Great choices! Thanks.
Great review(s), Chris, and nice Top 5. I don't how you could possibly choose out of all the fantastic guitars you reviewed this year. I was smitten by Taylor's revamped 400 series this year, and bought a 412ce from youse guys. Keep up the good work in the coming year! And BTW, I got to see you and Cooper on Taylor Primetime last night, and loved the show. One thing you said hit home for me, that your reviews and demos are the next-best thing to being able to sit down in a store and play one for yourself.
got a G5655 back in 2020 and its incredibly good, im glad it got some recognition
That Marin Custom OM is NICE ! ! ! ! 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
The Gibson CS 1936 Advanced Jumbo now forms the top bar in my personal high jump for excellence. The 11 guitars you two picked are all phenomenal instruments. Thanks for bringing them to us. I caught last night’s Primetime and it was great to get to know all of you a little better. Buckle up tight, fellas, because I think the pedal is about to hit the metal for you. Stay humble and dedicated and the blessings will flow your way. Merry Christmas!
Great Choices, I have been following Chris from a long time here at this Channel. Such a gentleman. I love him.
Awesome list. Great playing by Chris and Cooper. Love the videos, look forward to them.
Being married to an understanding spouse as a guitar aficionado (addict) is fortunate. Said the guitar addict (this author) - "I can stop (collecting) any time I want to." and other lies told to get that new guitar fix.
I love your videos and watch each pretty much as soon as they come out. I know Chris cautions people not to get caught up in specs but would ask when reviewing acoustic, if you could please reference nut width. It’s one of the few specs I’ve heard Chris mention being able to notice a difference and that would be true for many of us as well. Thank you in advance! 👍🏼
Chris,
Fantastic selections, all 5 are very nice ( actually 6 but who’s counting 🤣 ).
That Gretsch Cooper played at the end had me blown away too, very nice 👍
I like how you guys are doing it separately. Should be interesting!
Nice playing! 👍
I have the G5222T it's one of the best playing and sounding guitars I have played. It's shamefully cheap. I did replace the stock pickups (which are not really good at all) with TV Jones filtertrons, and now it sounds absolutely fantastic.
All choices are fabulous guitars, thank you Chris and Cooper for presenting these greats. My personal choice is the Yamaha FG-9.
Mine too. One of the best guitars that are out there. And it's 4k vs 12k
Great picks
I'm with W. Robinson on the Player's EditionJet solid-body and think they are the most underrated and relatively unknown electrics on the market today.
Chris, I can see why you're so big on the Martin OM "Dreadnought Killer". I am generally not a fan of smaller-bodied guitars, which, to me is what an OM is. But this one knocked my socks off and sounded 100% Martin with everything that was played on it. Massive Martin tone. That guitar is my personal favorite of your list of favorites. Absolutely stellar! It's certainly not the prettiest of the bunch, but best sounding is enough!
Now I need to listen to Cooper's picks. He was on fire today, or whenever this was shot! Your playing is as it's always been - tremendous!
That Gretsch is great. I actually preferred the solid body, so I got the Gretsch Electromatic Jet Player's Edition. It's beautiful and sounds great. I havent weighed it, but it doesn't seem significantly heavier than the hollow bodies to me.
Well if I could ... of all the guitars you both tested .... I'd go for the Gretsch - it simply suits the way I play to day so well - sound wise,,, Thanks for you wonderful work ....
Chris, interesting choices. Your list included customs and a great choice with the Martin custom and the Gibson! I'm not into Taylor guitars 'cause of the cutaway look on almost all of the Taylor lines. In any event, good choices! Good top 5! ¡Feliz Navidad to you, and the family. Let's have a great 2024! Blessings my friend.
Yamaha FGX5 is my guitar of the year
Great choice - great vid - HNY
A list would be helpful
You guys are nuts over guitars. Enjoying my Taylor 314ce I bought from you.
Rosewood one?
Agreed 110%. Love my Taylor 314ce, also bought the Martin backpacker (only regret wish I had spent another $300 for a Baby Taylor or a Little Martin as my backup toy. That said, at 67 years old and 30 years into my fandom, tailgating at Dave Matthews shows will never be the same with that little backpacker in hand.
Love your great podcasts, only wish I lived closer to the Alamo shop instead of Upstate NY. That said, I got to Austin, TX a lot over the years and would have made a lot more trips to San Antonio if I knew the real Alamo was a great guitar shop.
You guys are the best, thanks for all your efforts to educate old dogs like me! Might only have one or two tricks left but you are making them better, thanks! 😊
You of just said honey it followed me home on the pairs from Taylor 6:15
Cooper is a professionally skilled guitarist. It's incredible to hear/watch him play
Gretsch Electromarics and Streamliners are awesome, and not just on a value-for-money basis but period. I have two and they sound, look, and feel great. QC and build quality is top notch.
Agree on the Gibson AJ. Sounding haunting.
Id like to practice with that all koa a couple times.
What's the song 12:05?
I have the Gretsch G5655TG. I'm going to compare it to my Eastman T-484 tomorrow. I'll keep the one that feels better and sounds sonically better to my ear. I will say that the G5655T-QM looks very nice indeed.
[5 days later] Soooo...??? :-)
Nice 👍
BTW, the '36 AJ takes all comers. Unbeatable!
What I learned from this video is that Chris is willing to choose between kids🤔
😂
Would have liked to hear some distortion on that Gretch
...and this is my grown-up Christmas list!
good stuff. 45 must of been just over a year? :). Finally sold and got a D45, nothing I've ever owned comes close, Cant believe I waited 30 years.
I had a brand new D-45 ordered and waited for months to get it to come in I was never more disappointed in my life,You can have all the Martin I will never even look at a new Martin guitar again, Although I do have a 1980 D-28 in almost mint condition with original case and key that's the best Martin guitar I've ever owned or played.Ill take Taylor Gibson and Guild over Martin,I'm pretty much done with overrated Martin guitars especially the new ones.
Sinker Redwood all the way for me. OK Custom OM is a tie maybe
The SG of the Future
The SG Modern Figured from Epiphone's Inspired by Gibson™ Collection has the classic SG™ body profile made from mahogany and a maple cap with an AAA-figured maple veneer. Powered by a pair of Epiphone's ProBucker™ humbucker™ pickups with coil-splitting, phase switching, and a treble bleed circuit for a multitude of tones. It also features an ebony fingerboard, asymmetrical SlimTaper™ neck profile with contoured heel, world-class Grover® Locking Rotomatic® 18:1 ratio tuners, and a Graph Tech NuBone™ nut.
How about a top guitar list that is only normal production guitars? No customer shop, no limited edition, no Alamo Music limited run...? Ok to include things like Martin Modern Deluxe or Taylor Limited just not small custom runs.
Cooper picked some cool acoustics ... pressure is on Chris
Pricing everyday players out of a certain guitar always disqualifies it for me.
Dang I thought you were gonna play both of those Taylors at the same time. I won't lie, I'm a little bit disappointed.
It may be a pair, but it is one pair, sort of like my wife and I.
19:50-19:51.
The Gretsch sounds nice, but I still have one from you that doesn't work correctly. The box came cut in half, and I don't want to mess with something something like that again. Everything else has been great
I'll have to go with Chris over cooper on the best five.
Top 5 Guitars: Taylor
Taylor, taylor, taylor! Hate V bracing! Can't stand Andy Powers guru BS! Powers tries to copy all the great Gibsons... The guys at my local well known store said they can't give a new Taylor away, said nobody wants them!
WTH ,,,
Hmmmmmmmmmmm........koa and mahogany top guitars......methinks someone has hearing loss to a severe degree.....
Um, there was only one koa topped guitar and no mahogany topped guitars on the list. 🤔
Mostly unattainable picks for the average player.
Pineapple on pizza is gross.
It’s great on pizza but pair it with ham and black olives with some green peppers and onions yum
Chris, lose the beard, it’s not a good look for you!
Hi Chris - Please respond - Do you ship to India ?
