Great Video, I installed a 13000lb X-Bull winch today on my 2 door Bronco after watching this. I installed the control box under the hood. Thank you for the video.
Great Video Steve. The isolator switch is a catch 22 situation: if don't install it you have a BIG wire always live but if you install it you have one more device that can fail in an emergency situation. As far as winching the car in half I haven't come across one single person that it has happened yet. Thanks
I tend to agree it’s another thing to fail but it’s not a massive job to just bolt the 2 wires together if needed. I’ve heard story’s of it but never really seen it. I have seen winches get stuck on and destroy the front of cars before.
@@Australian4x4Adventures A mate of mine had a Wireless winch turn on un commanded, Damaged the steel bullbar & burnt out the wiring, Lucky he had some large cutters to cut the cable. As for the isolator switch i use a heavy duty one.
@@Australian4x4Adventures yep I've had two of those type of switches fail on me. Still glad I have one installed, because I had the solenoid break off inside the control box and rub through the wires on the inside. Plus I'm paranoid of someone bumping on the remote and destroying my bar and winch.
They sell that same winch around here, but with different brand. Here it's "Tyrex". Cheers for making this video. I just bought one and this video is helpful 👍
That keyring lanyard is to clip ur wireless reciever to the winch control port cover rubber. So if ur reciever comes loose, the clip lanyard catches it before it falls to the floor or in a bog hole lol.
Great video Steve as always. I don't like using isolators on winches as I have seen so many fail. Instead of using an isolator on my car, I have alter the control box wiring and allow it to activate only with the ignition on, just incase you decide to winch my car in half lol
😂. Good working in of the winching my car in half bit. Well done. I’ve never had an isolator like this one. I’ve had a separate Incab isolation switch but never a big key like one that I have now. Guess we will see if anything goes wrong with it. The WiFi remote is amazing 😍😍
@@Australian4x4Adventures well if the isolator ever does fail, it's easy to bypass by putting both lugs on one stud of the isolator. P.s I feel like I've drawn the shortest straw with my carbon 12000lb winch, I didn't get a key ring or a damper with it 😒

Only one key point missing like all the winch install videos and also for refitting a winch as well, the install videos need to make a verbal point that its important that a winch motor is on the drivers side of a vehicle and the clutch on the passenger side and if a rear winch is being fitted then the motor is on the passenger side and clutch on the drivers side for a rear winch set up.
