Do you have cataracts? Have you considered surgery?

    • @emilyjohnson1717
      @emilyjohnson1717 Год назад +1

When I was 25 I had to have cataracts removed from my left eye!
I had had cortical cataracts my whole life, but it was a shock to both me and the doctor that it started impairing my vision so young. I really wish my doctor had communicated more about the different lens types and the different tests and measurements they were doing.
I hope you do a video about the recovery! I know as surgery goes it's a very easy recovery, but it was still a very disorienting time. I was exhausted for days after (it might be an easy surgery, but the body still has to send a lot of energy to heal, I guess). It was very weird and extremely overstimulating to suddenly have more light coming through, and no one had warned me about dry eye (nor did my doctor talk about it in the post-op visit!), so I was worried when for long after the recovery was supposed to be complete, my eyes still hurt and blurred.

Very helpful! I have "baby cataracts," according to my eye doc. She said I'll know it when I need the surgery. Kind of scary, but I've assisted my mom and some neighbors with their drops afterward, so I know a little about post-op care. Thanks for this!

    Hi Dr. Rupa,
    As always, Excellent and informative!
I was at -8 Diopters. I could only HOPE.
I requested "near vision", and expected 20/60 FOR FAR.
    I got what I requested.
As an EE, I wanted to see if I could go from measurement -0.75 D, to +0.25 Diopters.
That is from 20/50 to 20/20, on my Snellen.
It took me two years to do it.
So this was my Electrical Engineering experience.
I say this in support of your prevention efforts with and for your own children.
Helping your own children IS THE ONLY TECHNICAL METHOD THAT WILL EVER "WORK"!!
    Call me IMPRESSED!

Excellent information. It seems like cataract surgery continues to make improvements. I had this surgery 2 1/2 years ago, and although I had a wonderful doctor, the office was a mess! Wish I had seen a video like this back then! 🌸🌸🌸

Cataract surgery is in my near future and I am very interested in the premium lens that you mentioned. I’m on the cusp of having glaucoma and I have a wrinkle on the top layer of my retinas, the left one worse than the right. Will this disqualify me from the premium lens?
Thank you for this very important and informative content. It’s so helpful to those of us who are going to be having this type of surgery.

I like this. I’m about to have Salzman’s‘s nodules removed along with some scar tissue and calcium deposits off of my right cornea in about two weeks and will have some propofol sedation through an IV to help me be real calm. Anxiety is gone. Deeply relaxed and sleepy and in La La Land and not remembering a lot of what happened. It will pretty much feel like I’ve gone to sleep, but in reality I’m still sort of awake. And it’s done by, a corneal surgeon for me. And I’m not as worried anymore because knowing that you won’t remember a lot of what happened and your awareness being pretty reduced will make it seem like a few moments go by and it’s over. I’ve had cataract surgery before when I was a lot younger when I was a kid and that went well. But I had a general anesthetic, but this cornea surgery I would call it IV or twilight sedation like when you get your wisdom teeth out.

Thank you so much for your wonderful videos! I had cataract surgery in both eyes at a relatively “young” age. I have Sjögren’s syndrome and 3 ophthalmologists have told me that needing cataract surgery before most folks is one of the hallmarks of the disease because SS can do a number on your eyes and other body parts. Any chance you could discuss sjogrens and it’s affects on eyes? Good eyedrops to try to combat the insane, painful dry eyes? Thanks again!

Good morning Dr, why when I blow my nose, I can blow a bubble out of the little tear duct in the corner of my eye and shot fluid from it when I sneeze?
I also have a question, regarding moles (purple pigmentation) in my eyes
I would love to see new videos on both of those topics 🙏🏾🤞🏾🙌🏾

      Hope this helps!

I'm told from my last visit to the death-tomitrist that glasses will not improve my vision any more and that I need cataract surgery. I'm wearing prescription glasses right now and one eye sees just fine while the other is kinda blurry. Anyway, I don't know who to believe is telling me the truth. When I got the glasses 6 months ago I was told I have some vision problem with the cataract in one eye and none in the other. 2 weeks ago I am told by a different eye doctor I have cataracts in both eyes and that glasses will not improve my vision. This is why I hate doctors. I guess my only recourse is to find another eye doctor and get a 3rd opinion... it's like watching a weather channel... nobody can get it right with all the years of schooling.
