Deadpool (2016) is just a wonderful X-Men movie

  • True Believers, it feels like just yesterday we were treated to the highest grossing R rated film of its time in 2016’s Deadpool. And in the 8 years since, the franchise has still not lost its steam with this years Deadpool and Wolverine set to conclude the series as it stands in the Fox universe, and plants our 4th wall breaking bad boy into the MCU. I’m sure it’ll go fine…
    But today, my friends we take a nostalgic look back at the first installment in this soon-to-be trilogy and see if in a world of shared universes and studio crossovers, this movie still has the juice that made it one of the biggest hits on film history. Let’s go!
    So, 2016’s Deadpool is the film adaptation of the iconic marvel anti-hero. After being played by Ryan Reynolds in that despicable 2009 Wolverine film- the character was all but butchered in the loose adaptation. Unfortunately this was just one of many downfalls for this film- and it left fans upset, pissed off, insulted and borderline offended by this awful attempt to do the character in live action.
    Cut to 2012 or 2013 and there’s a mysterious leak online of some test footage for a Deadpool solo movie which included 3D renderings of the scene and Reynolds doing original voice material. This led to the fandom uniting in our outcry for a feature length film. And sure enough, just a few years later we got it.
    Deadpool follows the story of Wade Wilson, an ex-military assassin now living low and working as a freelance enforcer. When Wade is diagnosed with terminal cancer in his liver, lungs, prostate and back- he seeks the help from a secret organization who claims to be able to make him immortal. This of course backfires immediately and Wade is nearly killed but given the immortality he was promised. And just like that, Deadpool is born.

    Colossus: You will come talk with Professor Xavier.
    Deadpool: McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines can get so confusing.

    I love Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds was born to play the Merc With The Mouth. Colossus was also fun to watch in these films.

    What I like about the X-Men movies is their sense of individuality and their ability to think outside the box
    Most MCU movies look the same, and they almost never take risks

    As a filmmaker, I feel the first one was really elevated by Ryan Reynolds' star turn as the title character. In the second one, the time travel renders the conceit of Wade learning to feel like he can be a father with a vibe that's too haptically sweet. That aside, the excitement (or potential) of the action feels hampered by the claustrophobic settings and spaces. And the kid, unto himself, isn't all that interesting, mainly existing as a symptom of the system that hurt him. But it is still amusing; there are some really clever jokes therein.

  • @Cazz8203
    @Cazz8203 3 дня назад +2

    @4:02 I still don't understand how anyone can defend that scene. Neither TJ Miller or Ryan was funny, and the jokes were just flat out lame. And to top it off, Deadpool's face isn't all that bad looking. He just looks like someone that had his face burnt. It's nothing grotesque. If they would have leaned into the horrifying look from the comics, maybe these jokes in all 3 movies could work, but he really doesn't look that bad.

    Reynolds IS deadpool. And thats the real secret of his success. He managed to make the character so inextricably tied to him that he put the studio over the barrel for once.
    The leaked footage was a risk, but he knew the potential.
    At this point i think wed all agree that noone else is ever going to be DP.
    And hes used that to his advantage when dealing with the suits.
    I cant even imagine the mess the rat would have made if it had been a "normal" actor in the role when they got their hands on it.

    8/10. Reynolds does it perfectly, like nobody else could. This next film is the make or break, in my opinion. If the MCU fucks it up, like many expect, because…Disney, then it’s just par for the corporate course.

    In anticipation for the new movie I just saw this one and it's as good as the first time. We are all afraid of what's gonna happen with him in the MCU, I liked the superhero movies that worked without the envolvement of Disney like the original Spiderman, Fantastic Four, XMEN and of couse Deadpool 1 and 2

    I also really like Deadpool is the hero? Villain? that keeps his mask on,I know that's probably only done because Deadpool is scarred underneath and you wouldn't really wanna show that off in the middle of an action scene even if it is Ryan Reynolds but you get my point

    Yeah no one else could bring that same energy of Deadpool to live action the way Ryan Reynolds does, and I am eagerly waiting for Deadpool and Wolverine. I do still enjoy this movie, but I think the first sequel is better, not to say the first Deadpool is bad, I just thought the second improved on the character and the (complicated) universe that Deadpool lives in

    @7:00 why doesn't collosus have the ability to change back and forth from human looking to his mutant form? Like he gets into a cab and more than likely, those shocks should have busted, but they just get severely stressed, and if he would have morphed to his human looking form, wouldn't it have been easier for the car? I like the Deadpool movies, and collosus did finally look like he should have all along, as well as juggernaut....but like the forced F bombs, there's still alot that seems off, and makes these films no where near as perfect as everyone makes them out to be

      It's ironic that people this stupid haven't realised that X-Men was the first 'woke' superhero team since 1963 and Marvel being inclusive is not a 'Disney thing'...these monosylabic reductions on the behalf of simpletons have become rather tiresome.

    • @JacobPaul-ix7oc
      @JacobPaul-ix7oc 3 дня назад

      @@Beautyaddixion Do you really want the answer to that?
      "Woke" is atheistic, Liberal Marxist propaganda.
      Step one of the "Four Steps for Communist Ideological Subversion". - Former KGB Propaganda Agent Yuri Bezmenov, 1985
      Demoralization - this is a process which can take about 15-30 years to perform (a generation). *During this stage, the moral fibre and integrity of the country is put into question, thereby creating doubt in the minds of the people. To do so, manipulation of the media and academia is required to influence young people.* As the younger generation embraces new values, such as Marxism and Leninism, the older generation slowly loses control simply through attrition. *Again, true facts no longer matter during this stage, but rather creating perceptions are of paramount importance.*
      ---Example: If you do not like or want to see a female lead movie or tv show, the Liberal MSM and Social Media pundits will label you as being "sexist and bigoted". If the movie or tv show features homosexual characters, they also claim "homophobia" as a derogatory term against detractors. It doesn't matter if detractors deride the movie or show because it is poorly written, directed, looks visually terrible, has bad acting/wooden dialogue or breaks established lore in an existing IP. If you don't like it, you are a bigoted fascist.
      Communism and Religion
      Abolished - all religious and metaphysics is rejected. Engels and Lenin agreed that religion was a drug or “spiritual booze” and must be combated. *To them, atheism put into practice meant a “forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions.”*
      ---Example: Disney's push over the years to make you question if evil characters are really evil, or if good characters are really the good guys. Most often they paint straight, white men as evil and women or non-white people as oppressed victims who were forced to do bad things in retaliation. Basically, they want you to believe that evil can be good, and good can be evil. It goes without saying that atheism and Judeo Christian morals, values and ethics are fundamentally opposed to each other, and the US/West is largely founded on Judeo Christian teachings. This is why Liberals demonize anyone who is against LGBTQ as being "homophobic, transphobic, bigoted, fascist". In essence, they have created new "sins" to judge their enemies by.
      Eliminating American exceptionalism, fundamental change of national identity, *structural deconstruction of foundational principles, elimination of religion. Embedding a new societal design upon the psyche of generations through ideological academia, peer pressure by elites upon academics and society to convince that prior values were inherently flawed, racist, prejudiced etc.* National identity is diluted with aspersions toward historical references. National History is re-written, re-defined, and molded to fit the new intended behavioral model and create the new values.
      Art is history. This is why Hollywood goes "woke" (promotes atheistic, Liberal Marxist ideologies) with established IP. They want to force people to accept their values, rewriting the past to fit their ideological narrative.
