That transient shaper you put on completely transformed the track! I've just recently been getting into using transient sharpers a lot, and it's crazy what they can do, especially for drums, when you apply limiting after! Even the top end of the vocals pop out a bit more when you turn it on from off, it's insane.
imagine living in a time where content like this lives free on the internet
Imagine living in a time where content like this was no longer free...
@@HollerAtcherBoi i guess, but from where im sitting, it could be even worst ;) glad with what we get, if you want more go get it!
Im so happy that found this channel. Thanks Dav.
Best mixing and mastering channel I’ve ever come across... and I’ve gone deep down the rabbit hole.
100% agree
So subtle yet so effective
12:35 engaging super focus. Great Tips!
Revisiting this video today , after 2 years, great lesson!!! Thank you Mr.david, Oh Captain, My Captain!!!!!
Thanks Dave awesome class!!!!
I'm a simple man.....I see Mr Mixbus, I click, I learn, I like :)
It’s really as simple as that.
Every time David opens his mouth I learn something new. It's just ... insane.
You kick some serious ass, I've been smiling the entire video, you're an amazing teacher on top of an incredible engineer
Thank you!!
Thanks for mastering our track and the pointers!
Any time!
Guys, pay attention that he finds the problems in a surgical way but applies the solutions in a subtle way. This is my key take away from this video.
Thank you man!
Looking huge brotha. Love the Mastering content
Awesome video. I think it’s amazing how much you care about those of us that learn so much from you. You don’t get free game like this from everybody. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Nothing in life is for free, but Mixbus is paying for it. Amazing, right?
sei uno grande bro! mad skills
Really nice video. I would never thought such gentle settings could cut the guitar strumming problem. Good job!
A Meticulous, Master Class, in Mastering!! David, ur an instructor who Truly Educates! I feel like I’m in a Music Dojo…Thank U Sensei🙏
🙏🤘
Thank you very much for your advice, you are really one of the best I have seen. thanks man
Thank you so much David for teaching us these techniques, learning a lot from you 🤘
Dude the spot problems method of teaching on this video was very informative, thanks for making these expositions clear and professional while keeping it fun and interesting.
Better and better every video, wow! Thank you David
Bedankt
Thank you so much for the continuous support! Much appreaciated Emiel!
@@mixbustv No problem 😉, David! Happy to support you. I am so happy that I found your channel a while ago! It helps me improve in many aspects of the music business. That’s important for me. I just closed my DAW. Worked on my project. Still in the studio and now I’m gonna take a nice breath of fresh air outside. After that, probably watching part 2 on your channel! 🙏👏👍
very nice man....thansk for all the knowledge....greatings from Brasil!
Me: Mixbus Dave looks like a hero on 2021
MixbusTV: We are heroes and villians, but heroes for the most part. Not since 2021, since day 1
5:30 1-First thing I would arrange absolutely is reducing a very loud resonant frequency around 1380 hz coming from the guitar with dynamic eq. Piercing and harmonically off.
2-Low mid a bit messy around 250 hz with too much instruments using a bit too much of that space.
your mixing & master really interesting, thank you! big LIKE
Holy shit, that Punctuate plugin from Newfangled Audio really hyped up the mix in a very pleasant way!
Wow, it is true what they say, if you think you can, watch this guy. You rock David!
wow i bought all these expensive plugins when i first started mixing 6 months ago and i didnt even know what half them do or the accurate way of using them especially the ozone's wow great teacher
David you’re a master 👑 what a sound 🙌
Man! I love your channel! Thanks for sharing with us!
THAT is why I decided to MIX my tracks, as better as I can, BUT ALWAYS send it over for MASTERING.
I hope people understand how priceless something like this is, you could explain quantum physics to rocks
Thank you very much, i am starting to produce myself and this channel has been an amazing learning experience... Regards from Spain, you Rock dude!
Very nice. Thank you for this info. Looking forward to seeing part 2.
You're adding a ton of value. More blessings on the way for you.
I keep coming to this channel over and over. Thanx Dave
Man your studio evolves by the day congrats for doing so well!
🙏🙏
Nice gains my guy
You’re getting bigger with every video💪💪
Thanks for the video also
Cheers, David
That was great, thanks!
Great material you have absolute knowledge and I truly respect that
SUPER USEFUL TUTORIAL.
Saved for later, but will definetely watch. Your take on 'crest value' was a gamechanger on my production. Thanks a lot!
Thanks. This is very in depth.
1. There's a kind of lagging low end - particularly noticeable at the end of every 8 bars. I often hear this phenomena on night club sound systems when 18 inch subs are used. When you go to a semi-isolated area in the night club (eg the bathroom) you can really hear this phenomena in lots of tunes. In the night club it adds vibe to the envirionment, but the musician in me is kind of disconcerted by it - even though it lifts the vibe in the nightclub.
2. There's a clicking sound from the acoustic guitar strings. I personally like it, but it could be toned down a little bit.
I think that's what you're talking about. Otherwise I have no idea what the problems are.
ive also noticed this phenomenon with the low end, really weird.
Yeah that’s clicking sound is annoying af
These Weiss plugs looks amazing.
Great job David
Excellent Video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
thank you for all the information you share, you have no ideia how you help new people to keep believing that it's possible to follow our dreams. Today all youtube channels just post the "drake mastering chain" , "travis scott vocal chain" etc and shit. Bunch of presets with NO information or reason for using them. And you talk about when not to use a lot of stuff, why to use , why not to use, keep doing this long form videos bro with your opinions and everything. 100% better than any other 2minute tips and tricks clickBait channels.
Happy to help!
Top class here! Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge!
Best on the market!
Thanks David!!!
Badass man. Sounds really nice. I guessed right on that acoustic guitar pick attack. 🤘
This is fantastic-- thank you
I'm sure you could compress audio by your bare hands! Ripped!
hahahah..
xD
Lol 😂😂😂
You help me so much every time 🙌
I am greatly considering your mastering course later down in the year. Thanks a million for this💯💥
You are the GOAT!
Incredibly amazing!!!
Do you had the chance to try the capi gear sumbus?
Amazing, as always!
IK this is an old vid, but because you show that processing that picks the guitar or vocals or drums etc and can focus the processing on the specific harmonic of that instrument, I wanted to ask. Have you seen Steinberg's new Spectral layers extension for Cubase, where you can load in a mix and ask it to separate out layers of the complete printed 2 track mix? You can peel of the vocals from a finished mix file like a hot knife cutting through butter, it's crazy. IDK how well it works in all situations, but seems to work really well compared to older solutions for doing this kind of processing. I wondered if you have seen it or used it what you make of it?
Thank you.!
This was amazing! And love the shirt 🤩
Very useful content, thank you. Especially the last part.
Love vids like this. Thanks
Very interesting workflow, thanks for sharing it
absolutely amazing !!! love your listening abilities to details.
Nice tips as always !
you are so damn good at what you do brotha.
🙏🤘
The master at work
Seriously good stuff!
Very good! Do I loose browny points for using suites like T-racks?
If there was only one way to do things right, or one tool, everyone would be a great engineer, use what you have, use what you like and what works for you
@@mixbustv Thanks bro👌
thank you
Awesome stuff! Thank you so much David!
Very impressive and detailed work. I realize how much at a prehistoric age I am with mastering versus your methodology! 😂 Awesome improvement, you're the king! Thanks for your time as always! 🎼🃏🎶🎵😎🤘🙏😁
Exactly what I needed to see. But I will still send my tracks to professionals to get done. Maybe do experiments myself
Great teacher. You know something is good when you see this man using it.
Picked up that the transients were a bit too wild (didn't figure out it was the acoustique guitar yet, snare was bothering me) and picked up that the vocal is getting buried. Didn't pick up that the kick needs to be tightened up - but I agree that it sounds better with what you've done. You can hear that on 30 Buck Speakers in a not-optimized living-room btw. Did I ever fix such issues in mastering-stage? No, I usually revisit the mix. I guess that's one of the reasons it's hard to become a better "mastering-engineer" if you mostly work with mixes where you also have the full mix available.. you simply don't need to fix it in post. Also the problems I (have) am focussing on are usually a bit more relevant than the low-end fix you performed. But the transient-problems and finding the sweetspot for the vocals is something I am familiar with. Which tells me real-life-mixes are better than mine, but not CRAZY better.. this mix had serious problems.
I heard the high hat and symbol was right down the middle where the vocal was. Maybe not a problem? Sounded weird to me right in the middle fighting with vocal.
My guess is the snare's compression is funky and jumps out the mix way too much and muddiness in the guitars? (listening on TV so might totally miss something wrong in the low end).
Incredible video!
thanks man!!! liekd a lot what you doing! :)
Kinda scarey looking, but your your vision is fabulous. Great to have learned from your videos!
Kind of? Hey, I'm totally scary looking 😄🤘🙏
@@mixbustv 😄✌️
yeah i cant hear any of these issues yet i have a lot of work to do
Yikes, holy transient, Batman, punctuate is something I need to look into. I hadn't seen it reviewed or used until now. Thanks!
Great video! Greetings from Slovakia! :)
I'm listening to this mix and master on a pair of $50 headphones thinking that I'm hearing what you're pointing out lol
great vid thanks - I think personally I'd use spectral edits to tame those guitar clicks.
mastering with ozone presets? Wow, I would even blush, -6 LUFS on a mellow track? wow, great work!
Good info ,, like what you did w the vocal
Man i enjoyed the class but i disagree with the high end problem,i think in this case the guy who did the mix was intresting in this perc moviment pumping into the mix,but this cut in the lows was precise, thank you man!!!!
Cool song and tips! I want this song!
Kill Cody I'm leaving, should be up on Spotify in few days, I know you can presave already
@@mixbustv cool!!)) thx!!)) like nirvana spirit!
Hi David, great video again ! I met an engineer telling me that stem mastering can be even more detailled as regular mastering. What is the difference between stem mastering and regular mastering, can you show us how to export stems in a proper manner, including the busses etc... in order to go to another studio for mastering.
Stem mastering is basically letting someone else half mixing your song, is that what you want? It's not better, it's something else. For the most part is used by those who can't afford a full mix, but they want more than just mastering, this is at least why my stem mastering clients do that. Ideally, stem mastering shouldn't be needed, because it means your mix has so much to be fixed that you can't really do it with regular mastering, this sometimes happens, mix can't be reopened and you have the stems. But it should not be a go-to really unless you do it for the 1st reason
@@mixbustv Thanks David clear to me, this is more a mix-related issue as I understand it, when the mix is in good condition, you do not need stem mastering, regular mastering will do the job for the final release from that point on. Ok, looking forward to more content from your channel. Greetings from Belgium.
This Is an awesome tutorial ,, , God bless you 🙏 subscribed
thank you David
