  • Today we decided to have some fun-- I (Cooper) chose a handful of Taylors to test Chris' expertise. How does he do? As you're probably guessing... pretty dang good. Watch the shenanigans and let us know what blind tests you'd like to see next!

    Cooper's reaction when Chris first said "spruce/rosewood" for that 324ce 😂 overall Chris did a great job, though! These blind tests are always very interesting.

    I think it would be cool to see someone try to guess/explain the guitar while listening blindfolded: aka if Cooper would play and Chris would explain what he hears, what is overtone, which one sounds "richer"... maybe after a few more episodes... Maybe the point wouldn't be to guess which model it is, but rather which one out of the three he thinks its closer to a certain price point perhaps, or something of that nature.
    I got a Taylor, and I enjoy listening to some higher end guitars, but not sure I understand all the nuances and details you guys can distinguish...
    Also, I want to compliment you on the quality of the sound you upload- I understand that you "have to" give the business you are in, but you certainly "don't have to" yet you chose to record nice quality sound... and it sounds very nice on our end!

    Martin 000 and om blind shootout!!

    • @boshi9
      @boshi9 3 года назад

      I guess you could differentiate them without playing since their necks are quite different (scale length, nut width, taper are all different).

    • @gabrielfort2574
      @gabrielfort2574 3 года назад

      I meant just a test on a martin 000 and oms not necessarily to differentiate between the 2 but to guess the models of them.
      This is probably one of my favorite videos from Alamo! 👏🏼blind👏🏼test🔥

    Chris wins! I've mentioned in other video comments, but I had such a positive experience when I visited your store a couple of weeks ago. I felt naked because the picks I usually keep in my console for visiting guitar shops weren't there, but your guys provided one and a tuner. They were more than willing to unlock any guitar in the acoustic room. Just super helpful and more than ready to accommodate me as I tried different guitars. Not your fault that Martin & Gibson are behind on orders, but I was able to compare the Taylors I wanted to hear. Alamo Music is the real deal, folks. Make the trip to San Antonio if you can. Plenty to do in the area while you mull your final decision. My favorite city and music shop. PS, I live 4 hours south of them, and I would gladly make the drive to deal with them again.

    Awesome job guys , you know your Taylors. Im looking for my first 12 string acoustic and I’m liking what Taylor has to offer. Just thinking maybe you can do a double blind by throwing in a couple of Martin and maybe a Guild and do a 12 string review. Can’t get enough early 70s rock music, Eagles, classic Zep, America, ELP. I’m headed back to my youth and I’ve got the 12 string itch . Thanks in advance, So. Cal.

    Impressive effort. This was a challenging test. Picking guitars out within one manufacturer's lineup is hard because they hall have manufacturer specific characteristics. I'd expect to be able to tell the difference between a Taylor V braced vs a Martin guitar very quickly by sound alone. I'd also expect to be able the difference between mahogany and spruce topwoods. Hard mode would be picking the difference between different species of spruce top based on sound alone.

    Taylor guitars are great . I have a cheapy 214CE Grand Auditorium but the Rosewood really comes throuh. Big body but also big sound with lots of sympathetic overtones. I like them all. ( Terry from Oz).

    I kept waiting for you to hit the 324 a little harder. The compression always stands out to me on strumming. Mahogany stays bright enough on the trebles that I don’t notice the difference nearly as much fingerstyle
