I agree, David is the most accomplished (with regards to actual skill level) mixing and mastering engineer on youtube that is going THIS deep into their workflow and processes. Pensado's Place used to with mixing, but that Dave was more focused on cool new techniques and weird quirky little things he'd figured out, rather than core techniques that are the foundation for where the techniques he was teaching would be applied on top of. David/Mr.Mixbus literally shows the ABC of what makes a good mix or master, rather than frilly little things to add on top of an already good mix, although we get some of them too from time to time as well ofc. I'm getting one of the mixing courses in a week or two as I'm really intrigued to see what gems are hidden in there!

I've seen people use De-Essers on distorted guitars and synths before, to smooth them out in a mix, and it works really well, and is a really cool technique for things like distorted synth baselines to really smooth out the top-mid whilst still retaining the main texture.

David, your opinion what’s your top 4-5 multiband compressors as of now? And which one would you consider the easiest learning curve?
From easiest to hardest learning curve: PRO-MB, easy, broad strokes. Drawmer 1973 Softube, still easy, great color, probably one of the best all around but only 3 bands. McDSP multiband, tons of choices, different comps for each band, not surgical but 4 bands with 4 different behavior/colors. iZotope Dynamic, total control, longer learning curve.
Just multi band compress to your taste. Duuuuuh. 🎉🎉

Hey David, why don’t you use the 32x over sampling on soothe? The rookie in me assumed that higher oversampling would be better quality. What’s your thought process there? Thank you!
lol no, oversampling is not for better quality, is to avoid aliasing

@@HollerAtcherBoi ?? bro you know what oversampling is? if you workin at 44.100 a x2 oversampling is gonna multiply that number x2 and apply a low pass filter so the harmonics generated in a distortion process don't seem reflected. research a bit before talking so arrogant. a x32 oversampling is not gonna be necessary unless you are applying massive distortion to a signal

don't like soothe, for me it always sucks out the life out of tracks, weiss is my favourite dynamics processor ever though!! makes anything better, sometimes i use 3 in a row for different purposes

No, I have no reason and no need to use headphones in general (besides a 5 seconds check on a few things) nor emulations of other studios

I'm not sure what you mean. If I master songs for clients? Yes, mix and mastering is my job 😄 not RUclips
