    I love all the new features they added, and it does mostly still keep that minimalist aesthetic. The lower battery life is a bummer, but USB C is a really nice addition.
    I have a couple bikes and wanted to be able to switch between my original Moto and the new Moto II - BUT this is not easy for two reasons. First, the app only allows you to have one Moto paired at a time; unpairing and repairing isn't exactly hard, but it is a minor pain. Second, the mounts... they sell an insert adapter to allow you to use the Moto II on an OG Moto mount, but the adapter attaches to the mount, not the Moto - so it means unscrewing, removing, reattaching, etc. every time you want to switch. Again, not exactly hard, but a minor pain, and enough that I'll probably just sell the original. I also found that the universal mount has some little security points on the clips where the elastic straps fit in. The good news is, they are probably deliberately there to help keep the straps better secured. The bad news is, they're really tight, and I snapped a band trying to fit it in.

    • @ridebeeline
      @ridebeeline Месяц назад +3

      Hey, we are close to launching a new feature which will allow you to connect multiple devices at once, meaning you wont have to unpair repair etc. As for the security tabs on the universal mount, your right, they are intentionally tight, this is designed like this so that when your mounting it the bands wont fly off if you let go. Hope this helps!

    My main gripe is the route creation. Fun is just a less direct route to the nearest dual carriageway. It would be good to be able to cycle through various Fun routes until you find one you like the look of.

    • @ridebeeline
      @ridebeeline Месяц назад +1

      Nice idea! We'll pass that on to our routing team!

    •  Месяц назад

      @@ridebeeline My biggest gripe with the route creation is that you cannot modify routes on the fly by adding waypoints. Like most of the time I will know where I am gonna end up but not the way there, especially if on a roadtrip so I will start the day with a goal try to put in a fun route. But if i find the road i picked was boring or simply find something on the way I want to visit there is no way to just add a new waypoint without cancelling the whole route which is incredibly inconvenient.

    • @scottamolinari
      @scottamolinari Месяц назад

      I believed they fixed that in a newer version of the software/ app. Now, if you saved the route (which you should always do, before you start riding it), you can easily stop the one you are riding and go to the route again and add whatever waypoints you want to it and restart the route navigation. It will ask you if you want to start from where you are at and you press yes and off you go.

      @@ridebeeline Is there a discount offer for version 1 users to upgrade?

    • @scottamolinari
      @scottamolinari Месяц назад +1

      You can add distance to a fun route now. DId you see that newer feature? So, fun will still be fairly direct. If you go to "generate", and add KMs, it will cycle through some optional routes and depending on how much farther you wish to ride, it will offer you a different route. Pretty cool.
      Also, if you select "avoid highways" under Options-> Route preferences, you normally would avoid getting on dual carriageways.

    Looks amazing, they addressed the issues I had with my Beeline, one thing that just scares me is that USB-C at the bottom being open to the elements, not sure what it will look like after a year of use. I had the premium mount and after 6 months of use, pitting was starting to appear on the aluminium, not the best finish the did. But that just my thoughts

That's my biggest issue with the first model (other than the expensive buy in price that we have in the States). I believe that this was originally made for bicycling and then adapted for motorcycles. I bought the beeline moto 3 yrs ago because my cell service for Waze and Google maps would continually lose the cell signal when I was riding trails and even in downtown city driving. But because the Beeline uses the GPS signal on your cell, it is always reliable. But anyone who is using a beeline on the interstate is crazy, since you need precise Information on when to start getting ready to exit.

    I’ve been rocking my BeeLine 2 metal for a couple of weeks now. It works so well and its simplicity is what makes it standout. The 1 was pretty good but this 2 is hands down a worthwhile upgrade. BUT, I hate the subscription model (no it’s not required) but for simple turn by turn audio cues, charging for that is pretty lame IMO. There’s a bit more than comes with the sub but I don’t think it’s cool to pass along that feature set cost to the customer.

      @@vishnunair2823 It was for me as well. I got lost and re-re-directed many times to routes/roads that didn't exist and gave conflicting turns that would have me back track multiple times in the same area. The Beeline app map was really finicky and would not be able to route to many common locations unlike Google or Waze that worked fine in Thailand. I ditched the Beeline and had to use my phone's nav but the phone would quickly overheat and shut down. So my last effort was to install a bulky all-weather tablet with DMD2 and use it as a nav system. Wanting to like this product, let's see if the Beeline 2 got this improved.

    How good is the "fun" routing? Ive tried a few motorcycle specific navigation apps explicity for their 'twisty' route options (calimoto, tom tom go ride, tom tom amigo, waze) and they all take you on horrific roads for bikes, I'm talking single track national speed limits full of gravel and holes and purposely routing you through towns because the roads are 'curvy' whilst avoiding fast single carriageway A roads with nice bends.

    My biggest issue with the first generation was the speed of the direction updates, or the lack there-of. More often than not, directions indicating an upcoming turn would not display on the Beeline until I was halfway through an intersection, negating any usefulness of the directional indication and more often than not causing me to turn around. This increasingly caused somewhat dangerous confusion on my rides. Yes, how dare he try to earn a living from a channel he's been building for years. He disclosed at the beginning that Beeline is a channel sponsor. So what if this video is an ad, I'd rather watch this informed opinion ad than the lifestyle tripe manufacturers' ads.
      I expect on your channel, everything is unbiased and free but we're not all that perfect.

      @@LiviuXSA I just save a weblink for RUclips to my phone's home screen and run it through an ad-block browser. Haven't seen a RUclips ad for years. 😉

    Nah, it's a bit pricey for me. I can get an Android Auto device for way less.
