Still brings back a whirlwind of emotion for me 20 years later...local rock music from my young adult life when I had my whole life ahead of me, and nothing but choices to make.
I was playing a gig where the special guest was Alan Doyle from Great Big Sea. He was with a guitar player who looked familiar to me and I couldn't place him. Finally it clicked, he was the guitar player, Corey Tetford in Crush and I went running over to him to tell him that I just loved this tune. He was really gracious and appreciated me remembering his band, typical friendly guy from the East Coast.
Yeah they are. One of the very last shows they ever played around here was in my town. I remember having strep throat and being told by my doctor to not leave the house what-so-ever. Instead, I walked downtown to see them play. Absolutely amazing job. There's no way I was missing it.
The first time I heard this song was on CBC radio and I immediately went : " Whoa what's that ? " Went down a little bit of a Crush " rabbit hole " after that. Still love the song and have listened to it many times since.
I was walking by the waterfront of Halifax this afternoon, and happened to hear someone singing this in a bar or restaurant, and I started singing along as I walked by.. thinking to myself "how do i know this song?" so naturally i had to go home and search it on youtube! thanks for posting the video, seems like it's the only one there!
I remember when Crush came to play a concert in Stephenville , Crossing.,, and it was pouring down rain, when they started playing this song it stopped, From 2:25 - 2:46 is the moment I fell in love with music! was my favorite memory by far !
First thing I'm doing tomorrow is going to the newfie store in the mall and looking for their cds. I had them when I was younger but they've been misplaced. LOVE these guys!!!
Tetford and Lamb were Kings for a Day... I remember Tetford releasing some solo songs back in the late 1990's. He sings like a bird... I'd like to find those songs..
@GreenPikman if you go to google , and type in youtube to mp3 conversion, the first website should be right, then copy the url from here and put it in, then click convert video and then download, and when it's done it will show up in your itunes. if you change the name in the itunes you wont be able to play it again so leave it the way it is. if you want to put it on a ipod, you have to do it as soon as you add it or it wont work . hope this isnt too confusing and you get it:)
Daniel Doucette They actually just sang this song tonight in Cape Breton with Corey obviously on lead. I completely forgot about this song, but as soon as it started I knew almost every word. Missed this song, and I'm glad I had the chance to hear it live.
Yeah, it's a pretty wicked song. I met them when they came to my town in Nova Scotia. Do you remember the band Wave, by any chance? I've found their two singles, and they're pretty damn rare I guess.
They play at the Lower Deck, Halifax, NS every Saturday night. They won 8 ECMA awards for their two albums. They don't play as Crush, just as Paul Lamb and Cory Tetford.
@x12xaustin Yeah they are from Newfoundland Paul Lamb (one of the members) is actually my cousin also him and Jim Lamb (my uncle) are the founding members of signal hill :) They rock
Look under the name jamieaudit Paul Lamb & Corey Tetford (King for a day) for a day on RUclips and you'll find a live version of this from the Lower Deck. RUclips won't allow me to post the url.
I was wondering if anybody knew where I could get this song? its not on itunes and no sites seem to have it:( if somebody could help me out that would be awesome
Sad that they didn't continue, one of the few newfoundland bands that aren't old Irish tunes or gbs wannabes. Apparently the americans love their songs, i Wonder what Cory is doing now.
Paul and Corey still play almost every week at the Lower Deck in Halifax, NS, Canada. I try to go and see them whenever I get the chance. Sometimes they even play some Crush songs like this one.
good song... the chorus is beyond good..its brilliant ..if anyone knows them..as some of you do we are getting interest in this song from astern Europe ..have these guys..Paul and Corey message me on you tube..this is NOT BULLSHIT
