a picture postcard.
Ole 238 sure sounds sweet in that ole Jimmy brig especially In the tunnel. Reminds me of the 74' GMC 9500 single axle tractor my family had as a lowboy tractor for years. Used to love hearing that belly blower exhaust from the 238 (671) echo off the tunnel walls in Memphis. Also like that lil "short dog" ( MR/MC model Mack / Tunnel truck @ 6:50 mark.)
I love the 6-71t’s. I sometimes wish our brigadier had a turbo. My grandpa drove a lot of 9500’s back in the day. He said most of the ones he drove was 6-71’s and he drove a general with a silver 8v92.
The 9500 my grandfather had was a former American Express truck . After several years We had to replace it with a Tandem Tractor due to we on the borderline with a dozer & excavator he had bought to replace some older equipment. The tandem tractor was a 81' GMC Brigadier with 318 Detroit and 9513 Road ranger transmission , 44K Rockwell rears on Hendrickson walking beams & double frame with 2 line wet kit to run a Landoll lowboy trailer as the truck originally belonged to an equipment dealer. We used the wet kit to pull a dump trailer as our lowboy trailer was a fixed neck .
Beautiful scenery...Fancy Gap...and many other places in Virginia and West Virginia. Enjoy seeing your stuff. We have an old 51 REO wrecker that my dad bought new. Love the old trucks and love driving them. 🥰🇺🇸
@@graystone5.3 🇺🇸 That REO and I go back a long way! 😳 There’s a long story there, trust me! I was extremely proud to be able to retrieve the truck and haul it home. I’m still working on the truck, little by little, but it doesn’t run. Looking forward to being able to start it up and drive it for the first time! I’m gonna record that process like crazy! This truck has lot of history and I’m still learning things about it and my dad. 😳 I love driving old trucks...the look, feel and nostalgia? American made! 🇺🇸 Have fun, stay safe and...”Make the trip, but don’t forget to enjoy the ride!l 😎 Blessings to you and your family!
Sure don't see any dodge medium or heavy trucks around anymore but gm still has a good showing. Besides dodge is now Fiat. So lookin kina stupid sir. Durmax is a damn good engine.
That tunnel part is killer

Tell the one driving the truck that if he had a pickup with a Cummins instead of a duramax he could drive it home instead of hauling it home.
Harlan Akers he said it was just an excuse to get the Detroit out
