I never understood why he wasn't nominated for the Oscar. His performance was so incredible, intense. His death scene alone should have won him an Oscar.
Absolutely!!! Agreed!!! I think that he was not a "hollywood insider", also, he did not campaign for it...too bad, great actor. Nice to hear someone acknowledge Stephen Boyd, Thank You, Of course Heston was Awesome too!
@@MissDebraShe tragically came down with cancer which she suffered with a long time ago tragically she died from it in 1970. She passes away at a young age. Haya Haareet just died in 2021 in London England. Haya was the last surviving member of the entire main cast.
Does anyone know that Charlton Heston was the third choice for the role of Judah Ben-Hur. It was first offered to Burt Lancaster and Paul Neuman. Lancaster said he read the script and thought it was “boring”, and Neuman said he didn’t have legs for a toga. And that part in the chariot race where Ben Hur runs over the wreckage of another chariot, and he nearly gets dumped out? That was not in the script. That was a stunt man doubling as Ben Hur. He forgot to put his feet in into some restraints on the floor of the chariot. But (director) William Wyler “No, that looks great! Leave it in!”
Yes, Wyler realized and lamented that he had cast all the "bad guys" actors with blue eyes, he really saw this as a problem...so he had them all wear brown contacts as another way of differentiating 'good from bad', but, in the end it was their great performances that won the day, William Wyler awesome director!
We needed to know the identity of the opera singer who portrayed Jesus Christ (William Wyler loved his perfect hands, not interested in showing his face) and the British actor who portrayed the centurion at the oasis where Judah has fateful meeting with Jesus. I rate this a C+
Are you kidding!? Ben Hur was the first movie ever to win 11 Academy Awards! William Wyler never showed His face because, as Heston said, "The part of Jesus Christ cannot be played"
Actually, that 'stubt man' was Joe Canutt, son of most famous and Greatest stunt men of all time, Yakima Canutt; howecer, it was pre-arranged. The most dramatic part was tgat as Joe came around, setting up for the stunt, his hands were in the wring posution!! Wyler and Yakima looked on in horror because Joe could have been killed! But, gratefully, he pulled off the stunt with no injuries😊
Never knew this until recently about Yakima. He was the guy in Gone with the Wind that accosted Scarlett O'Hara on the bridge while she was driving the buggy thru shantytown.
I did not know that!! Interesting! He was a Great Stunt Man, Can't think o the movie at this moment, but Yakima did that famous stunt going under the racing wagon in a John Wayne western, Remember?
@@lindamariewright3651 Just looked it up..Yakima Canutt-Stagecoach. Brillant and very dangerous stunts especially with horses running at that speed. Great classic Western movie.

Hollywood discriminated against him for being irish!!!
@@lindamariewright3651was discriminated against for being Irish
Didn't think about that! Hollywood 1950s? You probably right!
Haya was drop dead gorgeous as Esther as well as Cathy O'Donnell who played Tirzah!! Magnificent movie that will never ever grow old!!
What happened to Tirzah in just 10 years? 5:36

Greatest movie evermade . I liked haya harareet
She was beautiful. Miklos Rosa was a fantastic symphony director. Maestro.
You have messed some of these up , Finley Currie for one.
It was interesting to see Stephen Boyd with blue eyes. I read once that he wore brown contact lenses as Messala to look different from Judah.

Stephen Boyd’s after picture is wrong.
I think Cathy O'Donnell's "after" picture is wrong, too.
Classico,rip ❤
I had a crush on Tirzah !
The whole prog is not MATHEMATICALLY ACCURATE OK. it’s pure CLICK BAIT.
Oh you use the word suddenly way too much. Most of them died in their 80s, not quite suddenly
He’s saying “sadly” not “suddenly”
What? Finlay Currie 81 in 1959 and 90 in 1986?? He would have been 108!! Someone needs a calculator.

It was 'Stagecoach' 1939, just found the clip on utube, but dont know how to send it😊

Sebastián Rulli se parece físicamente al Gran Actor Charlton Heston.
Some strange maths in this show ???
Yes. I was starting to think I was going bonkers.
The way of the flesh.
A lot of the images of the actors as "old" people are not the right actors at all. A bit annoying.
Tutta fuffa ....nulla diverso dal normale corso della vita ...si vuole enfatizzare il niente .
