I originally posted this trailer in 2019. It was subsequently BLOCKED, and the issue has since been fixed. This version does not differ significantly from the original 2019 version.
I binged the whole series in one day and was completely spellbound. It’s a masterful documentary. The McCartney series is just as brilliant and provides deep insight into the man. Wonderful! Thank You!
I've seen this documentary and it is fantastic. The simple and basic truth is that the success of the two most successful and critically acclaimed songwriters of the twentieth century came about through shear talent and real love between the two! It's no coincidence that the overriding and underlying theme of all Beatles music is Love. John & Paul were soulmates. It's a beautiful thing!
I stumbled across the series this weekend. I’ve seldom experienced anything so honest, so raw - left me with a much bigger sense of how fragile humans are. Amazing series. I’m not sure I have the words to describe.
Congratulations you totally got the relationship between Paul and John and have put together one of the best documentaries I've ever seen on any subject.
I have just finished the whole "Understanding Lennon &McCartney" series and have already watched the "McCartney" series. I have to say I thought it was brilliant. I thought my own knowledge of the subject was good, but there was quite a lot in there I had never seen or indeed knew about. Congratulations on the whole project which must have been a true labour of love.
I would strongly recommend all fellow Beatlemaniacs to take the time to watch his doc - it's by far the best of its kind. Absolutely sublime in other words. Spread the word!
I can’t imagine the amount of time and energy you’ve spent making this series, and presumably all by yourself. So many moment of fantastic and subtle editing. I don’t know that you’ll ever get the recognition you deserve since this isn’t an authorized bio, but you have my sincere thanks for such a deep and fascinating look at a topic that I thought I new all there was to know about.
Without McCartney...Lennon would have had just another rock band. Without Lennon, McCartney would have had a flower power fantasy folk group. It was that perfect blend that gave us The Beatles.
incredible is the only word i can say on breathless 345 beatles and solo documentaries. The only sad part for me really and always has been is the fact that we can never change the outcome after december 8 1980 and that is the great tragedy.... These videos serve as the final end all be all for ALL us old true blue fans who were there !!! maybe not physically, but in every other way be it financially, spiritually, spiritually whatever.... it truly was and is a love affair involving lennon and mccartney and then the fans who were beside them all the way through to the end and then some.....
Thank you is not enough to say to you breathless345 for making this documentary. I just marvel at what you’re been able to do here. I’m sure there is a lot more to uncover about the Beatles. You will be at this for a while yet. I heard John Lennon say he wrote down and recorded everything music thoughts about Paul. Most likely Yoko will eventually give it up. But this is wonderful and amazing please continue making these. I’m totally hooked. It’s so well done mystical captivating. God bless you and your pal for this.
It is the best documentary about them I have seen. But I missed the song Johnny Johnny/I don't know they composed and sung in 1960! Anyway, it is already fantastic the way it is. It think it is not really possible to include everything. Their lives are very rich. Another thing I just remembered and helps to understand them even more is John's Diary while in Dakota. He wrote Paul's name every day! He mentions Paul more than Yoko or even Sean. Sometimes only asking himself what Paul would be doing at that time. He could not stop thinking about him. Hey, wait a minute. I guess I learned about this diary in this documentary! LOL Or not?
I’ve wondered about this diary too. I think a lot more is going to come out. I have a few questions about a part of an interview that was covered in this series. Paul said regarding the Beatles we were the first to come out publicly. He said homosexuality was still sort of illegal or something like that not sure how exactly he put it. But I’m not sure I understood what he was saying. Do you know the interview I’m talking about? Any insight on that please just trying to get it right in my mind as to the nature of their relationship.
Excellent! Not only is it time for a re-watch of this whole series (having just watched vol. 1-5 of the new Paul McCartney doc series) but here's a perfect length trailer for sharing on Facebook :-)
When I watched this doc I was absolutely stunned. Fan of 40 years. How did I never see what was right in front of my face? It was right there the whole time.
Something also that I really appreciate about this series is how, while it has a very particular interpretation of the relationship and their feelings for one another that's heavily implied overall (and makes a strongly compelling case for it), it also leaves plenty of room for viewers to take it and come to their own conclusions.
I'm sooo happy to find you, thank you so much for every single video you made. I've watched all of them several times and always find out something new. I love The Beatles so much, their story makes me feel so many emotions, and I should share all of your masterpieces everywhere to everyone can see it. 🧡
@@aalexjohna maybe, for YT i guess its ok. but for commercial/make profit use, i doubt AC just let it slide away. Can still try to pitch anyway, who knows?
The way this was put together was as innovative as the Beatles were… And that’s what it’s all about, they wanted to write good songs that people loved and they wanted to keep evolving… after playing with other musicians I understand what happens, it’s a relationship… In the beginning all relationships are so exciting, but then reality sets in… And either people work through the issues or they split apart, and we know what happen with the Beatles…
Beatles live ..In the middle of it all, a few rock clubs. Indra is one of them. Its owner offered the Beatles a two-month contract, and they landed on August 16, 1960 in Hamburg, then considered the most depraved city in the world. But John will say, "I grew up in Hamburg, not in Liverpool ..."
They had a scandalous dramatic separation, in the public eye, like a drama novel They loved each other, love continued to the end, from the Lennon days
It’d be interesting if your next project would be about Lennon and Harrison, the Lost Weekend, or 1968, focusing on the final sessions before leaving for India, Rishikesh, and the White Album sessions, leading into the Let It Be sessions. I think 1968 is the most pivotal year for The Beatles because it’s when everything changed
Guy Incognito I would kind of like to see a doc about Harrison and Ringo’s friendship. It might not be as interesting as John and Paul’s friendship but, I would still like to watch it.
The important thing is to find a Truth that needs to be told. That's why this series was so compelling. George's love hate conflict with the Beatles - with John and particularly with Paul - is an interesting story. I don't think the Scorcese doc really went that deep, despite having access to so much material. Vol 1 of the Mark Lewisohn book really brings out how the sibling relationship between John, Paul and George was kind of formed in 1958 and never really changed for the next 12 years in their own minds. George was always the kid, which frustrated him immensely. He also sought approval from John though. John and George became closer from 66/67, as they were both more into their inner journeys, with acid and meditation, and I think John deferred to George after Paul became less available to John. Gosh, could go on all day... But there are a few more aspects of the Beatles story that Breathless could move on to, that's for sure! I hope he does!!
Dave Costello Absolutely. George was a very complicated soul, much like John, in the sense that he’d say things and then say or do things in contradiction. Like he’d make a song like All Those Years Ago, where he said, “Living with good and bad, I always looked up to you,” yet when asked in an interview what he thought of John saying he looked up to him, he laughed and said, “Yeah, well, that’s what he thought.” In the Lennon/McCartney series, George said they were the stars and he was more of an observer, and that he would talk to people that John and Paul wouldn’t talk to. I think that could be George misinterpreting John and Paul being weary of talking to people who they thought wanted something from them, who had ulterior motives, who knows. That being said, I feel there’s a lot to be explored. I felt the Scorsese documentary wasn’t very well-made, and that’s shocking considering how great Scorsese is. It does bring up topics that aren’t discussed much, like his 1974 US tour, but it never goes into detail, and when they do give information, Olivia is kind of giving read-between-the-line answers, and seems like there’s so much more she’s not saying, to protect George’s image.
@@guyincognito5706 Yes to all that! Scorcese seemed to lose interest in the music too, after 74. Hardly any mention of the albums after that. I did love it though, but think what it could have been. Maybe us Beatles fans are demanding viewers!
It’s brilliant, alright. Have you thought of making this into a podcast? If only you could get a great narrator for the quotes you show but don’t have audio for... brilliant tho. I’m on OG Beatle maniac, too.

So sad they didn't work again properly (let's forget that awful Toot & a Snore). Let's face it creatively they were best together. But that's life, sometimes very cruel and unforgiving. 😔
Your last sentence, allow me to drive the point home, “But that’s life, sometimes very cruel and unforgiving.” is something every child needs to understand. Adults need to be reminded too.
The solo career of each of the BeaTles following their breakout gave us a clue on how and who was behind most successful material that was created during the 10 years they’ve been together. No doubt that the tremendous success of many of the Beatles Era was resulting from a team work ,, including Georges Martin supervisory,,,,, But today,,,,For the advise musician understanding melody creativity, ,,,it is now possible to point to who was the « Creator » of the basic notes of each best songs ,, John had his recognizable eternal revolution style,, Georges was adding melody to the basic composition along with his gifted guitar,,,and later catching up slowly into his personal leading melody creativity... Ringo was inventing the beat from a smart understanding of the 2 main composers ideas,,, Paul was ( and still is) in another league,,, above the other 3 ,,, the most gifted genius that wrote musical history.
To be fair, John said it having all four of them in mind, not only him and Paul. But it's still sweet....especially as he said it in 1972, when times were not that good.
The musical style of the Beatles was created mainly by John Lennon. John also had an original style of clothing and hairstyles changing every year, lyrics, smart thoughts, independent statements, most inventive songs. And Paul tuned in and wrote good tunes.
