Fantastic review. The best I have seen on youtube for this projector. You showed perfectly the difference with the black levels on the review. . thanks
The BenQ W5800 is a stellar choice for home theater enthusiasts seeking top-notch visual performance. With its 4K UHD resolution and HDR10 compatibility, it delivers sharp, vibrant, and lifelike images. The high brightness of 2,200 ANSI lumens ensures stunning clarity even in moderately lit rooms. Its cinematic color accuracy, powered by BenQ's DCI-P3 wide color gamut, enhances the viewing experience by reproducing true-to-life colors. The projector also features lens shift and a 1.6x zoom, making installation flexible and hassle-free. It’s ideal for those who demand premium image quality for movies, gaming, or sports. While the fan noise is minimal, the unit itself feels sturdy and well-built. Overall, the BenQ W5800 is a solid investment for creating a truly immersive cinematic experience at home.
Are you still planning on releasing the Valerion Pro 2 review? As someone who sold their JVC NP5 in anticipation of the Pro 2, I'm curious to hear your thoughts, as well as how it compares to the W5800. Thanks again!
I actually sold my BenQ v7050i for a JVC RS1000. At my viewing distance you can tell the smaller pixels on the JVC but the BENQ is a single panel display so it looked very sharp. But I just love the contrast and black levels of the JVC. But I have a soft spot in my heart for Benq DLP projectors.
Nice hard to overlook but with the mixed content I watch in the theater, the w5800 won out. Dark movies like Batman, A Quiet Place, etc it's definitely a vast difference in favor of the jvc
Try the new Valarian pro max laser projector. DLP projector. 3000 lumens bright and 16,000 to 1 contrast. It's not true 4k, but it's sharper than JVC. Best black levels to date on a DLP.
Thanks for the excellent video , the 5800 projector looks really interesting , the problem for me is I have never seen a single chip DLP projector where I didn't see rainbow effect. I understand its a genetic thing , a certain proportion of people are much more sensitive to flicker and I am one of them. So I have to stick with 3 chip projectors.
Thank you for answering back my other comment. I actually thought the BenQ W5,800 was BenQ first Native 4K projector. BenQ LK970 uses a 0.66 DLP chip which is a Native 2K then pixel shifts it up to 4K image. The newer pixel shifters seem to be much better than the older. My Epson 6050 UB pixel shifter was not that great. When I bought my BenQ LK 970 I saw a great difference in picture quality over the Epson 6050UB especially if you were watching a 4K movie.
Thanks I did ask why the 0.47 DMD was used and I should have put a little disclaimer in the video but that information came directly from them when the question was asked as I was sure it would be on the top of people's minds. But seeing side by side with a true native 4K projector with rather high lens quality as well. Nor could others in the room, and oddly the w 5800 was sharper. 🤔🤷🏽
I bought this projector 2 weeks ago on EBay as a refurbished item. I paid only $3,699 plus tax. I have to admit I was a little skeptical because it only had 2,600 Lumens and used the smaller .47 chip for pixel shifting to 4K. I have already watched over 20 movies on it and I have beyond impressed. The image quality contrast and sharpness are fantastic. And the 4K looks very good. I also have a JVC NX7 which is a real native 4K projector and I really can tell the difference. And the BenQ looks sharper colors more vivid and a brighter projector. This BenQ W5800 is a fantastic projector. And even though I only paid $3,699 for it which is much less that actual retail. For it still only bring $4,999 is well worth it.
Amazing I'm really happy with it, sold my JVC nx7 now and I have zero bulb anxiety with it dimming rapidly and then failing completely at a few thousand hours. Plus now you can run it high and it doesn't sound like a freight train like it does on the JVC. Very happy.
@ yes. From my experiences the pixel shifting technology has improved greatly over the years. A few years back you definitely could tell the difference in 4K pixel shifting and a actual native 4K picture. But these newer ones are much better.
They just releases firmware 1.3 if you haven't updated yet you should. This adds fast mode for gaming as well as more Dynamic Black options (now have off, low, and high instead of just off and on).
@@DLPHomeCinema having some issues with it. Will have to email them, when I switch dynamic black to low or high it doesn't stick, switches back to off on its own. Not sure what's going on.
DLP contrast leaves a lot to be desired. It may look great in bright scenes but the JVC kills it in dark scenes. Elevated blacks are so distracting. I’ll take a hit to sharpness for contrast.
Works good but it was pulled from their site as it had two parts to update but wasn't mentioned properly. I had to send mine in and was turned around in a few days as without it it was buggy after the update.
3100 has power latency and better for gaming, this has fast mode which is fine for simulations etc but not so much for competitive online first person shooters etc
@@gameroomtheater The Epson LS12000 will be FAR better with contrast. The BenQ might pop more, but that black floor is the bigger issue, especially in a dedicated space.
Thanks for your take. I personally have always preferred the DLP pop, razor sharp image and natural colors compared to LCOS or LCD panels. Im considering this particular BenQ. In dark dark scenes did the "greyish" blacks bother you was it distracting?
@@TheaterAtReference it definitely bothered me when I did the split screen with the JVC in surprisingly some dark scenes, but oddly not all scenes. I do have dynamic black on and local contrast enhancers off. It appears Dynamic black does a great job without crushing the shades. I've had many many dedicated home theater projectors in the past and definitely could not get used to the Grays from DLPs but this one was definitely different.
I haven't had a chance to go back yet but will be at some point!. But Friday going to go check out Chris Brown's space to help him out in his Vegas home.
It's not just the cost it's the continuous dimming which starts getting noticeable far quicker than when the bulb is at the end of its life. That laser it's not even an afterthought by the time problems are happening I have long upgraded or switched out. Also the cheaper ones are dimmer, oem is 500 bucks.

About the new fw 1.3, how it work with the new "fast mode" ? Now we have a low input lag (20/30ms) ? Thanks !

Great review. I hope you put the BenQ or JVC or maybe both against the Valerion VisionMaster!
That is an interesting comparison and something I would like to explore further.
