    My Epsom 5350 still makes me smile even against my LG 4k HDR 55 inch. I still prefer the Epsom .Cost me just under £600 ,yes you can get better but I haven't seen anything apart from projectors costing thousands more I mean £8,000 .
    Colours on the screen really pop and so subtle and as atmosphere . Anyway they are all good in there on way. Thanks for the video.

    Picked up one on black Friday to replace my Sony 1080p sxrd and the difference is 100% more better towards the BENQ HT5550. I love this projector!

    Can someone tell me how would this machine compare to my Barco Cine 9 CRT projector?
    I'm using Boeing simulation grade P19LUG tubes that are getting up around 6,000 hours, slight visible wear on blue and green, nothing visible on red. Razor sharp 1080p across the entire screen.
    I am interested in this model and also a couple of the Optoma 4K models.

      How did you do? I don’t care about highlights. I want good black levels and shadow details. Does putting eco mode help? I use D. Iris in middle position. I love this projector (HU710 is crap) and want to keep it.

    While I don't doubt your reviews of anything at all Phil, yours is the only one where you mention the 5700 to be a pixel-shifter! All other reviews that I have found (and even the BenQ website) say that it is native 4K, which I find very hard to believe at this price point. Shame about the gamma problems too.

    • @avforums
      @avforums  4 года назад +4

      I can't speak for other reviews, or even what reviews you have been looking at. However, my assessment is correct and the BenQ uses a shift and flash technique which trick the eyes and brain into seeing 8.3m pixels, even though those are never on the screen at the same time. The CTA call this true 4K, but it technically isn't. If you take a look at the Texas Instruments website for their 4K chips, they explain the technology used. All 4K DLPs at this market level use the same TI chipsets. As you rightly point out, there is no way you are going to get a 4K native projector at this price point and only Sony and JVC currently offer true native 4K projectors in the consumer market at many times the price of this BenQ (JVC used their own version of the pixel shift, called e-shift for many years before switching to true native 4K chips recently). With that said, the technology used in the BenQ is very clever and it is difficult to tell the difference from normal viewing distances. Thanks for your feedback.

      @smuglertns4390 4 года назад +2

      I have an epson tw9400 it has motorized lens shift zoom and focus,no more reaching up to pj to adjust and is far brighter than this model which is what you need for hdr.

      8k gaming.
      And also, 8k is better than 4k, people just try and make out like their 4k equipment is the best.
      People used to say the exact same thing about 4k not being worth it and 1080p is fine. People just can't handle it
