    Natalie's victory in Samoa has always struck me as one of the most interesting moments in all of Survivor. Many have argued that Russell was robbed, but as Erik says very eloquently, in Survivor "reality is reality"--whoever gets the most votes wins. It may not seem like part of the game, but if you act like a sociopath like Russell did, you may disqualify yourself and that's the way it goes.

    • @aiyoungboy4484
      @aiyoungboy4484 2 года назад +12

      In my opinion you should do whatever it takes to get to the end, however unethically it takes. Now for the vote, go ahead and choose the more ethical game, but to reward someone who coasted and was dragged to the end for not being a threat like Natalie simply out of spite has always rubbed me the wrong way.

And look what happened. According to jurors post season apparently Mick was the favorite to win before final tribal but his performance was terrible so they chose between the person who played the better game but hated and the person who rode his coattails but was nice to them

    • @reginamachamer821
      @reginamachamer821 Год назад +9

      @@aiyoungboy4484 I somewhat agree that sometimes you have to play that kinda game to get to the end.. but where Russell went wrong (imo) was that, after all the time spent with these people, he couldn't read the room. Especially in samoa.. it was obvious that the jury wasn't going to respond well to him arrogantly "owning it", even if most of what he was saying was true. Everyone has an ego. And he should have known, strategically, when to just humor people and tell them what they want to hear.
      Todd certainly pissed people off too, but he knew how to play the jury at ftc. Also he didn't hide important tools and burn people clothes, which helps lmao idk I just don't understand why Russell couldn't just master the art of bullshitting. He would have been unstoppable. He may have won 2 seasons in a row.

      Other guy should have gotten the votes then. If someone is a goat and they win because they're unnoteworthy, it's bullshit. Erik is doing everything he can to sell her to the jury and give his reasoning for why he's voting for her beyond being bitter and the best he can say is "she's humble" which may as well mean "she wasn't relevant in the least and you could remove her from the game and nothing would change."

      Cam Quintin A bitter jury or a smart jury? I admit that Russell played the the best ‘strategic’ game on Samoa, but Natalie really did play Russell on a more subtle way. She made genuine connections on most of the merged tribe members with Russell being completely blind about it. With that blindness came the final fatal mistake Russell did, thinking Natalie was and I quote you “a coattail rider” aka. a GOAT; and taking her to the end. Natalie’s whole game was pretty much an unintentionally elaborate jury management, in which Russell didn’t have because he was busy ‘outplaying’ the outcasts. That was also his fatal flaw in HvV, thinking that bringing two previous winners will automatically make the jury vote for him to win.

    • @harryhealey4298

      Cam Quintin if Natalie hadn’t orchestrated Erik’s blindside, Foa Foa would’ve most definitely been jury members 1 2 3 and 4.
      You can say Natalie didn’t deserve it but she understood the game and Russell doesn’t care about the jury phase. That’s his biggest downfall as well as his arrogance and ignorant attitude.

To this day have still not got over Aubey not winning Kao Rong, because of Jason, Scott, and Debbie all behaving like immature assholes. But in the case of Russell Hantz, it is a very drastic exception. If Aubrey was as deplorable a human being as Russell and treated people just as inhumane, than maybe I would understand Michelle winning over her. But she wasn't. Aubrey didn't have the best social skills, but she was by no means a Russell-level deplorable person her bitter jury percieved her to be. She busted her ass the entire game, and made it to the end despite losing two that's right TWO of her best allies through medi-vacuation.
      Had Joe not gotten medi-vacked, Aubrey has the numbers to make sure Michelle gets voted off before the final 5, and she is in the final 3 with Tai and Joe. There is no stretch of the imagination you tell me she doesn't win that scenario.

    Tony. When I first showed up, you and I, first day, became the best of buddies and we were on the bottom of the alliance. Instant friends and you know what? We started to share intimate stories. Now you sit here now, and you would not be sitting there if I didn't have a big part, in it, because nobody here... ever... for one second trusted you. They trusted me, and I had to convince them all to trust me to trust you, and I spent the entire game putting out little flames for Tony, so you could sit there. And you came to me in your paranoia and you said (imitates Tony's voice and facial expressions when he's flustered): "ahh, ahh, I'm telling you man, I'm telling you, knew it, somethings going wrong here..." (stops imitating tony) I said, Tony, take a chill pill. Relax. I'm here for you. I'm never going to leave you and you said "I need to know that for a fact." I said, well don't be swearing on your mother and your kid, you've already done that for everybody else, find something different. You looked right at me and you said to me (voice trembles) "I will swear on my father's grave."
    I've lost two siblings, and those two losses (tearing up) have put two holes in my heart that could never, ever be repaired. I would never... EVER...EVER... would have gone back on the promise of my brothers. Not today, not tomorrow, not for a hundred million dollars. Not for anything. I have one million dollar question for you that I want you to answer to your mother, to your wife Marissa, to your daughter Anistasia. Was it worth it to you, for a million dollars, to sacrifice your own father to get you here. Was that worth it to you?
    I asked you a question. I don't want excuses. I'm saying to you haht to haht, friend to friend, human being to human being, answer the question. Is it worth it to you, to be here, to play a game for a million dollars, on your father's soul and memory. Yes or no. It's a million dollar question.

    at first i thought sue’s snakes and rats speech was iconic but after ive watched it a few times it still is iconic but very hypocritical of her. like gervase said in his confessional, sue had no problems doing all of that stuff when she was on top but only did once she lost. what kelly did to sue wasnt even that bad compared to what people do nowadays in survivor. if anyones a loser in life its sue for that speech alone.

    You’d think Sue's plea would be the one to win it for Rich, but if you watched the finale, you’d know it had no effect on the vote. Sean and Rudy (and maybe even Greg) were dead set on Rich, Jenna and Gervase were set on Kelly (Gervase even called Sue a sore loser), and Colleen actually switched her vote from Rich to Kelly.
