Played the demo and the biggest challenge was the input lag. The characters felt sluggish and the frame rate was slow and would skip every once in a while. It’s gotta be smooth and snappy like the original was over 30 years ago! 😅wtf
It about time we have a life bar something they took from the sega game in Japan contra hardcorps now u get 4 hits before u lose a life the sega from the 90's is still the best contra game of all times this this look like it be good game to past the time I hope this would a lead to a remake of hardcorps soon
It kind of makes it too easy. Especially given how many lives you have, and infnite continues/generous checkpoints. Think I'll stick to the classic mode with single hits. Contra 3 was the peak of the series IMO
@@jermainewright1757 it’s not an excuse about the difficulty of the game. It’s a fact about the performance making it harder to play and control. Thanks for your time.
@@jermainewright1757 All I said was that the framerate wasn't good, no comparison was made. And it is NOT 30fps, it targets it but it has loads of drops and stutters which is unacceptable for a 2D Run and gun game on any platform. The switch is certainly powerful enough to run a game like this at a stable framerate which is why it's such a shame that WayForward has apparently failed to properly optimize this game for it.
just played this on the Switch, the bad frame rate along with input lag kinda makes me worried for the full game. I know i trust WayForward but this is not a good first impression.
@@misterlexx2721Why are you on every Contra video shilling the Switch version? Having a nice TV doesn't fix the inputs at all. The Switch version is disappointing, especially if you look at Prince of Persia The Lost Crown and compare it to this. Go play another version first before you say the Switch version is good. It's not.
@@NkdSnk8 I know they didn't develop the game; but in this case it was very much a diliberate "Konami" publisher decision. One example with the Cowabubga collection I asked the devs if there were other featuers to be added to the collection; such as better screen size and filter options; after the last update. The devs responded that "At this point it is in Konami's hands and decion to make, as they have something planned for later." It has been over a year since the last update and Konami hasn't released any further updates to the Cowabunga Collection. I am sure in this new Contra's case ( as well as the MGS Collection); Konami made diliberate decions to not have those games run at 60fps on the Switch and I think it has to do with the next gen Switch in some way.
Just played the demo on Switch. Not happy with the controls at all, particularly when jumping up the cliff faces, there is lag and slow response, not fluid at all. The game itself is reasonable but doesn't have the finesse and charm, a Japanese studio would provide. I will still buy the game, though I hope Way forward will support the game and not abandon it, definitely still needs some tweaks. Not sure if this is a issue with the Switch port, has anybody played the Xbox, PS5, PC versions?
Agree. Weird that Contra 4 on DS years ago was so perfect control and gameplay-wise, which also developed by Wayforward. This one is nowhere near responsive, it feels so sluggish with the big latency. Also only 30fps on PS4? With this level of graphics? I was reallt looking forward to buy this, but if this is how the full game will run/control, then i'm changing my mind.

Are you playing the switch version? I heard it had some technical issues. I played the steam version and it runs fine for me
there is some kind of input lag when you jump. Frame rate is below 30fps, not good.
It’s a bummer it doesn’t run very well. Hopefully a patch can fix it. I really wanted this on switch. Looks like a Steam Deck purchase for now.

No it's on all the consoles and PC.

Looking foward to play it
I’m still in the fence for this one. I have contra collection on my switch and a metal slug game.
Same. Plus, that price line for a digital only, mid Contra at best? I'll stick to Contra 3 on my collection
March has this, battlefront collection, wwe, so many
Was the framerate rock solid?
I played on my Steam Deck first and then Switch. I was disappointed in the Switch. Noticeable drops. Actually made the game harder to play.

Yeah unfortunately the framerate isn't good on Switch at all.

I just don't like how slow this feels. Where's the buttery smooth Contra controls from the OG titles? I'll buy it when they fix the movement.
That gameplay though 😭

Maybe your micro sd card. It doesn't stutter here.

This game better have more than 6 or 7 stages, I hated that about the old Contra games, they are way too short.
Eight stages.

No reason why this runs at 30fps other than its Konami.
Konami didn't make it. They don't have developers anymore.
