    My homemade Sweet and Spicy Pickles. These pickles are so easy to make and don’t have all the carbs or dyes some store-bought pickles have. Plus, I think they make a great little crunchy snack.

    Ingredients:
    2 16-ounce jars amzn.to/2SOgwo5
    2 lbs. Persian cucumbers
    1 onion, sliced
    2 Fresno peppers, sliced
    1/4 cup kosher salt amzn.to/37vC9iD
    sugar substitute = 2 cups sugar amzn.to/2hReroU
    3 cups white vinegar amzn.to/38wzFBP
    1 1/2 Tbs mustard seeds amzn.to/2STqLrA
    2 Tbs dill seeds amzn.to/2UQi57T
    1 tsp ground turmeric amzn.to/3228RXx

    UPDATE!! - To add extra zing and spice, add 1 Tbs of red pepper flakes to the brine. I find boiling the peppers in the brine helps to spice things up!

    So, i made a batch big enough to fill three jars. Came out incredible. I’m halfway through the first jar, Mom comes to visit, finishes off that jar and goes back home with the other two. Gotta make more, now. Thanks for the amazing recipe!!

    OH My I love this my hubby will love this he is no sugar and he loves the hot and spicy ones but they are not low carb so he splurges and eats them he will love these as will I Thank you for this recipe I am on my way to town to get ingredients!!

    These pickles are AMAZING - thanks Papa G! I had almost all of the ingredients too. Didn't have another grocery trip planned so I used jalapeno instead (glad you mentioned that would work), had no onions so I went with some dried minced onion, and instead of mustard seeds I used POWDERED mustard, LOL! I couldn't believe even with all those subs this came out SO great. Even better after sitting in the fridge overnight. Thanks again!

    Finally getting my BBP's made today, I can't wait to try them I had to use jalapeno peppers, Kroger or Walmart didn't have Fresno peppers I also sliced in a bell pepper.

    Working on a batch now! Adding a few extra veggies like radishes, some small lemon cucumbers and small bush cucumbers and banana peppers drom my garden. I can't wait!!!!

    Growing up, we used to make B&B pickles from our garden cukes. Anyone remember snake/tongue pickles??😝 Haha. Great to know I can make them still, but in a low carb fashion.

    Papa G, it's like you read my keto thoughts. I just threw out a jar of store bread and butter pickles because it had 8gm of carbs per serving. They were a spicy maple flavored and it bummed me out because they were delicious and I absolutely love bread and butter pickles. Then bada-bing, I pull up YT and you've posted this. The force is strong with you my friend. You could sell those!

    I made this pickles and they are to die for. thank you Papa G's. Can I pickpe yellow beans with the same recipe? and if yes, do I need to boil the beans first?

    Important tip: Don’t let your vegetables and the hot brine sit in a plastic (Tupperware) bowl to cool. Turmeric will stain the plastic! I found out the hard way! 🤪 A glass bowl is the way to go! And by the way...these pickles taste great!!

    ok dumb question being put in jars do they have to be boiled and sanitized, before putting the pickles in ?

      These are not like pickles that are "canned". That process requires bigger pots and more time. Canned pickles can sit on the shelf for years. These are done simple and easy and should last 5 months if stored in the refrigerator (if they can last that long...lol).

      Hi Blinki. It's a Stevia/Erythritol blend. A sugar substitute.
